Zach Collins is ready

So much more enjoyable watching Collins than Meyers. He's almost always in the right spot defensively and he can get a shot off before I walk the dog around the block.

He's not a 5 though, which isn't a negative comment

But.. bu.. but... He's WHITE THO!!!! :D

Nowhere. Just a dumbass

Okay, but on the serious. If you are not willing to divulge where this years of study came from, then I would suggest not using it to back up your claims. It looks like an empty claim and derails your opinions.

You will just be mocked.

That's cool. Nothing to see here

Then why post anything at all?

man you are a piece of work. lol. Im trying to help you build cred to your opinions and you just derail yourself...

There you have it people. Mediocre has not a clue what he is talking about. Take his opinions with a grain of salt even though he is right based on his years of study. ;)

Doesn’t matter if he is ready until Stotts is gone. Stotts may be one of the worst coaches I’ve seen.

This team is fucked until he is outta here - frankly, we are vastly underperforming relative to our talent. Our talent is what makes Stotts look ‘ok’ from afar. If we didn’t have a relatively well built roster, Stotts would’ve been canned years ago. Poor development, poor rotations, looks absolutely clueless in the playoffs, and stubborn defensive philosophy. His offense also has stagnated. Also tries to turn everyone into a 3pt shooter.

I haven’t seen him properly use a single player consistently. Additionally, CJ should’ve been playing much more than he was while we tried to develop him.

Which brings me to my final point...

Stop developing players in practice only. Neil has said it and it’s clear Stotts lives it. Game experience will make them grow way more than PRACTICE. WE TALKING BOUT PRACTICE?

Dame was lucky that he got to play since day 1. Same with D Mitch. Get the bumps and bruises out of the way, watch yourself on tape, get abused and learn from it.

LOVE how he pats glass on the other side using the rim as a defender.

B. B. I. Q.
The footwork and balance! Most bigs can't make that move without traveling or falling off balance. Most would overrated that 2nd to last step. Collins makes it short so he can maintain balance and make another pivot.

Not to throw too much shade as Zach is finally showing us something at least.

But MAN, Donovan Mitchell is balling his ass off right now. Over the last six games, he's putting up 27 ppg on great percentages (49/39/89) as a 21 yr old, and that too, he's pretty much their only big scoring threat. Reminds me of a rookie Wade. What a bummer, I thought he had high bust potential so I had no interest.

A (possible) problematic aspect of this:
Mitchell was a fan of Lillard, wanted to play with him and Lillard wanted him in Portland.

I wonder if Dame is holding a bit of a grudge towards the front office now.

I’m sure Olshey let Dame know D Mitch was not going to be drafted given the lack of minutes we have available at PG/SG and the glaring need we had at SF/PF.

And the fact that our guards are borderline all stars.

Can’t imagine Dame is thinking twice about it; D Mitch, although good, doesn’t make this team any better. (unless you think dame wants CJ traded)

I disagree. Give Mitchell all of Pat and Bazzy's minutes and we are better.

That’s not a whole lot of minutes. Also, Pat has been playing SF.

I’m not trotting out

Dame
CJ
Mitchell

For 30+ minutes a night. Our defense would get obliterated even further. Also, that’s three high usage players all together, before factoring in Nurkic.

Mitchell only makes us better if we part ways with CJ and slots in as starting 2G, allowing us to address our SF issue.

-We need scoring and playmaking off the bench.
-Dame doesn't have to play the entire 1st quarter every night.
-CJ doesnt have to play both SG and PG.
-We wouldn't automatically just lose if CJ or Dame are having a bad night or injured.
-It doesn't matter how you twist it, Dame knows Olshey failed to put another potential all-star next to him. I'm sure that Sam Presti made a lot of sense when he explained to Durant why he had to let Harden go.

I want to watch the replay of tonight's game because it seemed like Collins did a bunch of smart things that didn't show up in the box score. He should've played down the stretch imo. His activity was a key in taking control of the game.

He missed the shot, but what impressed me the most was when he spotted up at the three and took two strides and was at the rim... and they were VERY fast strides.
I stood up off the couch for that one. Haven't seen a guy that tall move that fast in a long long time. I thought Nurk had some quick moves, but compared to Collins, they are quicksand moves.

Oh and when I get done in the office here, im gonna go home and watch the whole game again. ;)

Yeah he’s very agile, and I’ve also noticed how athletic he is slipping screens. The pick and roll play we do with Nurk should be able to work with Collins as well. His actual screens need work but whatever, I’m sure he’ll get better.

I also love how he doesn’t hesitate to shoot, but at the same time doesn’t force bad shots.

Yep.

They do need work, but he is alreayd showing a skill that butters doesnt have.

An instinct of when to put a hard screen on and when to slip. Meyers, never seems to know, but Collins last night put up a screen where he didnt even touch the player, but it was enough for the defense to adjust, and then he slipped right to the rim. It was beautiful. He didn't reset and try to keep screening like many do. He instantly noticed when the defense adjusted and new exactly what to do.

And this kid is 19!!!!

And then you know what I love the most of all? Not one smile out of the kid. HE isn't happy. He obviously wants to be great and wont be happy with less than.

Never said Dame had to.
Never said CJ had to, although you now want to reduce CJs minutes in order to play D Mitch.
So you want to reduce Dame & CJs minutes in order to get D Mitch minutes at the 1&2. We need players that can play WITH our best players, not take them out of the game.

Uh, your last point might be the worst of them all.

If Durant was 6’4, Harden was 6’4, and Westbrook was 6’4, Presti would make a ton of sense telling KD

‘Realistically, we cant start 3 players shorter than 6’6 and play all of you 30+ minutes a night. More importantly, in crunch time, there is no way they could defend playoff teams. So, it’s in our best interest to part with one of you shorties, in order to address a team need, such as SF or at the time, PF.’

This really shouldn’t be that difficult. Adding another guard, to reduce minutes played by Dame & CJ doesn’t make us better, unless said guard can somehow effectively guard SFs, such as Giannis, Durant, LeBron and play 30+ minutes a night.

D Mitch isn’t doing that. The only argument is making CJ expendable to address that need.
