He was also directing players on offense and defense.

In the 4th quarter, he shoved the small guy almost off his feet to try to get him to defend the 3-point shooter.

The last Trail Blazer I saw do something like that was Josh Hart, shoving another Blazer sideways to defend a 3-point shooter.

The skill level of Yang has already been acknowledged, but Yang also has a high level of heart / effort level. Like what we saw from Clingan last season. Doing all the small things like screening and re-screening etcetera. And he's going to shove his own teammates if that's what it takes.

To don the headband is not simply a fashion choice—it is a sacred oath of perimeter integrity. Great post! I saw some of that as well and it was so exciting to see.
And you are right about his heart. And his smile! If he plays well and is happy and continues to smile like he did last night, the Blazers might get overwhelmed with the media blowing up this year.

You could tell he welcomes the physical aspect of the game, based on his behavior, reactions and smiles right after a hit. There was one drive, he took it to the hole, got bumped and pushed through and the look of determination on his face reminded me of Bruce Lee's face when landing a blow.

I haven't been more excited about Blazer basketball since the wave!
 
One thing is very clear to me after watching him...... he is definitely not a second round pick. I'm not sure why so many draft analysts got that wrong. Was he worth the 16th pick? We shall see, but I don't think there's any way he would have slipped to the second round. He probably wouldn't have made it past Brooklyn.

We were smart enough to drop to get him. Depending on how he looks at 23, we might be giving this draft an A++ retroactively
