7 people shot downtown last night. One woman dead. Portland is a shithole.
Show me a large city that's better. Smallville U.S.A. doesn't count.

Of places I've been...
+ San Diego
+ Phoenix
+ Salt Lake
+ Denver
+ Charlotte
+ Raleigh/Durham

& smaller markets
+ Bend
+ Boise
+ Spokane
+ St George
+ Sedona
+ Ashville

I'm sure there are a bunch more....

None of those places are where I would choose to live.
Since I've never spent much time in any of those places, I'm going to require a link from a reliable source backing up your assertion before I will accept it as fact.
Also, I eliminated small towns because none of them face the challenges of large cities.

San Diego is awesome.
My brother-in=law and my sister-in-law got the hell out of Dodge. They couldn't stand the weather which was the same all year long. They now live in East Vancouver near Camas. Much much happier.

Yes it must suck to live where it’s mid-70’s all year!

I spent two years in San Diego while in the navy. After awhile the weather actually DOES kinda suck for anyone who grew up with four seasons. Same shit, different day. 75 degrees and palm trees on Christmas Day? Fuck that. There’s something to be said for fall colors……and air that smells good after a rain. San Diego is a great place to visit but I’ll take Portland weather any day.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree lol. If I could afford a house there I would move there in a heartbeat.

FWIW, We moved to San Diego county after spending 18 months in Marin county (North bay area) and 17 years in Portland before.

San Diego is not perfect, but the weather is much better than Portland imho - but I grew up in the desert - so the entire clouds, rain and moss everywhere got me bummed after about a couple of years of living in Portland (which we loved, mostly, otherwise).

Add the fact that you have desert, city, great beaches, mountains and beautiful nature just about everywhere within an hour drive + relatively easy access to LA - and I for one am very happy with this move - even if it is certainly more expensive to live here.

Yes, that's about 10 blocks away from where 7 people got shot last weekend.
Curious why you care. Says you live in Beaverton. I could give a damn what crimes take place out there. Drive through on the way to my daughters soccer training, that’s it. Why do you care so much about Portland?

Beaverton is part of the Portland metro area. That’s why I care. Portland is my home and I’m angry about what has happened to it. Do you not care?

Of course I do! But that isn't the reason for this thread......the reason is to continually post NEGATIVE shit about my hometown. As if the WHOLE GOD DAMN CITY is like this. It's not. Shit happens in major metropolitan locations. I'm taking this on as my sole mission to let random people who come on here know THAT THE WHOLE GOD DAMN CITY isn't constantly on fire and burning. That would be like some hillbilly in Tennessee cracking on Portland. Worry about your own backyard FAMS!
I take it personal when people who don't live here constantly crack on it. I'm not posting crime blogs about meth labs in Beaverton, Camas, Oregon City, etc......know why, I don't live there. Who am I to judge your home?
Enough with this shit.
My daughter just went on a bike ride with her friends along the eastside esplanade and had a fantastic time tonight.

We're enjoying the cool breezes from the shore of Lake Washington at my niece's Seattle condo. Lovely, lovely, lovely. We'll be in Portland late next week. Much looking forward to that.

You better look me up. Sly's got my address and phone no.s, landline and cell phone. Alternative, drive up Cloverleaf and look for American flag. Another home on this block has the same flagpole but it's near Fernwood st. while I'm right behind the goal line of your old high school. Just don't make it a Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday (dialysis).

Every place has their problems. I have more respect for people who stick around and try to make their home better than the ones who just bounce.

Of course, people move for a multitude of reasons. I moved to satisfy a 62 year dream to get back to my home town while others move because of their job or to be near family or a Million reasons.
