Well CJ is more marketable than Nurk, he’s so flashy and can score. Nurk isnt really as easy to market. Not denying I think NO likes CJ and Dame. Id be surprised if anyone not named Dame was actually off the table though.
My response wasn't even to him and was meant light hearted but also a lot of truth to it.Why not attack the post and not the poster? Why bring up shit he did previously in response, as opposed to keeping that wherever it was, and this thread about current responses?
I love Nurks game I was complaining the first few months they should run the offense through him. I just think CJ’s smoothness, the crossovers, the 3’. The ‘fancy’ plays those are easy to get a highlight reel of that casual fans would eat up.Idk, Nurks game is more aesthetically pleasing imo. There aren’t many bigs with his all around skill set. He’s also hilariously honest on the mic with a really interesting and frankly inspirational background.
I just disagree I guess. Davis demands touches. So that leaves Nurk standing around the 18 foot range while his defender doubles Davis, and Nurk is a non-factor. I'm sure Davis would love that. Nurk has already been in this situation in Denver and that worked well for him... The other option is Nurk taking the post ups while Davis hovers around the perimeter, which seems like a waste. Stotts already struggles to keep one post player involved in the offense. I'm not saying they couldn't coexist well, I'm just saying that I doubt that they would. That sir is crazy talk. They'd form unbeatable duo.
Not that i think a deal will happen, but if they lose Davis a very good big man on a very reasonable contract would be a starting point for the Pels.Really? I think they compliment each other very well. Run an offense with a high post and a low post and we’re good in my opinion.
Defensively I think they’d be great. Offensively I think it would be an adjustment period for them.I just disagree I guess. Davis demands touches. Ah I get what youre saying. The media is assuming CJ is off the table. Im not sure why they would think that.
Of course it'd be a defensive upgrade, most of the time. There would still be times when Nurk is a liability.Defensively I think they’d be great. Offensively I think it would be an adjustment period for them.
I don't know about that. I think the com
I'd suggest they think that because whenever Portland has been mentioned in trade talks over the last 2-3 years, CJ is always listed as untouchable. Woj has said it; David Aldridge has said it; Lowe has said it. Pretty sure Chris Haynes has said it. Locally, Quick has said it too. "Portland's starting guards are off-limits"
now, maybe they all are getting it from the same original 'source' but it certainly has been a recurring theme.

HahahahahahaI think I've found the problem.
None of the guys who have been “available” have been AD though... PG13 was probably the closest talent wise, but AD’s better.
no doubt
but that does bring up an interesting question. What would be the more effective trio: Dame-PG13-Nurkic?...or Dame-AD-Nurkic?
I ask that because I'm wondering if a twin-towers lineup would actually work well in today's NBA. The AD-Cousins pairing didn't seem to be awesome, and Cousins had a lot more perimeter ability than Nurkic.
Huh? If Davis is being double teamed by Nurk's guy he simply dives to the basket and Davis dumps it off to him for an easy two. I fail to see the logic in saying that bringing in another player that demands a double team would somehow boggle down our offense. If anything the exact opposite is true. Davis can play on the perimeter, can shoot, has handles, and can pass. They wouldn't get in each other's way at all.I just disagree I guess. Davis demands touches. Cousins and Davis took a while to figure things out too.Huh? If Davis is being double teamed by Nurk's guy he simply dives to the basket and Davis dumps it off to him for an easy two. In theory that sounds good... but why didn't it work so well when they paired Cousins with Davis? They absolutely got in each others' way. I know Nurk won't demand as many shots as Cousins, but he does need shots. And don't forget we have this other guy named Dame that takes quite a few shots for us and I think we want him to keep doing that for the most part. Having two big guys in the paint is probably going to make it harder on Dame to get to the rim too.Huh? The Cousins and AD pairing wasn't awesome because New Orleans has even worse wings than we do (that's saying a lot). Holiday is pretty good but he's not as feared on offense as Lillard would be, especially since Holiday's game is more off the drive and not as a 3 point shooter which clogged the paint even more. Then add Rondo into the mix who also can't shoot and needs to get into the paint to be effective.no doubt

What shooters did they have with Cousins and AD? Both Rondo and Holiday are penetration based guards who aren't good at spacing the floor with deadly 3 point shooting so you often had lineups with Holiday, Rondo, Cousins, and AD all clogging the paint. Other than Moore and Darius Miller, they literally had no one good at shooting 3's to help those guys out. Having guys like Dame and Curry on the floor with them changes the dynamic completely. In theory that sounds good... but why didn't it work so well when they paired Cousins with Davis? If they are willing to trade him to us and we get to keep Nurk, I'm not saying I'd say no. I just have concerns.
Thats a fair point, I really do think there would be an adjustment period for them offensively though. What shooters did they have with Cousins and AD? Just like how Nurk and Vonleh worked together.Huh? If Davis is being double teamed by Nurk's guy he simply dives to the basket and Davis dumps it off to him for an easy two. I was actually gonna add "And 3 teams" to the statement but how else would it work? So Lets just see what happens. My bet is he goes to Lakers or GS. His statement is pretty clear. He wants to go to a team that will compete for a Championship. So it's either Lakers or GS or a team in the East.9 players is a bit high, but there have been bigger ones. I think the unlikely scenarios involve more than 3 teams.
The lack of shooters at the other positions weren't what bogged down AD, it was when Cousins got hurt and they spaced the floor with Mirotic that made all the difference. They were barely above .500 with them both on the floor. The extra space minus Cousins also allowed Rondo and Holiday to shred the fuck out of us in the playoffs, that's for sure. What shooters did they have with Cousins and AD? A bunch of "Why would New Orleans do that" type statements.
It's kind of easy to answer. Davis has said publicly that he wants out. NO has no more power in the negotiations. Davis is going to leave. He was being nice but still New Orleans will get nothing if they don't move fast. The cannot wait till this summer. This has to happen by the trade deadline or they lose a bunch of bargaining power here. So i would expect them to be willing to take a little less if the offer was solid.
That's my point though, with their roster set up it was better last year with a big who could shoot. Our roster has better balance shooting from the guards making it less of a burden with a big who can't shoot. If you think it will be bad what you are basically saying is that Aminu is a better fit than AD would be. I'm not trying to put words in your mouth but that's silly. I will say though that the Pelicans were playing pretty good when Cousins went down as they had won 8 of 10 games including the game he went down beating the number 1 seed Rockets. That goes to @TorturedBlazerFan's point that it takes some time to adjust. The lack of shooters at the other positions weren't what bogged down AD, it was when Cousins got hurt and they spaced the floor with Mirotic that made all the difference. Read his statement. He wants out. As soon as he said that they have to move him.I don't think a player of Davis's stature will lose any value this summer as players like that very seldom come along in trades plus it will involve more teams willing to get in the game in the summer.
Another thing is that their team prior to the injury to Cousins was one of only two teams (Houston obviously being the other one) that could've had a chance to beat GS last year. With Rondo and Holiday to lock down Curry and Thompson plus the Warriors having a weakness against bigger teams would've possibly been a problem for them in the playoffs. We'll never know for sure though. The lack of shooters at the other positions weren't what bogged down AD, it was when Cousins got hurt and they spaced the floor with Mirotic that made all the difference.
