Yes, next year is a team option.

No guarantee that we let him go this summer. If he can come back next summer, his contract is worth the risk. What's the point of opening up 7 mil in space when we are 15 over the cap?

If anything, that contract can still be moved next season if we bring him back.

I remember that movie. I think it was called "The Greg Oden story".

Can someone answer whether or not we could still trade Ezeli, despite him being injured? Could another team acquire him and then waive him?

It seems like he'd be a $7M expiring contract to a team that wants to shed a $7M contract this year for space next.

Not sure if it's required he pass a physical though.

Pretty sure that injured players can be traded. The receiving team would have to waive the physical. The Andrew Bogut trade from Milwaukee to Golden State is a fairly recent example.

Ezeli and a protected first for Noel, get it done lol.

Regular season ending but not playoff season ending. He could be back in time for the finals.

This is why I am happy with the Center By Committee strategy. I understand that not all centers get injured, but ours seem to... .
Just give 3 centers who are decent, and then focus on the other 4 spots for "skills"

I think at this point the risk of him being injured next year is still pretty high, and it's more about the roster spot than the money. If we can even find a warm body defense-first type guy for the MLE over the summer then it's a better use of that roster space IMO.

Well he did, or at least tried to practice in October so there was that small chance. His knee just wouldn't let it happen. It sucks, but it was worth the gamble imo.

Now at least we (king speed) don't have to pretend like he's coming back to save us.
I'm wondering why we did not try surgery back then? - we might have got him back before the end of season, but we don't know what king of surgery he will have - will the Blazer mgmt even tell us?

Worked for Jordan and the bulls.

Still a possible trade chip. Or 3.7 mil to sign someone. Or whatever. Not the end of the world. I never got my hopes up that he'd play, so I guess it's easy for me to say.

I see this signing as a "Relationship Move" by Neil. Give 7m to a client of a friend and hope for benefits later. Who is his agent?

Man what an amazing life for Ezeli. Free medical care, get paid 7M bucks for nothing, great rehab care

He Fosho can't complain
Thats why i never bought into the pitty party for oden. Sure all you know is basketball. But you made more money in rehab than ill make in a lifetime. Grow a pair.

I emotionally divested from Festus a long time ago.

Hell yeah, fuck him, he's rich!!

I still remember when he apologized to the team as he was being stretchered off the court. Fuck. He deserved better.

I think the anti inflammatory injections didn't reduce the swelling enough so they've got to address it surgically..he could come out of it just fine and be a keeper....that's just a real shaky maybe in the Blazer fandom world

You forgot Enes Kanter, and I cant recall 100% but didn't he offer a contract to Monroe?

Ed Davis is the best big man Neil has ever signed. Fuck. Then again give him credit for robin lopez, and Plumlee has turned into a key player as well.

There is actually a silver lining to all of this, but it probably won't really help us until the offseason. Next season FE has a partially guaranteed contract which is a very valuable tool for a team near the luxury tax.

Of course, if we re-sign Plums, we could be over, so we may use it on us.
