Because they want Miller.

That and I wonder if the new owners are more patient being that they are...... new.
Some new owners (Phoenix) might want to start with a splash, others might want to build slowly without Zion's contract.

If Zion really is available, are there any other teams that might want him?
Maybe Houston?

Pels
Zion -> 3 (Scoot)

Rockets
4 + Brooklyn's '24 & '26 picks + Eason -> Zion (into cap space)

Nets
Bridges + DFS -> Ant + Little + Brooklyn's '24 & '26 picks

Portland
Ant + Little + 3 -> Bridges + DFS + Eason (into TPE) + 4 (Amen)

Is that being too gready?
It probably is too greedy, but at that point, I'd trade #23 to get our 1sts back and trade two 1sts back to the Nets so they get Ant + four 1sts for Bridges and DFS.

Dame/Amen/Mays
Bridges/Sharpe/Thybulle
DFS/Amen/Thybulle
Grant/Watford/DFS/Walker
Nurk/____/_____

I'm liking this roster a lot of we could bring in a backup big and another guard off the bench like Levert or someone like that.

Zion is, to date, arguably the most overpaid player in the history on the NBA on his current contract. He has barely been healthy since leaving high school. He doesn't shoot threes and he's dependent on his athleticism, which is not going to protect him in the future from injuries and/or provide promising production as he ages.

No. Let New Orleans stew in the juices they created when they gave him the massive extension in spite of him barely playing for them on his rookie deal... the same way Washington was moronic and gave Beal a no trade clause and had to take garbage back.
2 time All Star. Career averages of 25ppg on 60% shooting. And he does shoot 3. Hit 4 in his debut.

I would think Jonathan Isaac is more overpaid. As was Chandler Parsons and many more.

Not sure why Keith Smith is saying this today. The prevailing thought has been Jaylen Brown is going back to Boston.

One of the two new owner is Jewish. Probably wanna stear clear of Zion's off-court shenanigans

They would like an improvement with someone who can shoot. Both of them have tremendously underperformed their Draft position. There are some people down there that really like Ant and bringing him 'home' is attractive.
Not great from 3, but Fultz shot 51.4% from the field last season. And he was a good playmaker.

This is music to my ears.

My order of operations as I laid out earlier:

1. Look for a suitable trade that brings in all star talent in the right age range.

2. If not, take Scoot.

3. Trade Ant for a wing.

4. Upgrade Nurk.

Fuck me.

Lowe with Givony on the Lowe post:

Lowe: "The teams that have called Portland about the 3rd pick have been shoved away pretty aggressively."

Givony: "At least for what is being offered."

Lowe: "I don't think it's posturing. I think they really want to make the pick and tweak the roster around Dame and at least get to the trade deadline to figure out how good they are."

Also doesn't think Mikal Bridges is obtainable for #3/Simons. Brooklyn continues to not want to do that.

Yep, there is a big difference between not shooting 3s and can't shoot 3's. He has not needed to because he is so good at attacking the basket. But as you said, he is a decent 3 pt shooter.

Regarding Zion:

Lowe says he's heard everything about Zion not being traded and the Blazers using the pick as not a posturing stance but...

It's the one thing with the most smoke that he could actually see happening on draft night,

Hornet's GM:

We're closer to a time where we can consider fit, but we are not at that point right now.

Expects to make the pick at 2.

If the Blazers plan unless someone finally decides to make a real legit offer is to keep the pick and draft Scoot and let's assume Dame is on board at least for now then the following needs to happen and Illmatic kind of touched on it but I will expand on his idea's . IF this idea is to work then the Blazers need to transform there team in the front court with players who have some offensive skill but are considered good on defense and such. This would mean that they need a defensive minded PF and/or Center meaning Nurk has got to go more then likely and at least one more bench player who is defensive minded too. Now to get this done let's take 3rd pick off the table so what other assets are left w/o giving the Bulls the 23rd pick and just using what we have at this very moment.

Assets: Ant , Nurk , Little , #23 , #43 and some small contracts like Knox , Watford , Keon and 2 Trade exceptions --- I have not run many trade scenario's but did come up with one but uses most of the trade chips but will come up with more later

Blazers and Nets do this deal since Net's wanted Scoot they decide Ant is a decent backup plan

Blazers get : Claxton , Finney-Smith and Joe Harris and a 24' 1st ( suns pick so prolly very end of 1st )
Net's get : Ant , Nurk , 23rd pick

These are the main pieces maybe 2nd's , another small contract etc but this is it. I think the Net's might want pick 23 too if they were to even consider it and might be worth it so maybe that but you get idea.

I saw in another thread that the Net's had Lively visit so maybe I am not crazy -- LOL - -at least on this -- the Nets use the package of 21st through 23 to get Dallas pick and then take that Center -- kind of fits but so much has to happen to make it work too

Having Scoot and Dame makes no sense at all, it's a misappropriation of assets. I wouldn't put that past our front office but I see the report of us picking and keeping Scoot as more likely either us trying to squeeze NOLA a little or us trying to keep as much leverage as possible while trying to move Dame. I guess we'll see. Dame was so vague with his answer that the team should just do what's best for the team and that he didn't want to be involved and that's the kind of about face from saying that he wants vets now and no more young guys, that I think it points sadly towards an end to our time with Dame but who the fuck really knows.

More may be cleared up on Thursday... or we might be left in limbo for a little longer.

I think if we pick Scoot, Dame is gone. I think he calls up Joe and says, "please trade me."

I thought a case could be made if it was Miller that we could sell Dame on plugging him into the starting lineup. But Scoot..... I just don't see it.

Also because they can't trade for Zion until the following week...
Oh they can call in any trade on draft day that needs to be completed on the new league year that's been the case for years. On draft day and basically after the end of the season the league gives the teams a choice when they call in a trade to use next season's cap numbers or the current cap numbers. So we could definitely make the trade and it would be reported. Our GM would have to do the whole song and dance of us discussing it next week when we can and everything but that how it's been done a bunch of times before.

Again I honestly think the report that we're taking and keeping Scoot is most likely one of two things. A sign that we will trade Dame and youth rebuild or just us squeezing the teams we're in trade negotiations with regarding Scoot. There is the slimmest of possibilities that we are rolling with Dame and Scoot and Dame is cool with us using the best asset the team has had during his time here to draft a player who is young which he said he didn't want and plays his position but again I think that is a very very small chance.

Yeah I just think there is no way that works and either there is a trade and we're still jockeying for position in that trade thus this latest "we're picking and keeping Scoot" shit or we're trying to keep leverage in any Dame trade situations. I think things will be clearer tomorrow night but they might take a little longer than that to play out. More waiting for us fans in the mean time.

If I'm Joe, I'm going to have a candid conversation with Dame.

"We tried. We aren't getting good offers. I know that's not what you want to hear. It's not in the best interest of this team to ship off Simons and the 3rd for KAT or Siakam. We would love to have you stay and continue to try to build, but we understand if you want out."

Or it could be even worse. Teams might be demanding Sharpe. I have a feeling that's what Toronto is doing. That ass probably wants Simons/Sharpe/3 for Siakam.
