Those pricks

He is crazy turning down that much money!!

WEST HEADS SOUTH TO SAN ANTONIO
David West will sign with the Spurs for the veteran minimum of roughly $1.5M after opting out of $12M with Indiana, according to ESPN & media sources (first reported by NBA.com). Sources say Cleveland, Golden State and Washington all offered West more money

Yeah, that's pretty damn short-sighted. Even if you have money to burn, that's $10 million he could have given to his favorite charity.

They are gonna sign mo Williams too

How much do you think he gets next year once Timmy retires?

They are a front runner every year.
agreed, but after their loss in the playoffs last season I didn't think they'd come back into the conversation with this much upgrade. I don't think any team can beat them as constructed

Ever since they tanked for Timmy - which they still never get called out for, they just 'lucked' into all this.

Stacked but old. Duncan, West, Ginobili, Parker and LA combine for an average of almost 35 years old. There are enough of them though they can spread out minutes and ride the young guys. I applaude West for doing what he did if he's been good with his money so far.

Timmy took $10 million less to return.
Green took $20 million less to return
Manu took $5 million less to return
West took $10 million less to join
LaMarcus is still taking the max.

I wonder if there'll be any tension from that? Especially when LMA starts jacking up midrange shots, not trying on defense and jealous of teammates publicity? Pop has some work cut out for him. If they aren't one of the top couple teams in the West it could implode like the 2001 Blazers or Payton/Malone Lakers.

LMA took $27 million less to join as well. They are all giving some money there. (It is actually less in LMA and West's case since there is no state tax there to deal with, but still).

What the fuck why cant we get guys to take pay cuts? I use to not mind spurs now I fucking hate them. This is like rigging the finals.

Adam Silver needs to stop this from happening

actually LA gave up an extra year and 48 million to be there

What is the point of a ring if you do t even earn it. This new mentality is boring. The jordan era bulls was the last good dynasty now everyone just makes their money then ring seeks. Its not impressive if you dont win it. I have more respect for guys like Stockton and miller who stuck it out for their teams despite never Winning it all. And i cant stand reggie but he gets my respect over the lebron heat and this new spurs team.

The nba should jus hand out participation ribbons. Im almost not a fan of the game anymore.

Come on now guys. Not a fan anymore? I bet none of you would be down on this stockpiling of SA if it were us doing it? Would anyone NOT be a fan of the NBA if we were able to sign Gasol this season and Durant next season and then see a bunch of roll players take MLE to come here?

Gimme a break. Cant have your cake and eat it too.

Just sayin... don't be pissed at the Spurs for doing what we cant...cause if we could have, we would have...

The only good from these super teams is rooting against them. But when you come close to beating them they get phantom calls and are allowed to travel. The game has been losing integrity for years and im beginning to realize like most problems in life its because the fucking coddle generation puts winning above hard work and loyalty.

I know. It almost takes the fun out of the game. What's the point of following a team if you can't take the necessary steps to keep any of your talent from jumping ship. I feel for Olshey in a strange way. You are trying to build but a team, but what players do you earmark for trades and which ones do you keep, Nards is up for FA, do you trade him when hid value is high, how can you not? It's a losing battle, must drive Olshey crazy?!

I suppose this is why ive always loved blazers. Never had anything handed to them, always persevere. Thats why lillard has catapulted to my favorite blazer. He loves being the underdog. Honestly id rather win it all with hard work and team ball than stacking team with ring seeking stars. The victory tastes sweeter when no on expects it.

We did...

In 99.

So what your saying is if We were able to Sign Gasol this year and then Durant next year, you would shy away 8-10 mil guys if they want to come here for less to help the team stay under cap?

Are you really telling me you wouldn't be excited and still think the league is losing integrity?

I don't think you guys are really being honest with yourselves. :)

Don't get me wrong, I think it sucks for the Blazers, but I don't fault the Spurs for allowing people to sign for less, or having an organization that people are WILLING to sign for less...

You guys are sounding pretty whiney though. Not a personal insult, just my take on it.

Because we haven't developed a culture of winning like the Spurs have. The team owner, the management, scouting, the coach and right down to the players, it's the model organization. Best organization in sports history in my opinion. I think players would follow if the Blazers were perennial contenders with the greatest coach in basketball.

The filthy rich get fucking richer! Wonderful!

So much for parity in the league.

Our point is that the league is basically turning into LA Liga. And please don't tell a bunch of fans that just lost 4/5's of their team they are being whiney. We have a right to be.

Karl Malone thought he could join Kobe/Shaq Lakers to get an easy ring also. Only problem was they ran into a Detroit team that played very good team ball.
Don't matter how stacked a team is if they don't play well together.
