I am watching the remix game. Sorry but yang is really not good. Not even in G league. He's getting cooked by a bunch of G league players. Getting played off the court pretty much. Obviously they are trying to keep him in there but he is way too slow. gets bullied and falls down way too much.

The kid might be a real nice kid but he is years away from being a rotational player.

I want to disagree with you, but... He looks so helpless on defense. I think one of the people who said he was a second round pick at best said that he was "high hipped" and I don't know if that's the problem, but if you run past him fast he looks like he'll topple over.

You know who looks like being what we thought he might be? Danny Wolf. Which is funny, because I think Brooklyn only took him because they couldn't get Yang.

Re-watched the Memphis game

Yang’s defense was some of the worst I’ve ever seen from a Blazer big - a literal 7’2” traffic cone

He needs consistent reps with the Remix ffs!
I watched the Remix vs Stockton Kings yesterday and he’s going through it. He doesn’t know where he is on the court. He’s averaging good numbers but he looks lost.

I hope he can figure things out but his defensive BBIQ is only one of the problems I see and while it can be fixed I don't know if the other one can be.

His foot speed seems ill suited for today's NBA and our team's current stated philosophies of switching everything and blitzing/trapping and full court pressure makes his foot speed even more of a problem on this team.

Who knows maybe he can be a good drop coverage C in the league someday on defense and maybe he can be something special enough on offense to get him playing time but it won't be for a team running our current system and trying to win big.

I watched his highlights tonight and he's slow...he has the one double fake spin post move for a layup that'll get blocked most times in the big leagues...Yang has to gain speed and improve his off ball game a lot. He's Zac Randolph when it comes to jumping. He'll never sell a flop...it looks really awkward at this point. He's a couple of years away from being a year away. He can pass a bit and block a shot now and again.

My post might be a bit harsh but this is exactly what I'm seeing. These guys are blowing by him and in some ways it even seems like they are baiting him to try to defend them. It's like that big really slow kid on the playground type stuff.

I have really regressed when it comes to hoping he will contribute at this point. I don't see it.

Is he looking worse now than in Summer League? Is the G-League better competition than SL (I guess they actually play together longer)? Because I wasn't so down on him after SL (and a lot of people in the Opinionosphere were almost giddy).

Oh well, maybe the extra pick we got from Memphis will turn into the next Giannis...

everybody knows about Yao Ming. What about other players from China?

* Wang Zhizhi - averaged 9 minutes, 4 points 2 rebounds over 137 games from 2000-2005. (36th pick by Dallas)

* Yi Jianlian - averaged 8 & 5 in 22 minutes over 163 games in 5 seasons from 2007-2012 (Bucks wasted a 6th pick on him)

my memory of those two guys is kind of foggy. But I watched some youtube on them and they were not like Yang. They were 7 footers more in the Zach Collins mode. Both had much better mobility than Yang. That's not to say they were fast by NBA PF standards;, just that they were much faster than Yang. So, in a basic way, they were much more suited to the current NBA game. Even with that, they had relatively brief NBA careers

* Zhou Qi - averaged 1.3 & 1.2 in 6.6 minutes over 19 games (Houston 'wasted' a 43rd pick on him)

don't remember this guy at all. Watched a youtube video. He kind of looks like a carbon copy of the first two guys. Skinny 7 footers with a huge wingspan and a bit of mobility although Zhou wasn't quite as mobile. All three are faster that Yang. Yi had the best NBA career, but 163 games isn't much of a career. I guess they all fit into the 'you can't teach height' category.

I still don't know what the Blazer front office saw in Yang, or why
