They could but my tinfoil hat is on completely and it looks like the leveraging has started on a move to LA
Except that AD and Rich Paul have no leverage unless they explicitly state that AD will only sign an extension with the Lakers, which he didnt. Simply said he wants to win.

The one reason I would think they would want to avoid Ainge is because of his reputation on deals. Nobody wants to get fucked.

True. Just weird rich Paul is putting Davis in this position.

That’s also what I have read. He could verbally agree to a deal and then when the time comes try to fuck them over. At that point the lakers deal could be off the table because kawhi could be on the move this summer. I believe the lakers are after Davis over anything though so who knows. It’s gonna be a battle for him by those two teams.

Rich Paul put this out also because we all know how the media is gonna react. Lakers lakers lakers!!!

Unfortunately that’s just what the small market teams end up with. The show is in LA because of the history or the city, Lebron being there. Shit, even Boston. New York even though they are terrible. Really the only two teams with the assets are Boston and the lakers but like the tweet I posted, why is his agent even putting this out? Sure looks like some Lebron and agent conjuring up this plan all along.

Lebron is one of the greatest of all time but man I’m tired of him always getting what he wants. Dame deserves a guy like AD. Shit, even seeing Paul George and how out of his mind he’s playing, I have no doubt if Pritchard gave us him, we would be contender level. It’s just tough being a small market team that nobody wants to go to for that reason. Rich get richer.

Silver could level the playing field if he wanted to. MLB did and it allowed teams like KC to win the championship. NFL did and allowed teams like Green Bay to be relevant. The NBA just doesn't give a shit. Silver has said "other franchises should just build super teams." If that isn't the biggest "fuck you, I don't care" put down to small market teams I have ever heard, then I am a Martian.

But what are small market teams going to do? They're the ones whose fans are most stupidly giddy to have ANY NBA action.
You think the NBA has it bad? Try supporting a non-London-or-Manchester (or Liverpool) EPL team. There's no such thing as a "draft" or a "salary cap".

They have things like the FA Cup and Calabro Cup. A team can win one of those and it makes their decade. The only thing the NBA has is the Championship. And if they are going to make that the only judgement on who is successful they should at least tier the league so those teams that get relegated win a different playoff system. It's fucking stupid to be in a league where we pretend small market teams have a regular chance. Do you think somebody from Stoke actually thinks they will ever win the PL?

There is so much gray area with Rich Paul here. Where do his interests lie? I can't believe the league is OK with this setup.
With what setup? Agents representing multiple superstars and publicly disclosing their interests?

Rich Paul being Lebron's de facto puppet and pushing AD to the Lakers. This development this morning came about strictly to put Lebron's Lakers in the driving seat of any trade negotiations before Boston can even come into play.

And why tell Woj what he told the team?

How does this package stand up?

Collins, Simons, Trent, Unprotected 2019, 2021, 2023, & 2025 1sts, New Orleans gets the right to swap in 2024, and we attach Aminu and Leonard to match salary and get back Davis

We then sign Robin Lopez after he gets bought-out (or another C)

Lillard (36) / Curry (12)
McCollum (35) / Curry (13)
Harkless (25) / Turner (23)
Davis (30) / Layman (18)
Nurkic (30) / Lopez (12) / Davis (6)

You think we can get Davis without either CJ OR Nurk? What good are those picks for NO when they won't even have a team?

Ainge would gain absolutely nothing from doing that.

Awful deal for New Orleans. Basically ensures that the team gets moved.

Idk. How has Brooklyns 1sts helped Boston?

I was putting together the best package without including either of them.

Knowing the whole "Davis and Kyrie can't be on the same team" thing...if you're New Orleans, do you consider taking Kyrie as part of a Davis deal? Kyrie/Brown/Williams and 3 2019 firsts?

I do t think it's that bad. Seven 1st round picks with a RTS? Not bad.

Future first round picks won't make fans come to the arena. New Orleans struggle to fill up their arena as it is, imagine what it will be like if they are left without any good players at all.

They have to get some talent now. That's why Boston's deal would be good - they get either Tatum or Brown, and 1-2 picks in the upcoming draft plus a few immediate picks. That's at least something to sell to your fans, if you end up going into next season with Tatum/Brown, Jrue and three draftees (NO will probably own a very high pick now, and Kings pick will probably be about 12-13, plus wherever Clippers land) then maybe you can play fun basketball and bring people to your house.

You know what could offset not having fans for a while?

A low payroll.

No. What's the point? Kyrie would leave this summer. No point for Boston to trade him either instead of waiting until the summer.
