How much do you think AA has to do with Eddie's decision? My guess quite a bit! Lucky we got him!

AA definitely has an impact. AA and Vanderdoes tweet eachother quite a bit and "Big Eddie" is a twitter whore and loves the attention.. He pretty much will retweet anything that someone says about him regardless of the school. In other words: He'll give anyone the time that will give him the attention.

As of now, I would say we have a 30% chance of landing Vanderdoes..

And thats high, considering how many Top Tier programs hes been offered by (USC, Penn St., Michigan, Bama, etc...)

Oregon offered 4 star LB Isaac Savaiinaea

Isaac Savaiinaea says Oregon has offered and "A huge monkey has been lifted off his back."

Oregon and USC were two of the only schools he really wanted to hear from, in addition to his Stanford offer.

Oregon offers another offensive lineman today.
http://247sports.com/Player/Nico-Falah-17408?pi=28451

BTW Nico Falah is someone to definitely get excited about. From what I've heard about him, he's only played two years of organized ball, which is why he isn't considered a top prospect yet. I guess he is highly athletic and does well on the basketball court. There is speculation that he could be the top OL in California by years end. He already has an offer from Florida and I guess FSU is definitely going to offer as well.

my guess is little to none. If he comes, it's likely to be for many of the same reasons that Arik became a Duck (winning, great school, available early PT, connecting with coaches, close but not too close) but it's unlikely he's personally smitten by AA to the point of not making the best decision for him

Lucky we got him!

well thats true... I'm stoked to see what a lot of the kids from the last class can do. Still curious to hear what you think of Oregon's returning young DEs

most of the Pac 12 seems to be recruiting him and he is already ranked in rivals top 250... he's hardly flying under the radar

Stomp...

For the players you've mentioned on the Dline, they seem a little short and a pretty light by their bios.... AA and DeForest have serious height on these guys and similar wieghts, except AA is heavier than them all. I think I'd like to see Washington be put into an Inside LB position.... Drop him down 10 pounds and he could be a great weapon!

Our Dline can't give up damn near a 100 pounds a man and 3 to 4 inches in height to SEC Olines...... That said DeForest and AA will have to gain some muscle and weight too if "they" at 6'6 and 6'7 are going to compete for the ultimate prize which seems to go through the SEC.

Terrell Turner got it done at a high level at 6'3 & Brandon Hanna was a solid backup DE at 6'2. The 3 guys mentioned are 6'3-6'5. As evidenced by the fact that they are recent recruits, our coaches obviously disagree with your too short and light take. Besides, by their official weigh in weights from the beginning of last season, all 3 have at least 15 pounds on Buckner's 230 lb listing.

I see you're still holding onto your personal myth that LSU's D-Line was bigger then Oregon's. Not only were they listed as smaller both in height and weight, but LSU players and their fans often spoke about how they felt being smaller worked to their advantage as they could better use their speed & athleticism.

here's an example of this...http://www.opposingviews.com/i/spor...-vs-alabama-crimson-tide-last-minute-analysis

In a conference known for it's defensive speed, the Tigers are by far the fastest, and it's no accident. They're built that way. They've got linebackers the size of safeties, defensive ends the size of linebackers, and defensive tackles the size of ends. It's all scaled down with the intent to create havoc at lightning speeds. The average LSU defensive lineman is roughly 265 pounds, and the average weight of their starting linebackers is 218 pounds.

Oregon certainly seems to be targeting taller/longer guys for their DLine, but it's also clear that they really value guys who can move so as to fit in with their zone blitzing attack. The lack of pure bulk is mitigated by rotating a lot of bodies keeping guys fresh.

Stomp.....

I'm not talking about LSU or any other SEC defensive line cause our D Line doesn't play theirs. I'm talking their Oline as I wrote....

LSU has over 5 Oline Players that are 6'4 and taller and 300 plus that our boys have to bang against and get around. That's why we are getting taller to be able to swat balls down over their size. That's what I mean by giving away 100 pounds and several inches a man in the trenches.

Bama has 10 players over 6'4 300 + on their O line too....

We have to be taller which we achieved with AA and DeForest, now comes addressing the weight and good size on our tackles that will come next year with Eddie V and the further development of players like Ricky Heimulu....

If you need case in point remember Wisconsin's Oline and how they made nice holes the entire first half with their sheer size and weight!

As for LSU's defense, you are factoring in that these are some of the best athletes in the nation 4 and 5 star studs, a handful first round pics in the NFL most years? The Ducks are not quite there yet, but we are starting to make noise!

So if I got this right I think we have this many offers out currently.

Thomas Tyner - Committed
OL Cameron Dillard
OL Sean Harlow
OL Nico Falah
LB Isaac Savaiinaea
LB Victor Egu

Expect Eddie Vanderdoes, Evan Voeller, Michael Hutchings, and Andrew Kirkland to be offered anyday now.

Stomp is there any others I don't have up there?

Wheels is there a way we could put up an offers/targets/commits header like you did with the last recruiting thread? That's if PapaG doesn't mind not being the first post.

So if raw size is the end all be all to winning against these monster SEC OLines, how did LSU's smaller then Oregon's front 7 dominate vs SEC offenses all season?

Oregon's OLine averaged 6'5 297. Thats plenty big and the next wave of kids are hardly getting smaller. I'm much more concerned about them getting better talent then I am about them getting bigger. Besides that, I love the way they push teams with their speed so I'd rather see their OLine stay relatively lean and mean

hmm I'm not sure if I can or not, I think when I merge threads or posts, that it automatically goes in order of when it was posted. Pretty slammed at work at the moment, so cant check just yet sorry.

Stomp, our Dline has a chance to have both size and speed in the next two years... AA on one side DeForest on another with Eddie and Bair in the middle! That's huge and fast, what's wrong with that? On the outside chance we could land Nkemdiche.... Than I see AA being moved to a DT and Nkemdiche and DeForest at the DE's and that is a freaking amazing D line. Statement line and one to be freaking FEARED!!!

As for why was LSU so good on defense? Consider their talent level first k? The Ducks are playing catch up to that, but the gap is narrowing.

Nobody has a problem with us having both size and speed. You simply seem to be inexplicably more concerned with the former than the latter.

So then, if talent level is more important than size, quit harping on the size of the players we're recruiting, k? It's not size that matters, it's how that size is used (or so I continue to tell myself).

I wonder why the Ducks couldn't get anyone to play at Autzen. We could have invited FSU(they are looking for a team) or WVU or an SEC(not Kentucky or Vanderbilt, maybe a team like Tennesee or Georgia or Florida), or get revenge against Boise State or invited TCU, but we get Sun Belt teams. That isn't going to help.

Tennesee is scheduled to play at Autzen I think next year, Georgia had a home and home scheduled with us for like 2016 but cancelled shortly after we dismantled Tennessee in Knoxville, Florida doesnt travel. I heard a stat once that the furthest Florida has traveled for an out of conference game since like 1992 is something like 60 miles.

No worries here! Do what's best for the board.

I think the only way I can do the changes on the Original Post would be to continue editing PapaG's post, which I dont mind doing if he is ok with that part. And I would only be able to continue doing that if I wasnt removed as a mod, so hopefully I dont slip up and get

as a mod before next February :)

ding ding ding ....Winnah! Anyone who has followed recruiting for a while knows that the amount of stars a recruit has coming out of HS from some rating company guarantees nothing. Stars certainly don't mean squat to Chip as he has far better access then those services to judge whats really what. There are many recent examples at Oregon of highly rated players being passed by guys who arrived with far less acclaim. Guys are still physically developing at age 18 and the talent pecking order changes. How hard a recruit works and how focused they are at honing their skills makes a big difference too. While I always have a few favorites in each class, I don't kid myself that I actually know who's going to emerge... I'm going to enjoy the ride whether it's Arik or Terrance Daniel.

That said, in news that will be sure to please those here who are fixated on stars, Oregon just offered SoCal Safety Max Redfield. I already relayed it once, but Max recently stated that USC and Oregon are his co-favs at this point

Oregon is having a mini-Jr. Day of sorts this weekend for the local prospects. I don't have a definitive list of who's attending, but it's probable a few more offers are extended including a likely one to Evan Voeller... I'm sure everyone is pulling for the local kid.

A much bigger Jr. day for the national recruits will happen over the Spring game weekend at the end of April.

All I'm saying is Oregon looks now like it's making a defense that resembles the NY Giants with size and length.... I think that's a good thing... DeForest, AA, Biar and others will all put on muscle and weight in the next few years with a real weight and nutrition program, and the good thing is they already are trees.. I see this as a win, win!! Hell I grew 2 more inches in college... Imagine AA, DeForest at 6'10....

As for 5* and being in love with that system? I agree it can be flawed and many
don't pan out... That said, the Mamba and Colt are both 5* and they are worth their billings! Wouldn't you agree? I also think AA and Thomas Tyner will be legends for the O. These are great problems to have!

PtldPlatypus... I've not harped on our players AT ALL! Stomp asked me an opinion about some players and I answered it. Read all the way through before attacking k? Thx!

Its not about stars anymore.. its all sparq rating.. higher sparq rating, better the athlete.

attacking  he's making fun (and his point) using your own vitriol

6'3 280lb Hawaiian DT Scott Pagano has been blowing up getting early offers from most of the Pac 12 including Oregon. I haven't been able to find public video on him that I can post here, but trust me the one on rivals is really impressive... he's the proverbial bull in a china shop

Also, rivals is relaying that West Linn OLineman Evan Voeller just got his Duck offer :)

Stomp..... you ask me a question several times about players, knowing that you're looking to bait more than discuss as always, I answer it with skepticism! From that my writing style is flagged "vitriol" by "YOU OF ALL PEOPLE"?

You might want to understand the definitions of the words you use. I've shown no extreme hatred or bitterness in speech to anyone..... but pseudo intellectual trying to win double scrabble words points is coming to mind for you as of late.

Grab your Webster's, and try again! HAHAHA!

Better yet, just ignore me, I'm about Duck football, you're here to irritate people on an Anonymous Message Board .... WOW! STOMP,BULLY, whatever you want to call yourself... Laters!
