Send a pick from us to Detroit. (I'm anticipating them getting rid of Drummond in a subsequent deal).

Who says no?

So a few months after signing him to that ridiculous extension they are going to want to give him away for nothing?
I think they signed him expecting to trade him. Obviously didnt expect him to get hurt. I'm guessing they were working on the assumption that a locked in love would bring in more value than an expiring love. That they could showcase him back as Minnesota Kevin love, and get a solid package for him. Versus 20game rental love, or him walking for nothing

What's ironic about that is Love would have incredible value right now without an extension. Almost everyone at the time said the extension was stupid and it is true.

I don't know if I could do a better job than Olshey but I guarantee I could do a better job than the Cavs have done since the Finals ended.

Sadly, I think Detroit does. I think they view Blake as untouchable at the moment.

You could be right. I mean they do have to sell seats and there is no one else on the roster who can. Drummond might be a rebound machine but that does not
exactly get fans excited.

I hope someone called Stein Captain Obvious in the comments.

I think the key takeaway is the last sentence of that piece.

Finding a trade before the deadline to shed either Hardaway’s or Lee’s contract without taking salary back that extends beyond this season would ensure that the Knicks have the requisite salary-cap space in July to pursue top-tier free agents such as Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Kemba Walker.

It remains to be seen, however, if the Knicks will be able to find a trade partner for Hardaway or Lee without attaching an additional asset to the deal, such as future draft compensation or their 2017 first-round pick, Frank Ntilikina.

I doubt they'll be able to find a taker for that THJ contract without giving up assets. I'd jump all over Frankie Smokes. That guy has legit SF size. Unfortunately, we don't have the expiring contracts they'd have been interested in.

Have we considered Blake's fit with Nurkic?

Feel like they take away from each other. Would rather continue to allow Nurkic to develop and grow in his role than trade for a guy that we aren't winning anything significant with in all likelihood.

I understand wanting to improve, but I feel any Blake trade has the potential to damage the long term health of the franchise for little immediate gain, and that's far from guaranteed.

I think our best chance of a big trade is next year. We will have 40 million in expiring assets. The key to a combo trade for ET, Harkless, or Meyers will be the cheap draft picks and quality rookie contracts that will be attached to them. Even though many of you think Neil is an idiot, if he can add another enticing draft pick this summer, to go along with Simons, Trent, Collin and our 2020 pick........he should be able to put together a good package for a good player on a bad team who is needing to rebuild. At least that is my hope.

Cbssports has an article in which they list each team's most interesting trade chip and most realistic trade chip.

Interesting is CJ for obvious reasons. It mentions a long rumored CJ for Love rumor (ewwwwwww).

Realistic is Maurice Harkless. They say some teams may view his $11 million for next year as manageable. What doesn't make sense is that it says we would want to trade him for a wing. Um CBS, he is a wing.

Give me either one.

Btw since the Melo ship has evidently sailed I think we should start a Courtney Lee thread. Long overdue.
Hardaway sucks IMO. Hes a worse version of CJ. Has all the same struggles (and is maybe even worse in those areas), and is very inefficient.

According to “rumors” the Jazz are interested in Porter Jr and Conley.

If Utah were to pull off one of those two and we did nothing? Well, revived the Olshey threads....

Why is Porter Junior available? (Oh Otto Porter-I thought it was Michael-never mind)

I just read the article on Conley. They are saying it would take Rubio and Favors to get it done. I wonder if that is an improvement for the Jazz

My question would be if you’re Memphis isnt that just moving sideways? I assume if they want to trade Conley and / or Gasol. They would want to get younger and get picks.

The problem for most teams is they have to match Conley's 30 million salary. The Jazz only have a few players who can get you there. Hopefully there will be players next year who are good but need to be moved since we have so many expiring contracts.

Favors, Rubio, Sefelosha, and a 1st Round Pick for Conley and Green make a ton of sense. Have Favors go to a 3rd team for some combination of a late 1st, 2nd(s), and young piece(s) back to Memphis.

EDIT: Just saw the suggestion above.

UTAH Gets: Conley, JaMychal Green, M.Leonard
MEM Gets: Aminu, Sefelosha, Swanigan, Stauskas, 2019 UTAH 1st, 2019 POR 1st
POR Gets: Porter Jr, Udoh (TPE)
WAS Gets: Rubio, Favors, Future 2nds

Well I would definitely do that trade.
I am surprised at Otto Porter's measurements. 6'8" 205?
I thought he was at least 220. He plays bigger

Jakes emergence makes it even more urgent that we “dump” a contract. Sunshine is gonna get paid, and as we saw with Crabbe, it only takes one team to force Portland into a decision they don’t want to be faced with. They’re going to have a tough time filling out the roster if he gets paid and no one else leaves.

On a somewhat related note, how much trade value does Layman have?

Who do you have in mind? For example, I wouldn’t trade him for Prince. I’m also not sure he has enough value to bring back a more clear upgrade.

Would you include him in a trade for Porter or Griffin?
