They don't. I wish they did, but they don't. They know he's their best player by far, and they're going to do their damnedest to build around him.
Talk on twitters today is that they have had discussions with CHA to trade away Dummond for Batum (and a bunch of young dudes). Which would be incredibly stupid for Detroit, but this is what they do.

It depends on what they get back. If they get Miles Bridges, Malik Monk, and a pick that could be a good trade.

Living in LA I have seen a lot of Blake's interviews. With age comes maturity. He has been a dickhead in the past and his contract sucks, but what the hell.
If Detroit wants to escape that contract, and they should based on their record in the East, then I would help them out. ET, Leonard, Aminu, Simons (or Trent), and a 1st. He is still only 29 years old.....

Maybe even substitute in Collins into the deal

I'm tired of all this Blake Griffin talk....

Griffin is injury PRONE.

He missed his entire 2009-10 rookie season. Zero games.

Then this:

I'm sorry, but FUCK playing Blake Griffin all that money for 67 games a season....

That Batum contract is toxic. Talk was Monk, Batum for Drummond.

Awful deal for Detroit.

I get this but you're on your own island with this one. Blake has been absolutely ridiculous this year.

Awful deal for Detroit.

IF the Pistons contacted the Hornets and offered them Drummond for Batum and Monk the deal would already have happened. Charlotte would have accepted that immediately.

There’s no way we would get Blake without including CJ anyway, players like that don’t get salary dumped.

Now what I do CJ for Blake? Absolutely

I dunno who this guy is, but:

I've been saying for weeks that the Pistons have soured on Drummond.

We already knew Prince was available.

Parsons to Atlanta doesn't make much sense though. I guess they could send Plumlee's contract back which offsets like half of it but Memphis isn't giving up Jaren Jackson and trading a future pick is tricky with all the protections on the pick the owe Boston.

Parsons and a future 1st for Plumlee and Dedmon works. It keeps Memphis under the tax line unlike if Bazemore or Lin were part of it instead of Dedmon. I would imagine they'd be looking for a 3rd team for Dedmon or Lin then?

I don't see any three team deals with MEM-ATL and us that make sense for all three sides. Like MEM would prolly have to take on salary from us to make this work and that defeats the purpose of them trading Parsons in the first place.

That's fine. Wait till the playoffs.

And there are others who feel the same way. Not sure what the whole singling out thing you're doing is but we shouldn't mortgage our future on a piece of crap guy who hasn't been healthy since his rookie year.

Piece of crap guy? Why? Cuz he punched out that trainer? Hasn't he been a consummate leader in Detroit?

I think Memphis would take back equal salary for Parsons. He's not even with the team right now so getting say Plumlee and Harkless is still better than having nothing from Parsons. They save a couple million or so this year and next year.

Something like...

Memphis gets Harkless and Plumlee

Atlanta gets Parsons and two small contracts from us between Baldwin, Swanigan, Stauskas, Simons, and Trent, plus a future 1st from us

Portland gets Prince and Lin

Send Evan Turner and Meyers Leonard to Cleveland sweeten deal with some second round draft picks for Kevin Love. He would add balance to this team and get rid of less productive players on the squad. Help Cavs restructure their roster and payroll to retool. Love has enough good years to fit into a championship windown for this team. Toe injury I think is a ploy just to allow Cleveland to get a good draft pick. Question is would owners want to make this move if they are of the mind to sell the team.

So a few months after signing him to that ridiculous extension they are going to want to give him away for nothing?

Strictly a cost cutting for Cleveland in a move to spend 28 million next year versus 120 million for Love over the next four years. Are they going to get a 120 million in value from Love when he ends contract at 35 versus trying to rebuild with cap money. They have won only 9 games so far this season and decided to tank very early in the number 1 draft pick in this years draft.

Also they would not be the first team to sign a bad contract god knows it never happens in Portland. HaHa

But the problem is that Cleveland just gave Love that extension and they think he's worth more than that.

Is it really a salary dump if you give them 2 good young players and a #1? He will be making 39 million dollars in the last year of his contract. They should beg us for that deal.

The two young players being Simons and Trent? The pick being a late first? Yeah, I’d say it’s a salary dump.

No, the two young players being Simons or Trent...... plus Collins.

Griffen v Love.

Both have toxic contracts.
Both are injury prone.
When healthy, Griffen is the superior player.

The only argument in favor of Love is the assumption that the Cavs management is smart enough to dump him for cheap. Given that they just gave him a deranged extension, that seems unlikely. OTOH, Detroit has several players they would want to trade before Griffen and it is doubtful the Blazers could even offer a package that would interest them.

I agree that Blake is the superior player, but two additional differences between the two in Love's favor....KL makes 10 mil per season less and he is arguably the the better teammate. Plus he might fit in better next to Nurk.

His salary stretches for a year longer than Blake's.
