I hope we don't trade it. pipe dream would be if Murray falls, if not I think Duren ?

The only Grant deal involving the 7th pick that would make sense in my opinion is if Detroit’s 5th pick was coming back to Portland in some sort of package. Still hope it’s smoke and mirrors with this Grant hype. Draft Duran or Mathurian and call it a win!

I get what you're saying, but there is no chance Detroit is going to give up the #5 AND Grant for the #7 for anything outside on the Blazers outside of Damian Lillard or a S&T Simons.

Grant isn't worth the #7 pick (not that this draft is DEEEEEP), he just ain't.

Grant and 5 for Simons and 7 wouldn't be the worst result.

I agree there, not a Grant fan personally. I don’t see the draw, feel like there has to be better options. If Portland was to trade the 7, I would hope it with the hornets for 13 and 15.

We almost have to wait until the draft starts for that scenario. I would be pissed if there was a player we really wanted that was taken at 12.
I guess if there were several options around that part of the draft it could work. Maybe after the private workout, they will have a better feel. I can see the mocks changing in the next few weeks.

I can see the Blazers trading the #7 pick, but not for Grant. Talk about destining your team to mediocrity for the near future. 4 rpg, 35% 3-pt shooting, and a negative BPM. I get he might be the best wing we have had in a long time, but that speaks more to how poor our wings have been than how good Grant is.

If the Blazers were able to say, move the #7 for #13 and #15 and trade one of those picks for Grant and take one of Sochan/Eason/Williams with the other, that wouldn't seem to be too bad. Much needed size/length at the very least.

That 2017 draft was awesome. Hopefully this draft has a lot in common with that one, except the Blazers pick of course. imagine if the Hair Do had picked John Collins and Jarrett Allen instead of Zach. What a HUGEEEEEE mistake.

Bennedict Mathurin. "There's athletic, then there's this!" @3:40 in the video.

As long as he's not copping a feel on an unsuspecting cheerleader, he might be made of the right stuff. But that was a serious stupid thing to do, and he's lucky it didn't end up costing him with an assault charge. Think dude.

It would obviously take adding player(s), and some to 7.

Why do you think so? I just saw that Houston would be willing to trade their # 3 pick; does that mean they are done rebuilding and want win now players?
the three players projected to go top 3 in the draft play Wood's position.

Where did they say they want to trade #3? If it's available, I want to see if we can move up to grab Banchero.

Someone explain to me why Sochan is so often mentioned while Eason is ignored on this forum. Eason is better than Sochan by pretty much every statistical metric. Even by a cursory eye test, it appears to me that he's on a different tier than Sochan.

He's a sophomore yes, while Sochan was a freshman, but his advanced stats on both ends are out of this world.

it actually wouldn't be bad if a player like Ivey or Sharpe could play SG and do well right away. For some reason I like Hart a lot better coming off the bench, but I suppose if the Blazers could end up with something like Dame-Hart-Murray/Sharpe-Grant-Nurkic there'd be quite a bit of upside with that team if Cronin could add a good 6th man and some nice bench players

Prob because of playing for Baylor and his rep for defense. I agree Eason has been ignored might be because a few mocks had him late first round a first?

Late first? I'd take him #7. These mock drafts become an echo chamber of sorts. It's the reason guys like Herb Jones drops to the second round.

Gotta take Duren at 7. MAYBE AJ Griffin.

Or trade down to 13/15 for Sochan/Eason (whoever is available).

Have to assume the first 6 picks in some order:
Chet, Jabari, Paolo, Ivey, Sharpe, Murray.

Sochan will be gone by 13, imo. Eason would be a good get.

I will say this about Bennedict Mathurin, there's some Michael Jordan in his game. Very intriguing. So explosive. A healthy Dame & Mathurin in the backcourt could be special. Is Ant's game gonna be as good as Mathurin? I'm not sure. That's what the Blazers need to decide. Ant does have awesome, quality person on his side. That Booby feel by Mathurin does make me a little scared that his judgement is suspect. But we all do stupid things as youngsters. Hopefully that was a one off. If so, Ant could bring back a quality wing in a sign and trade. I'll take 4 to 5 years of generational talent Dame, over hopeful development of Ant any day of the year. I know Dame is a generational talent and the games best closer. Ant had a very nice half year, but it's all hope and fingers crossed with him. Blazers are in class right now. How well they learn and do their homework will decide their future.

I’ve seen Eason mentioned a lot, often in the same posts as Sochan, so I’m not sure where you get the idea that “no one talks about Eason”.

Also, they’re completely different players. Sochan is a 4/5 that can handle the ball and guard 1-5. Eason is a scoring 3/4 that can guard the 2-4.

Really depends what you want.

There is a reason Sochan is compared to Draymond / Simmons / Diaw. And it’s not because of his offensive prowess. And a lot of people on this forum want a Draymond / Simmons type and not so much a “scorer”.

edit - Sochan also fills two needs. starting 4 and backup 5. pairing him with Grant would be acceptable. i think you could pair Eason with Grant as well but that seems like a clumsy fit honestly. And still need a backup 5.

those are some lofty comps

After seeing both videos on the Mathurin / Cheerleader incident, another angle shows him just missing her after he had bowed to the crowd for his great performance. She doesn't flinch at all, and i don't see anything where she has commented on it. So maybe it was just accidental closeness. Dude can play, and may be the Best player in this draft. But i want our team to draft the best all around talented player, who's great off it as well. Hopefully he is, because i have a feeling the Blazers might fall in love with him.
