Wes Matthews = BALLER

Matthews = the new Roy.

I'd be down with that.

Matthews is my favorite Blazer. Goes balls out on both sides of the court every game.

If only Wes had Roy's handle. Sadly, not even remotely close. Wes does play defense though. That's refreshing.

I was gonna make a comment similar to this. Wes is not a Roy clone, they have different strengths.

I was thinking today, what would Roy have been like 2-3 years ago if he had 100% knees?
He was always holding back a little bit from going all-out, yet still was so good.
Definitely on the level of Wade, maybe even Kobe-esque given a few more years of healthy knees in this hypothetical scenario.

I was referring to more in the sense of 'all things considered'. No doubt, he doesn't have Roy's handle, but, the way he has been playing/improving....his all-around game, I'm thinking less and less about Roy........all the time.

If Roy only had Wes's defense (and knees). :)

Has Roy ever scored 29 points in the first half?

I would settle for Wes knowing that he doesn't have Roy's handle. He seems a bit oblivious to his shortcomings in that area.

He: Wesley Matthews
seems: appears to be
a bit: more than a bit
oblivious: unaware
to his shortcomings: that he dribbles into traffic and loses the ball
in that area: when he should pass the ball instead

hope that helps

Not really. What I've seen, he's learning from his mistakes. Oh, did I forget to mention that, on countless occasions, Roy erroneously decided to take on double and triple teams....especially late in games?

That said, handle is one thing.....continuing to be a ball-hog is yet another. As I mentioned, I believe Matthews is learning, while also continuing to integrate into the team concept. This is just his first year with the team and second in the league.

Hey, don't get me wrong - I'm extremely happy with him overall. I don't know if it ball-hogging or lack of skill or overconfidence, but there were several incidents last night where he got into trouble because he didn't pass when he should have.

You have a point about Roy, too. He was certainly not immune from the same issue. He was just a little more talented about making it work out all right anyway.

Are we back in 2004 or something? "Baller?"

come on!

Remember last year when Nic got hot at the three point line and lit up Minny for 31? During the game Mike Rice mentioned that Minnesota was the worst 3 point defensive team in the league. Wes's performance was impressive, but all he did was have a great offensive game against a shitty defensive team. Comparing Wes to Roy is effing ridiculous.
