The only Grant deal involving the 7th pick that would make sense in my opinion is if Detroit’s 5th pick was coming back to Portland in some sort of package. Still hope it’s smoke and mirrors with this Grant hype. Draft Duran or Mathurian and call it a win!
Grant and 5 for Simons and 7 wouldn't be the worst result.I get what you're saying, but there is no chance Detroit is going to give up the #5 AND Grant for the #7 for anything outside on the Blazers outside of Damian Lillard or a S&T Simons.
Grant isn't worth the #7 pick (not that this draft is DEEEEEP), he just ain't.
I agree there, not a Grant fan personally. I don’t see the draw, feel like there has to be better options. If Portland was to trade the 7, I would hope it with the hornets for 13 and 15.I get what you're saying, but there is no chance Detroit is going to give up the #5 AND Grant for the #7 for anything outside on the Blazers outside of Damian Lillard or a S&T Simons.

That 2017 draft was awesome. Hopefully this draft has a lot in common with that one, except the Blazers pick of course. imagine if the Hair Do had picked John Collins and Jarrett Allen instead of Zach. What a HUGEEEEEE mistake.not really because focusing on just the 7th draft slot is almost context-free:
2014:
7 Julius Randle
13 Zach LaVine
16 Jusuf Nurkić
25 Clint Capela
27 Bogdan Bogdanović
38 Spencer Dinwiddie
39 Jerami Grant
41 Nikola Jokić
2015:
11 Myles Turner
13 Devin Booker
15 Kelly Oubre Jr.
22 Bobby Portis
32 Montrezl Harrell
37 Richaun Holmes
46 Norman Powell
2016:
7 Jamal Murray
11 Domantas Sabonis
19 Malik Beasley
20 Caris LeVert
27 Pascal Siakam
29 Dejounte Murray
36 Malcolm Brogdon
2017:
7 Lauri Markkanen
13 Donovan Mitchell
14 Bam Adebayo
19 John Collins
22 Jarrett Allen
23 OG Anunoby
27 Kyle Kuzma
42 Thomas Bryant
45 Dillon Brooks
2018:
7 Wendell Carter Jr.
8 Collin Sexton
10 Mikal Bridges
11 Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
12 Miles Bridges
14 Michael Porter Jr.
19 Kevin Huerter
24 Anfernee Simons
27 Robert Williams
33 Jalen Brunson
34 Devonte' Graham
36 Mitchell Robinson
37 Gary Trent Jr.
2019:
7 Coby White
9 Rui Hachimura
11 Cameron Johnson
12 P.J. Washington
13 Tyler Herro
21 Brandon Clarke
22 Grant Williams
28 Jordan Poole
29 Keldon Johnson
30 Kevin Porter Jr.
2020:
7 Killian Hayes
10 Jalen Smith
12 Tyrese Haliburton
16 Isaiah Stewart
19 Saddiq Bey
21 Tyrese Maxey
25 Immanuel Quickley
30 Desmond Bane
focusing on who was selected at 7 is a poor gauge. A much better gauge is who was available at 7
Bennedict Mathurin. "There's athletic, then there's this!" @3:40 in the video.
It would obviously take adding player(s), and some to 7.I get what you're saying, but there is no chance Detroit is going to give up the #5 AND Grant for the #7 for anything outside on the Blazers outside of Damian Lillard or a S&T Simons.

no cause we are not drafting him, ignore some of these picksNBADraft.net has us taking Johnny Davis with #7. Thoughts on Johnny Davis?
What happened last time we had a rook named Johnny Davis?NBADraft.net has us taking Johnny Davis with #7. Thoughts on Johnny Davis?
Why do you think so? I just saw that Houston would be willing to trade their # 3 pick; does that mean they are done rebuilding and want win now players?Christian Wood is definitely available
Yeh, he has good offensive stats, but not sure if he is really a Chauncey player. For good reason.
Like a lot about him, but a guy who shoots less than 60% on threes puts me off.Better be Sochan!
the three players projected to go top 3 in the draft play Wood's position. Why do you think so? I just saw that Houston would be willing to trade their # 3 pick; does that mean they are done rebuilding and want win now players?
Mark Berman: #Rockets GM Rafael Stone says he’ll listen to other general managers who express interest in trading for the third-overall pick: “If there’s something that makes sense for both teams it’ll get done.” pic.twitter.com/Wyhr5amax2the three players projected to go top 3 in the draft play Wood's position.
Where did they say they want to trade #3? If it's available, I want to see if we can move up to grab Banchero.

Prob because of playing for Baylor and his rep for defense. I agree Eason has been ignored might be because a few mocks had him late first round a first?Someone explain to me why Sochan is so often mentioned while Eason is ignored on this forum. Eason is better than Sochan by pretty much every statistical metric. Even by a cursory eye test, it appears to me that he's on a different tier than Sochan.
He's a sophomore yes, while Sochan was a freshman, but his advanced stats on both ends are out of this world.

Late first? I'd take him #7. These mock drafts become an echo chamber of sorts. It's the reason guys like Herb Jones drops to the second round.Prob because of playing for Baylor and his rep for defense. I agree Eason has been ignored might be because a few mocks had him late first round a first?
Sochan will be gone by 13, imo. Eason would be a good get.Gotta take Duren at 7. MAYBE AJ Griffin.
Or trade down to 13/15 for Sochan/Eason (whoever is available).
Have to assume the first 6 picks in some order:
Chet, Jabari, Paolo, Ivey, Sharpe, Murray.
I’ve seen Eason mentioned a lot, often in the same posts as Sochan, so I’m not sure where you get the idea that “no one talks about Eason”.Someone explain to me why Sochan is so often mentioned while Eason is ignored on this forum. I’d be fine with either of them. Happier than Jerami Grant.Sochan will be gone by 13, imo. Eason would be a good get.
those are some lofty compsThere is a reason Sochan is compared to Draymond / Simmons / Diaw. And it’s not because of his offensive prowess. And a lot of people on this forum want a Draymond / Simmons type and not so much a “scorer”.
