Nobody actually likes you. We are just scared that if we don’t like your posts, you will let all the maniacs out of the asylum and nobody wants that!I knew there was a reason you liked me.
He seems to disagree with you. The lawsuits are stacking up.LOLZ.
I'm enjoying the hell out of the show. It's pretty clear that there are some things that are made up or highly exaggerated.
Do I believe that Jerry West was a raging asshole? Don't care.
Would I be upset if the Blazers hired Jerry West to help Cronin or whoever our next GM is? No. I would welcome him.
That HBO series is not doing any damage to West. There are a ton of teams that would love to hire him.
Hahaa. This is exactly what the character on Winning Time would do...https://www.latimes.com/sports/stor...upreme-court-hbo-winning-time-showtime-lakers
Last week, West expressed his unhappiness with the way he is portrayed in the series through a letter to HBO from his attorney, Louis R. Miller.
“You replaced the real Jerry West — a consummate professional — with his polar opposite, then portrayed this lie to the public as genuine,” the letter read. “You thereby violated the law.”
The letter also said: “To mitigate the harm you have caused, we request the issuance of a retraction of Winning Time’s false depiction of Jerry West no later than two weeks from the date of this letter. You also owe Mr. West an apology for your hurtful misrepresentation of his work and legacy, plus damages for the harm you caused to his well-earned and stellar reputation.”
Although the letter seemed to suggest some legal action might take place if those demands aren’t met, West apparently confirmed that to be his intention during his discussion with Dwyre.
“The series made us all [the Lakers] look like cartoon characters,” West told Dwyre. “They belittled something good. If I have to, I will take this all the way to the Supreme Court.”
I wonder if he realizes this all just makes him look more like the character they portrayed in the series?
The more he fights this the worse it will look for sure. Should just smile and say it's funny and throw a few good one liners back.Hahaa.This is exactly what the character on Winning Time would do...
That would be fucking awesome! Now I'm hoping that HBO makes a mockumentary of the Jail Blazer era.

Simple solution is for the NBA/Lakers to tell the real story. But you know they won't do that. It's so weird to me that they decided to take something that really happened, and is easily fact checked, and just rewrote the story.

The story as it really happened, new coach, coach gets hurt, replacement coach, Magic as a rookie, Magic replacing Kareem in pivotal game leading them to the title....that is a good enough story that it didn't need to be fictionalized.
Why not? It's entertainment, it's not claiming to be a documentary.
Did you think James Cameron's Titanic was a documentary?
I get that not all conversations need to be 100% accurate and that kind of thing, but changing actual games that did or didn't happen doesn't make sense. Or inserting his mom into the conversation when she was already dead. Things like that doesn't make sense.

Have you watched any of it?
It's weird to me that they didn't get anyone's permission, are using intellectual property that's not theirs, and then are (as you say) basically just making stuff up.It's so weird to me that they decided to take something that really happened, and is easily fact checked, and just rewrote the story.
I have watched the whole thing. I'm talking about changing major historical facts to fit a plot based on real life.
The mother's real-life timeline has been adjusted to show that along with his daughter, ex-wife, and the accountant, sexist Buss required women to succeed in business. To show that his mother played a vital role in Buss' business successes would require starting this show years before he acquired the Lakers. This isn't a show about his mother, it's about Buss and the Lakers.
But like...... his mom suggesting that he sign the team over to his ex-wife is a major plot point.
I get what you're saying but...... you can't just change history because you find the story to be boring or not compelling enough.
Also Magic would bring Kareem hot dogs instead of orange juice every morning.

I can't believe they're lying to us like this!
