If you watched it, would appreciate your opinion!
Ok, I'll give my own opinion. watched almost 3/4. Made four really nice passes in that time and no bad passes. Seems to have good touch around the rim. Generally seems to be where he is supposed to be on defense but looks like there is no three second rule so that helps. For some reason a little slow transitioning from defense to offense, definitely not a rim-runner. And doesn't seem to get in position to receive lobs but that could be how his coach wants it.

I noticed that about his passes too (the ones I have seen). No ridiculously bad passes.

He had a lot of turnovers (I think about as many as assists) but none of the passes were stupid passes, out-of-bounds or anything like that. They were on-the-money, textbook passes that the defense knew were coming.

So he just needs to learn to read the defense better. The passing skills are already at a high level.

Yang looks more athletic to me. Throwing the ball off the glass from3pt line and dunking it
If you're saying more athletic than most of the guys in his league then yeah he probably is. After watching a couple of hours of video not including this game I think he's quicker than and more athletic than guys like Clingan but definitely not unicorn athletic like Wemby or Chet. He's closer to Jarrett Allen than he is to Clingan but still a hair less athletic than Allen.

He's a little more athletic than the most plodding of bigs but he'd still be a mess on the perimeter in the NBA, which is why I think Chauncey said no without giving any kind of qualification about maybe in the future when asked about playing Yang and Clingan together. Obviously Ayton didn't test at the combine but I'd imagine he's a full step up from Allen's athleticism so quite a bit more athletic than Yang.

Hopefully it won't get out of control like it did with Ha Seung Jin and Nedzad Sinanovic.

During a Portland Trail Blazers practice, Ha Seung-jin and Nedzad Sinanovic engaged in a physical altercation. Ha snatched the ball from Sinanovic after a made free throw, leading to an argument and escalating into a fight. The scuffle resulted in Ha being punched and shouting "I'll sue!" as he was being separated. Ha then grabbed a wooden pole and attacked Sinanovic with it, before being restrained by team staff.
This is the second stop I'd make if I could travel in time.

If we pick a PG, you and others would bitch about how we already have Scoot. If we pick a SG, you and others would bitch about how we already have Sharpe. If we picked a SF, you and others would bitch about how we already have Camara. If we drafted a PF, you and others would bitch about how we already have Deni.

I dont know much of anything about him. Watched some of the videos. I'm happy to be optimistic now about it. But it's so fucking annoying when we have 3 months of lead up talking about BPA, BPA, BPA, only to have people immediately bitch about a pick because we have a guy at that position.
Nice try and that seems to be the sentiment everyone is throwing out now. But people would not have this opinion if they drafted about ten other guys. And why do you and others automatically think Yang is even the BPA? That’s quite an assumption

Management not only has been scouting Yang for years but they had him in for a workout with other projected 1st round picks. What would they know compared to nobodies just learning of him now, but thats irrelevant to what you're speaking about. I'm convinced some follow sports mostly because it's a socially accepted space where they can publicly get their anger on to bitch and whine... it's how some enjoy an endorphin rush. I'm sure the same people throwing a hissy today over Yang have had draft day circled and would have been in hysterics no matter the direction management chose... there are some usual suspects here. Obviously management will be judged on this bold move by media, the greater fanbase and ownership as things play out the next couple seasons. There will be collective egg on their face if Yang fizzles and doubly so if one of the guys selected 11-15 pops. Jobs could be lost over this. But if Yang pops, anyone calling out posters for melting down will be met with all 5 stages of denial but mostly more anger lol. Thats who they are, expect more of the same

Got it. Why are we here. It should be: Blazers make draft pick/we all swoon/we all buy season tickets and hug each other.

What’s funny is if someone doesn’t like the Yang pick because either it was too early or not needed or don’t think he’s good enough, whatever, they are bitching and negative. But there’s plenty of “good riddance Anfernee” “fuck Jerami I want him gone” “I hope Chauncey is fired” or “Clingan is a stiff” going around and that seems to be ok. Noted.

No one liked the pick until the media told them to.

The pick isnt good.

Actually, there is no basis to this statement. Sorry, you may believe it, but it's simply not true.
So we drafted a guy about 13 to 20 picks ahead of where the consensus had him. I really like Yang and I'm not mad about the pick. That being said the odds are that one out of the field of the guys mocked in front of Yang having a better career than him has to be the case.

Joe called it an overdraft. Sure, Yang could be better than everybody who went behind him but I don't think it's more likely than one of the guys drafted after him being better than him.

I was hoping Blazers would get a pick in the 20s and draft Yang.

My prime targets were (outside the top guys) Essengue, Yang, Richardson, & Thiero.

I liked Bryant, Clifford, & Coward - but I was more hesitant about those 3.

Odds are one of Coward, Noa, Bryant, KJ, etc, will have a much better career.

Think you misinterpreted my post.

The odds are simple math... 4+ players are more likely to be good than one single player.

If all these guys had equal chance to be a star it would be 20% chance Yang is one and 80% chance Blazers picked wrong and missed the star. But there's way more than 4 players the Blazers passed on so it's even greater than that.

Yang was a shocking pick, so there's a very good chance it will be able to be criticized with how other players careers develop.

We're here to piss the bed. To melt down over every decision. To make a spectacle of ourselves over something we'll never control. After all, there are no other options of how to conduct ourselves when following a sports team. It's not about the stupid team, it's about my precious emotions and I need some attention!

There is no debate. It’s a fact. Next…

Because one of them showed us his game over several years and its time to move on. The other hasn’t stepped on the court but is being called a mistake.

if you cant see the difference there…..
