So, you picked Martin's third year at age 23 versus Thompson's second year at age 22, but only because Thompson played more in his second year?
Would the fair thing to do is compare the same season at the same age, which is what these guys have? You can't just jump a season because Martin wasn't getting much PT (for a bad Sacto team, at that). Plus, as a starter, Martin has never even played in a playoff series, and even more odd, has only been in the playoffs twice in his career.
He's the Shareef Abdur-Rahim of SGs.
This, this, this. I'm not THAT high on Klay but I hated on Martin since his initial break out in Sac. Definition of fools gold. You can show me all the numbers you want, I would never trade Klay for Martin. Martin has 0 effect on wins. Like I said before, Klay's got horrid efficiency numbers but when you watch him you get a feel for his overall impact on a team. If you'rebuilding around either one you're going to be drafting top 5 every year, but if want to have a winning basketball team, you take Klay all day.
As PapaG implied, for all the warts Klay has he was one of the better players on a pretty good team this past season. Best defensive player on the team that played pretty good defense despite poor individual defenders (Bogut probably better when healthy I guess).
