Week 6: IF THE PLAYOFFS STARTED TODAY

As it stands, the playoff alignment would be like this on the traditional level.

WESTERN CONFERENCE:
(1) Memphis vs (8) Phoenix
(2) Golden State vs (7) LA Clips
(3) Portland vs (6) Dallas
(4) Houston vs (5) San Antonio

EASTERN CONFERENCE:
(1) Toronto vs (8) Brooklyn
(2) Washington vs (7) Milwaukee
(3) Atlanta vs (6) Miami
(4) Chicago vs (5) Cleveland

Now if the NBA used the 16 team system, it would look like this

(1) Memphis vs (16) Sacramento
(2) Golden State vs (15) Milwaukee
(3) Toronto vs (14) Miami
(4) Portland vs (13) Cleveland
(5) Houston vs (12) Phoenix
(6) San Antonio vs (11) Chicago
(7) Dallas vs (10) Atlanta
(8) LA Clips vs (9) Washington

Glad the season doesn't end today and glad that if it did that we wouldn't have to use the 16 team system (even though I would love to see us go to it in future years)!

I think as the season progresses, the weight will shift. I still believe Cleveland will be a top 3 team in the East. I think Chicago will be 1 or 2 as well, with Toronto maybe dropping to 3rd.

Also, SAS should jump up to top 3 as well, with Golden State dropping <--- I think because of injury only.

I would be fine with playing the Mavs in the 1st round.

18 games into the season, I don't think we are even close to playoff seedings. When the time comes, I don't want to play Memphis in the first round.

But its nice to see the seedings change as the season progresses. The teams the media has as "darlings" will fade and the old reliable teams will come out on top as they do each and every year.

There really is only one old reliable team in the NBA. The spurs, everyone else is a bit of a crap shoot.

Not true....

SAS, OKC, Memphis, Chicago, Miami, Atlanta, Dallas, Clippers have made the playoffs frequently for the last 6 years

When I think of old reliable, I think of being a top 3 team in their conference year after year. In that list I think MAYBE 3 of those teams end up tops in their conference THIS season.

The Grizzlies and Spurs are the two teams I would not want to face early in the playoffs.

The EC is a bit of an enigma at this point. DeRozan is out up to a month for the Raptors so I see them dropping a bit.

I think the Wizards and Bulls will eventually fight for the top two spots in the EC until DeRozan returns.

:MARIS61: I don't understand why people say 'If Playoffs Started Today' THERE'S STILL 4 months left!!!

THEN WHY DID YOU MAKE IT?!?! :MARIS61:

Because I want to monitor the progress and shift as the season progresses. Obviously, I don't think that the playoff teams currently will be the same teams when its all said and done

You need to work on your Kingspeed impersonation. He would print this out and frame it on a wall.
