i was just thinkin about it isnt he a free agent? do you think he would be a good guy for us if he was willing to be a 6th man? have roy run more PG? im not sure what it would take to get him to portland so that is actually my main question...what do you guys think?

he seems to like it in Boston, and they probably plan to keep him since they didn't move him at the deadline.

I had the same thought. I say yes if he wants to return to the Northwest and misses his old coach Nate, so that he'd sign cheap. Otherwise I'm more interested in his successor at UConn, Rip Hamilton (in a trade, obviously, that would include Joel's contract).

I don't think the fact that Boston didn't move him at the deadline is evidence they'll re-sign him. I think it's evidence Ainge thought they had one last shot with him. (I thought at the time that Boston and Detroit should've swapped Allen for Hamilton and Prince. I still think they should've done that...)

He stays in Boston, they'll offer him just more than the MLE and that'll be more than any other team.

dreaming? how is that not realistic? im not talking about lebron james

o really he didnt like playing for nate? thats interesting were you on the team? unless you have something to back that up then i think you sound pretty dumb

so why would he leave more money, teammates he is friends with, and a better basketball city for Portland?

Biggest quote

"I just didn't know him as a man. I knew him as a coach because he never let us in."

I like Ray, but it would be a mistake to sign him for more than what he'll get from Boston.

"We all liked Nate," he said. "Nate was one of the easier coaches I've had to play for. He's easy to get along with. I knew what my job was. I knew what Nate wanted. He gave us guidelines."

I guess Allen felt sorry for the bums Nate yelled at that ended up doing nothing.

Ray & Roy

We assume that Nate is all stoked about Roy being his best player. But actually Nate probably thinks Roy is a big downer compared to the SG he had until he came to the Blazers. Ray Allen peaked under McMillan. Every time McMillan looks at Roy, he probably thinks, "Man, this guy sucks compared to when I had Ray."

This- though I wouldn't say better basketball city- I'd say money, title contention, teammates, etc... Ray Allen is not a midlevel player yet and isn't worth trading one of the big 3 to get. So, he's a pipe dream.

The Celtics are in the ECF and a big part of that is Allen. Who else on their team is that good of a shooter thats not a starter? If Boston gets to the finals I assume they'll keep him with a decent contract, if not I still think they'll keep him with a better contract then anyone else would be willing to give him.

I love that that is what you took out of that entire article. Classic.

Allen was the one that blew the whistle on Nate for running practices over the league maximum hours, if I recall? ... pretty sure Dwight Jaynes mentioned that on the MSP when Chad Doing suggested that the Blazers should pursue Allen in free agency.

Deaf ears Nik. No one wants to admit that Ray Allen didn't like playing for Nate. Some here think Nate can do no wrong, and despite us getting our asses handed to us multiple times int he playoffs, he is the coach for us

Keep ignoring the quote and only reading one side of what Allen said. You wouldn't want it to kill your argument.

I thought this was more telling than the quote you posted:

"I'm happy for Nate. But I'm sadder about Jerome (James) not playing with us anymore."

Jerome James-
Career: 13.4 MPG/ 4.3 PPG/ 3.1 RPG

Career High Averages: 16.9 MPG/ 5.4 PPG/ 4.2 RPG

He was more upset about HIM leaving than the coach. Think about that for a second.

That's because Allen thought Jerome James had AS potential, but he was hilariously wrong. That's why McMillan is a coach and Allen is the player.

Listen, I don't think McMillan is a top flight coach, I just think he gets way too much hate around here, thus I always stick up for him. He's better than people give him credit for on this forum.

Who's hating on Nate? the subject of going after Ray Allen was brought up BECAUSE he played for Nate, some of us pointed out that there's some history there that would make that problematic.

actually considering i brought up this whole conversation....nate was in no way why i brought up bringing ray allen to portland. i thought he would of been a good fit especially at the end of games when roy has the ball in his hands. nates grown as a coach, back then he was still learning as a coach and i think everyone deserves a little learning curve time dont you? you should unless you think you can step in and do a better job. i dont hear anybody on our team upset about nate besides rudys bitch ass who belonges in the WNBA. andre miller had a problem but they got through it and andre ended up being great.
obviously mediocre dbag or whatever his name is partly right but in no way does it sound like ray allen disliked or would never play for him again. and who knows how much boston is going to pay him this summer, jsut because you can jump to conclusions that theyre going to win a title this year doesnt mean theyre going to wanna keep him. (they are in game 1 of the ECF) so really every point disagreeing with me is basically incorrect. and i wasnt asking if they got along, theyre big boys trying to make money and win a championship and who knows maybe it could be a great oppurtunity for allen. he sounds like a class guy that wouldnt hold alot of grudges

You bring up a good point blazedanuts, or whatever your name is...what IS your name mediocre man? Is it mediocre dbag, or mediocre man or is it like, meatty-ogre-man?

Where are all these "Nate can do no wrong" posts? I seem to be missing them somehow. What I do see is a lot of "FIRE NATE NOW" style posts/thread-jackings, few of which mention which available coach would be a clear upgrade. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing someone new at the helm, but I'm not sure who we could lure away that would be certain to take things to the next level.

P.S. Ray Allen has no beef with Mike Woodson, right? Aha!

well my name is blaze-da-nugz as in beat the nuggets because i hate them....there is also another reason going along with it....or do i need to add a 420 to the end of my name?
