welcome eric maynor!

Is Maynor instantly our 6th best player and best backup? I think probably so although I haven't seen as much of him after the knee injury. I didn't realize he was going to be a RFA that is awesome we hold the cards on keeping him or not next season.

I really like this pickup for the Blazers. This adds a playable guy to the bench.

Serious Question: Can he play along side Lillard for any appreciable time?

you're giving up a lot on D, as Maynor has been considered very weak since his draft day, and Lillard's not doing that hot with the second-best guard.

But on offense? I think Lillard could play really well off the ball.

"Giving Up A Lot on D" is our middle name! Seriously, I'm really more interested to see if Maynor and Lillard can play together for next year. I've been interested in Jarrett Jack because I think he can play backup 1 and 2 next year - I was wondering to what extent Maynor can fill this role.

I agree that it would be nice to have a young Greg Anthony, and while we're at it how about a young Stacey Augmon too.

This is a good shrewd move by Olshey. We get a "competent" backup PG, for basically nothing, who is currently undervalued (we hope) since he's coming off a knee injury, his contract is up and we have his team option. Most importantly, Lillard can get a little rest (fourth in the league in minutes), and he obviously needs it. Didn't move Hickson for any assets, but I'll take it.

Also, Nolan can play backup SG instead of PG which should cut down on his mistakes and improve his effectiveness.

Time to put up a new picture of Eric Maynor in the Blazer hallway and taking down Price.

I always like to go to other teams forums to get a feel for a player. Surfed an OKC Thunder forum. Sounds like Thunder were shopping Maynor aggressively but the asking price was too high. Fans starting hoping either for a good draft pick or a vet. Teague's name came up and when Ptd jumped into the rumors, fans were hope/guessing Hickson or maybe Babbit. They seem a little disappointed with the trade exception . . . seems OKC fans thought he would have a lot of trade value and we got him on the cheap. the big question is can Maynor return to the player he was before the injury. Found these post insightful:

i agree (before the injury), last year eric was destined to be a starter somewhere else IF we couldnt resign him. its a bad situation for him ( id trade places with him and become 30 years younger and a millionaire, lol) you know he cant be happy but yet he is normally still the first off the bench at timeouts or stoppages to greet the guys coming back to the bench. i hope regardless of what if anything we get for him he is happy and able to play for a long time. class act!!

This is why any asset is a good asset:

Portland acquired the rights to Printezis, a 27-year-old Greek forward, as part of a sign-and-trade agreement for Raymond Felton last summer. He was 2007 second-round pick by the Spurs.

Both Wes Matthews and Eric Maynor were drafted by the Jazz in 2009.

Maynor was traded Dec 22, 2009 to OKC, so they only played part of the season together.

But, they were rookies together. Wonder what kind of relationship they have?

Apparently pretty good:

Wesley Matthews ‏@wessywes2 In just a few short years we back at it again Bo! @EMaynor3

Eric Maynor‏@EMaynor3
@wessywes2 hahaha fo sho

Lemme see if I got this straight. Utah dumped Maynor on OKC for salary relief because they had to match our poison pill contract offer to Milsap. OKC then dumped Maynor on us for salary relief. In between, Utah opted to not match our poison pill offer to Mathews, resulting in he and Maynor being reunited.

Nice. I love it when a plan comes together.

There is a significant Maynor injury in there, but I think you got it!

Eric Maynor joins this list of #Blazers who wore No. 6: Michael Holton, Walter Davis, Joe Wolf, Mitchell Butler, Juwan Howard, Bonzi Wells.

So thankyou KP for getting the ball rolling on this one.

You just made me realize how bad this bench is. We probably are the only NBA team where Maynor could be 6th man.

DID YOU KNOW THIS ABOUT ERIC MAYNOR ?????????? FACT------

1. The Jazz traded him to let Ronnie Price play.

2. Two of his seasons at Virginia Commonwealth were with Larry Sanders, the Buck with the 18.8 PER.

3. His middle name is Demarqua.
