I'm thinking of getting a simple platinum ring.

Probably gonna look around. Are the designer names worth it (Tiffany, Cartier, etc) or should I just go with some smaller name who specializes in wedding bands?

We had ours made by a jeweler artist....white gold bands with dragon and phoenix engravings...yellow gold backings...wasn't that expensive to find a local silversmith to design it and make them ...I prefer that to the stores that jack up the price...pay the jeweler directly and bypass the middleman ...

Considering my career, I didn’t wear a wedding ring for over 35 years. In that time my cheapy, original band disappeared (thievin’ babysitters). When I retired I wanted a ring that didn’t 100% scream “marriage”. So I bought rather chunky, almost primitive silver ring that works really well. It was done by a lady (Saundra Messinger) who is supposedly well thought of as a jeweler (East Coast). She’s still peddling them (and others) on her website and come in around $250.
