Jase compares favorably to these guys...

Tiny SG have a role in the NBA and can be very valuable. The issue is when you try to expand their role beyond what is warranted or try to make them a big minute starter (ie -> CJ and Ant).

I really like Jase as a prospect. If you pick him up at #16 with the intent for him being a scorer off the bench -> that is great value.

ok...you have probably classified him properly "scorer off the bench". He's not a PG; at best (or worst) he's a tweener. Measured at 6' 0.50'' w/o shoes. I sure wouldn't spend a lottery pick on him

from that comparison, ncaa assist rates:

Payne 37%
Sexton 28%
CJ 20%
Maxey 19%
Jase 14%

Richardson't utility as a backup PG is pretty weak, and that's being kind

as far as that 16th pick, if Orlando was willing to trade it for Simons, I'd think the trade would have already happened

Those numbers are skewed - his role was inconsistent for 1/2 of the season. Izzo’s system did him no favors:

I am not so sure about that. Similar to the trade deadline, it seems like they all like to wait until the last second. Maybe to cover their asses if someone unexpected drops to them at 16? Or maybe for the Blazers....in case someone offers more? (like an ending, contract?)
Not sure

whenever a 6' guard that comes along as a top-20 prospect, there are loads and loads of rationalizations about why he'd be an exception, and loads of excuses for any deficiencies in his numbers. But for every Tyrese Maxey there are a dozen Shabazz Napier's.

Oralndo was in 8th seed position heading into the trade deadline and their offense was struggling. They could have lottery protected their pick and if not conveyed, substituted that Denver pick

or maybe they weren't interested in offering their best 2025 1st; or maybe Cronin was demanding two firsts for Simons like he reportedly was for Grant. Or maybe Orlando is looking at their cap situation next season and believe that Simons is a way-too-expensive option and questionable upgrade

And two undersized guards never wins. The Cavs just found that out.

The more I look at this draft the more I hate everyone in it after the top5

Queen is way too useless defensively at a position that demands defense/athleticism

Denim isn't athletic enough and is super raw

Coward is old and not elite at anything

After having 7/3/7 picks in recent years I find this draft less exciting than any in awhile. Even though last year was crazy weak think I may have been more excited.

Think I'll look more forward to trades with current NBA players or us hopefully breaking up this horrific Ayton Grant Ant big3 than a rookie we add.

Would enjoy being convinced otherwise.

That might be why the team didn't care that much about tanking.

Yeah we've never seen two 6'3" starting guards win a title since less than a year ago when Holiday/White did.

Or two years prior when Curry/Poole did.

Or a couple years prior to that when VanVleet/Lowry did.

So you know - about half the champs.

The more I read your posts the more I realize that you don't like any of our players or anyone who could potentially be one of our players. You've (mostly just this last season) become really negative about any prospects our team has to get to a good place.

Demin is athletic... not freaky like Shaedon or something but not so unathletic that it's a concern at his size... you should also look at his numbers on the star shooting drill. Pretty impressive. Essengue has really high upside. I'm with you on Queen, I'm not a fan of his for our team. I like Jakucionis, Carter Bryant and Newell might be my favorite out of all of these prospects for us.

There are reasons to be excited about this draft outside of the top 5. I like Fleming to be a more stout version of Herb Jones. What I'm saying is there isn't a clear cut superstar outside of probably Flagg and maybe even Harper but there are a ton of guys in our range and later that could outperform even Bailey and I'm a big Bailey fan.

Trade it for a vet and a second.
Trade Ant for 16 and another vet or two.
Get older, gain more assets and hold our youth.

So Johni Broome is the pick or do we go with the Kalkbrenner?

STOMP

Win would be getting Kalkbrenner and Knuepple in the same draft. I might even try to trade a few pieces to snag Gradey Dick after.

thanks for proving my point by listing a bunch of PG's...Jase is not a PG

I have revised my order at who I want in the draft.

11: Demin, Essengue
16: Fleming, Coward, McNeely

We'll need to shoot for a single or a double that addresses shooting if Simons is sent out.

As much as I like Jase — you 100% take Jakucionis if he’s there. Period end of story.

I removed him from my 1a/1b as I really don’t think he gets by Brooklyn.

I still believe this ^ but we could luck out like we did with Clingan :smiley-hvala:

I forget who I was watching earlier but they made the case for Egor over Kasparas. Neither shot the three ball well but Egor has the superior size and passing. Shooting is closer between the two than it gets credit for.
