What does reading the floor and defense quickly have to do with making free throws?

Is Kris good enough to come in and be an immediate impact shooter right away? He doesn’t have the upside I want, but I don’t mind him if he is able to play right away as a backup SF. If he is even a high 30% shooter, we’ll have him locked up for a while. Amen/Sharpe/Murray with Murray guarding the worst perimeter player on defense would make for a good lineup, as all of these guys would compliment each other well on defense.

Haven’t watched any Kris Murray and don’t plan to, but if he lands here, I’ll be rooting for him. How does he compare to Murray?

I get what you're saying. Who knows on any of these guys. It's all speculation. Just looking at the highlights, he has a nice shooting stroke . His percentage on threes wasn't that impressive last year at 33%. But he did avg. 20 pts per., and i have a feeling the skill is there to be better. Just like anyone wanting Amen to improve on awful 3 pt. %, and mediocre FT %. He's gonna have to get way better to be anything other than a role player in the NBA. The athleticism is off the charts , but it's a make or miss league. Aren't a lot of poor shooting wings starting in the NBA as far as i can see.

You mentioned he's a quick processor, I just think ft shooting requires the focus and repetition along with quickly realizing what he's doing wrong. Any guard in the league that can't shoot 70% ft's needs to add a step too his process.

Amen skeptics, consider this:

The only game tape we had was grom high school, that part isn’t hard to recognize. I wonder how quick some forget he rose from not being rated at all to a 5 star recruit in one summer. That, justifiably, is enough to scare many away. The ones who ended up being correct were the ones who took everything else into account.

Amen’s ability to process the game at this age will be as impressive as Sharpe’s advanced offensive game at 19. His defense may take some time to adjust to the pro game, but his mind to facilitate will not go away. It may or may not translate to asts right away, but expect to see a few Dame-Amen PnRs where Amen gets to make a decision off the roll pass, Amen-Nurk PnRs where Amen operates as the PG, and stretches of Ant/Sharpe/Amen lineups where it’s PG by committee. I think Amen can average 5apg off the bench almost right away, in line with where Josh Giddey was in his rookie year.

In five years, I don’t know who I think will be our #1 player. However, Amen could end up being Steph to Shae’s KD because he’s the team’s culture setter and is a true floor general at damn near Magic’s size. Amen is the only guy in this draft oustide of Wemby I feel about. I think Shae is clearly our #1 over Miller, Whitmore, Walker, even Scoot.

Listen to both of these ORL pieces for Ant. This is from an ORL fan. Really goes to show you want what you can’t have. Probably just as much that we underrate Ant as this guy overrating Ant.

I do either deal 100%. Anything in addition to both #6 and #11 is a bonus. #3, #6, #11, #23, and #43, we could grab pretty much any two players after #3 and still get our 1st back from CHI. We could trade down from #3 to #4 for #20 as well, grab Amen, Lively, and another high lotto pick.

Agreed. I don't think Blazers could receive quite that much in return
 
Apparently this guy is really moving up. "He's a long, springy, bouncy athlete with great open court speed and above the rim ability. While his game is still raw and unrefined he's starting to put it all together and putting up nice numbers. On the offensive end Coulibaly is a slasher, cutter and instinctive scorer."

I was really hoping that he'd be available at #23.
I'm guessing it will now take a pick in the 10/11 range to get him.
 
Sounds like Ousmanne Dieng from last draft. Didn't see much of anything from him in OKC.

If we actually use the pick at 23 for ourselves, I want an upperclassmen who did well in college. These seemingly low ceiling guys who get drafted in that range usually work out. Youngins who hit like Ant/Batum are rare I feel.

Statistically, he's much better than Dieng. He's a much better shooter & better at getting to the line.
I also think he's a much better defender.

I can. First, Miller is a shot maker. He is long and can defend. Second, Ball is a young PG coming off of an injury. I think his ego can't take bringing in Scoot, and after all, Ball is the face of the franchise. Charlotte is going to make a decision that can haunt them or take them to the next level with this decision.

In my view, Brooklyn really has two options here.
  1. Go all in around Bridges and try to use all Philly and Phoenix picks and anyone not named Cam Johnson (and in an ideal world, Claxton) to get a 1a option next to Mikal and try to build around him.
  2. Use Bridges, Johnson, and perhaps Claxton as assets over the next 12 months and reset your timeline.
They are caught in an in-between state much like the Blazers, though frankly I'd take our situation every time over theirs. Interesting to see what path they follow. Choosing to ride the middle road here would be even more disastrous for them than for us... we can at least say Dame is a PDX-icon and likely the greatest Blazer ever... they and their fans seem to want to say that about Bridges even though the have only had him like three months.

Their situation is much much worse than ours. It honestly makes a lot of sense to not trade Mikal for a bunch of pieces because they ultimately don't reap the benefits of their tanking, HOU does.

I agree, but this year Dame went public with what he wants and does not want. Pretty much threw out an ultimatum, do as I want or trade me. I understand trade speculation regarding him now, but previously, no.

Unless we can get them the HOU pick, and their own pick back. Then they reap the benefits of their tanking and get #4 this year.
