This reminds me of last year, when everyone insisted the “intel” was that Jabari Smith was going #1.

What the fuck is this report...

I wouldn't trade the #3 pick, let alone the #3 pick + Sharpe....

Are we crazy or what!?!?!?

Man I really I can't believe/accept we are in this situation

We are talking about our future here, #3pick+Sharpe MUST be our cornerstone
..

Please basketball gods give us a good offer for Lillard and let him leave

Their situation is much much worse than ours. It honestly makes a lot of sense to not trade Mikal for a bunch of pieces because they ultimately don't reap the benefits of their tanking, HOU does.

Actually, this is exactly why they should trade Bridges at a chance at a super-star like Scoot, unless they really believe Bridges can be that, and if so, good luck to them.

Weren't you on the Amen bandwagon?
I still like him but you simply can’t draft a guy at #3 who has a shot that looks like that.

Whitmore may be higher on my board than Miller now honestly but he makes some really stupid decisions so it’s a tough call.

this is probably true

Bridges for Simons + 3 is an overpay [IMHO but not ridiculously]. BRK should not trade Claxton at 24 and Cam Johnson needs to stay healthy and build value at age 27 as a RFA this summer.

Claxton is UFA in one year.
Johnson can’t go out the door this summer for nothing.
The picks they got from the exodus of the Big3 will help as will Simmons gone in 2 years. Free agency next summer and the following are big for them ($90+ million combined).

Their leverage with Bridges in trade is high, now.

I agree with the Whitmore sentiment, which is why I'm not all that interested in him. Drafting Whitmore while you have Dame doesn't sound like success to me, but I could be wrong. I'd rather trade for Brown than Whitmore, and I would really hate to trade this pick. Even if Whitmore became marginally better than Brown, it's probably better to get Brown and compete with Dame than draft Whitmore and wait till he gets to that point.

I don't like Miller's upside but I could stomach drafting him, if Schmitz believes in him.

for any Blazer fan with a functioning brain mostly free of paranoia this is not news...at all

after the first 15-20 games of the season, the Blazers had seen enough of Sharpe to make him completely off-limits in trade discussions.

Practically speaking, Sharpe is off-limits. (The exceptions are out there, and let’s just leave them there.)
I’d seen enough after 20+ games to at least think Cronin had made the right move instead of trading the pick and Ant for OG. [And getting Grant made it a good to strong off-season EVEN with not building the bench, paying for GP2, and not trading Nurkic. And even what he did and didn’t do at the trade deadline I could deal with just fine. Not love just accept.]

Sharpe changed the Blazers’ timeline to THIS summer on build around Dame or trade him. Time warp! He’s made Ant tradable NOW since he is now replaceable (with Thybulle perhaps a bridge player until Sharpe grabs that position for the foreseeable future). Ant did a great service by helping CJ out the door — finally.

It may not be the summer of awesomeness (in my opinion) when it’s done. Just Keep Sharpe.

Did you read the rest of the thread? Lol

I'm discussing Jake Fischer report

This is the dumbest report I have ever read

#3 pick + Sharpe loooool

I know
How is this even a question!?!

It seems to me so obvious that we can't trade #3 pick+ Sharpe

Unless the return is Wembanyama, Jokic or players like that...

It's like saying "the Nuggets won't trade Jokic+ Murray this off season"
got ya....themwho do you think the GM's think between Shae & Scoot is the better player now and down the road?

That's a no dog on trading Dame .

I agree, but this year Dame went public with what he wants and does not want. Pretty much threw out an ultimatum, do as I want or trade me. I understand trade speculation regarding him now, but previously, no.
I never saw anything about trade me. He did say he didn't want to be babysitter to a bunch of teeny boppers. Can you blame him.

Discussing future around the 30 min mark

Around mark 50 - at the start of next season, do you believe you will still be playing for Portland? I do.

he certainly sounded less certain of wanting a trade 'if-such-and-such-happens' then he did 2 months ago. He also made a point of implying that Miller AND/OR Scoot could be players that might help right away

I think odds are that all the predicted reasons Dame wouldn't return to Portland next season are greatly exaggerated. He pretty obviously wants to remain in Portland and it wouldn't take as much to satisfy him as all the rumors have suggested. And I think when he's speaking of what it would cost other teams to trade for him he speaking with a knowledge of what the trade discussions have been

but maybe that's my wishful thinking

Timestamp on the draft stuff? I didn't hear it.

The host did ask if Dame thinks he would be in Portland at the start of the season and he said yes. But mentioned Miami and Brooklyn as the obvious destinations if traded.

it was a little earlier in the discussion

"I love the organization I play for. I love the city I play in. And I am going to give them every opportunity to give us what we need to have a true chance to play for (a title)."

Oh nice... it's time stamped.

So the first 16 minutes are all boxing.

Most of the interesting stuff starts after the 30 minute mark. I think Dame is very clear that he would like to win in Portland and he knows that a trade might not be his way to contend since whatever team trades for him will have to pay a lot to get him.

So, I am pretty sure that Dame is absolutely on board with trying to get the best for Portland to get him to contend and only if it does not work, a different conversation has to be made.

The question is, how long is he willing to wait? It has been two years since this really started. We aren't any closer today than we were two years ago. So is it till the end of the offseason? The trade deadline? Next summer? Maybe Dame doesn't really have a timeline. Just whenever he feels like it's not going to happen.
