Fine but why can’t we replace Hill with Mirotic and throw them a 2021 1st too then. They are both FA and make almost the same money.
No, Hill still has another year and taking on his bad contract is the only chance we have of getting them to accept our offer.

I just watched some Jrue highlights and man I like him. I would totally do a trade centered around CJ/Chief/Trent for Jrue/Mirotic. I’m sure a pick would need to be included but we would be very good with a trade like that.

Dame/Curry
Jrue/Layman
Hark/ET
Mirotic/Collins
Nurk/Nards

WB/Simons

Yes Please.

There is ZERO excuse for us to not land Mirotic now that they are in firesale mode, ZERO.

I honestly can’t think of a better 4 for this team(realistic)

Unless we offer both Lillard and CJ, we have no chance at him.

CJ is too old for any team to build around, there's no point in bringing him as a centerpiece.

Prime candidates imo are:
1. Lakers
2. 76ers (Simmons)
3. Celtics

That's it, you can play around with that order, but no other team can offer better assets.

Really? You think the Pelicans would take Lonzo and Ingram or Kuzma over CJ and Turner and/or Collins?

To me, that would be the height of stupidity on the Pelicans part. Maybe ONE of those guys is better than Turner and Collins, but none of them are better than CJ.

Just saw this in the comment section of a fanside article:

Portland - New Orleans - Dallas
$40.3M - Dennis Smith Jr., Harrison Barnes, Zach Collins & Portland 2019 1st to New Orleans
$36.6M - CJ McCollum, & Mo Harkless to Dallas
$28.5M - Anthony Davis, Dorian Finney-Smith & Devin Harris to Portland

Starters: Damian Lillard, Seth Curry, Jake Layman, Anthony Davis, Jusuf Nurkic
Bench: Devin Harris, Evan Turner, Dorian Finney-Smith, Al-Farouq Aminu, Meyers Leonard
2nd Bench: Wade Baldwin, Anfernee Simons, Nik Strauskas, Gary Trent Jr., Caleb Swanigan

I would bust a nut if we could pull this off.

They should ask for Ingram\Kuz\Hart as they are all ~23.
This trade gives the Pels a new young skeleton to build around.
They need like 3-4 years to stink while they accumulate enough stars around that skeleton.

Except they don't want to stink. They want established players who will keep them good. Which is the only reason why the Blazers even have a shot in this sweepstakes.

"The 6-foot-10 All-Star desires to play in a big market that’s committed to winning, sources said."

"Davis informed teammates of his intentions before addressing the front office and none of his teammates was surprised, sources said."

"Initially, sources said, the objective was for Davis, 25, to pursue a trade during the summer.

But at 22-28, the Pelicans have the third-worst record in the Western Conference and signs of improvement are bleak. Davis has stated repeatedly that he wants to be in a winning situation that will give him a chance to compete for championships."

"If the Knicks are successful, it could boost their attempts to lure Kevin Durant over the summer, and they’d still be in position to snag Irving or Charlotte’s Kemba Walker."

"There’s pressure to surround LeBron James with elite talent sooner rather than later. James and Davis share the same agent, making the Lakers the most convenient and logical option."

You guys need to read the comments and references made about this situation. Davis is not coming to Portland. It is not a Big Market and it cannot compete for a championship any time soon. You can put together a thousand offers that would be better for New Orleans but Davis doesn't want to come here.

I do like the ideas you all are coming up with that have Olshey making good moves from the aftermath. Now those are all very interesting.

Indeed. Guy says he wants to be traded to a team where he can win and he goes to New York to play with Alonzo Trier, Damyean Dotson and Mitchell Robinson?

Unless we believe they are suddenly going to be able to recruit KD in the offseason it makes no sense.
That is actually the scenario they are talking about. Durant.

This is very true other than the Locker Room cancer issues. There is some talk New Orleans wants this to be over with and if the Celtics don't resign Irvin then the Pels lose their advantage. LeBron comes back this week and the Lakers could still make the playoffs.

Things might be different if the Blazers had actually played well in the Playoffs last year.

He doesn't have a no trade clause so the Pelicans can trade him wherever they want to. He's still under contract next season so that gives a GM one off season to put pieces around him to win.

I disagree that he couldn't win here with the right pieces around him.

Yeah honestly it doesnt really matter where Woj says he ‘wants to go’, We all know since Rich Paul came around there will be a lot of push for AD to go to LA. However any team right now can trade.

But he still doesn't want to be here. This is a non issue. He has specifically said he wants "Large Market" and a chance to win a championship. That is not Portland at this time. That is LA.

I don't think the Blazers get Davis either.... but the opportunity to get Mirotic or other individual pieces available could really help the Blazers without giving up nearly as much.
This is honestly the only real route to consider. Try to get something from the fallout.

Do you think Paul George wanted to be in OKC? How about Kawhi Leonard in Toronto? It matters 0% where he wants to be.

Also, LA is not a championship level team.

The only good thing about them getting AD now is that they would not be able to sign a max player in the offseason.

Players would go there for peanuts, just they did for the Warriors, to put together a super team.
