This evening freelance NBA writer Landon Buford, who has bylines with SI and Forbes among other places, suggested that the New Orleans Pelicans have offered a multi-player package and picks for Portland’s star guard.

Pelicans last offer to Blazers was: Satoransky, Hart, Hayes, Murphy, 2022 Lakers FRP, 2023 Pelicans FRP for C.J. McCollum, Per NBA Source.

Blazers want more assets but didn’t specify who.

Not a big Randle fan, but if you can get close to the monster year he had last year, that would be pretty impressive. (24/10/6 on 41% 3-pt shooting) He is still putting up 19/10/5, it's just that his shooting fell off a cliff....ugly! Part of that may be that they tried to make him a #1. He wouldn't have to worry about that here and would get more 1-on-1 coverage. He is still very quick down low.

...especially considering he can't even pull off a simple spin move versus a senior citizen :biglaugh:

IF this report NO offer is true and my guess is it's not fully true but IF even close to true and Cronin pulls it off -- you all got to lay off Cronin cause if that is even in the range of what a package MIGHT look like that would be a steal in my book.

I buy part of the rumor like Sator , Hart and Hayes and maybe 1st but not 2 PLUS Murphy cause IF the Blazers are asking for more then that then Cronin is nuts - my guess is the extra 1st and Murphy is what Cronin and the Blazers want too and that is the holdup ( if true )

OK they don't have 24 picks a piece. Fanspo shows every pick swap as two picks. The Pels have 10 first rounders (four extra from their own but the Lakers pick this year isn't likely to convey and at the same time, they will likely end up with one more first because they keep their first this year if it's in the top 14 and convey two seconds) and 11 seconds (obviously if they get to keep their first this year they will lose two of these seconds). The Knicks have 8 firsts (just 1 extra from their own) and 16 seconds.

I think we've hit the point of too much smoke to believe any NO trade is credible.

Throw Zeller/Snell/Elleby in as well to keep the roster spots even, and that deal would save the Blazers 6.7M.

It's almost as though we didn't actually need to sell Norm and RoCo for pennies on the dollar in order to duck the tax...

It’s not just ducking the tax, it’s getting off the majority of Powell’s contract.

Interesting, but this would either have to be a multi-team deal, or the Blazers are going to have to cut some players to allow this to be completed, right?

So the Pels have 21 picks and the Knicks do have 24 picks. Thanks for clarifying. Okay, it was off on the swaps. Still, a lot more than Portland has got.

It's essentially Hart, Hayes, and two picks.

2022 from LAL, which will convey only if it falls inside the top 10. Otherwise, it goes to Memphis.
2023 from NOP, presumably going to be lottery protected.

Neither of these picks might be eligible to transfer until later on, when inevitably protections expire.

I'm not that thrilled. Remove some of these contingencies and I might be interested.

Perhaps something like this to clean up the roster spot issues. Snell and Zeller are just thrown in for roster purposes. Chose whatever player of that salary you want to go in there.

I think their's so much smoke that there must be fire but no one knows just how big that fire is. I am betting there is a nice offer from the Pelicans for CJ, I just can't imagine that it's as nice as that tweet. It would be cool if we got Hart, Hayes, Satoransky and a first round pick. I think we would likely send one min contract with CJ, hopefully Tony.

That being said if we do get a first rounder from NOLA in this trade, we might not want to wait until the last minute to pull the trigger on it because we might be able to get a useful player for that first rounder, our second this season and Bledsoe. That might be enough to get Grant... who knows.

Dame, Ant, Nas, Grant, Nurk, Hayes, Hart, our first rounder and a player we get with the MLE would be a great rotation for next season... even though I think the Dame/Ant back court will be dysfunctional.

This still leaves Nance as a trade chip, too. Everyone's seem to have forgotten him.

I haven't bothered to read up on Hayes, but couldn't he see jail time?

That NO package is all sizzle. Gotta dig deeper.

what are we gonna do with bagley/turner/nurk?

Guessing Nurk would be moved.

The 2022 Lakers FRP is almost worthless to Portland. Right now they are in the Lottery, but outside the #1-10 range at #13. Sot he pick would go to Memphis. They are 1/2 behind the #8 Clippers in the Playoff standings. They will likely make that up, or in the Play-In, can't imagine the league wouldn't give them every call possible to get them into the Playoffs unless LeBron is hurt and out for the rest of the season.

The big IF....is if the Lakers were not to make the Playoffs, and were outside #1-10, but the pick jumped into the Top-3 in the Lottery. Portland would then get the pick. How sweet would that be. :onfire:

It's been reported that Hayes is most likely to get community service as his girlfriend didn't file any of the charges.

As I was saying, it's not happening. that 2022 lakers pick is going to Memphis, almost certainly. NO sent it to the Grizz in their swap of Adams/Valanciunas. Idiotic trade by NO-- let's not let the off the hook that easily.

he's been playing well of late, but not worth it for me.

Yes. For the firsts alone. Hayes is a nice young piece and Hart is a gritty role player.
There is only one first in that deal. There is a minute chance that the Lakers first would ever be conveyed. It's still not a bad deal though.
