I think it's important to note that just about every rumor involves expiring deals.
Well yeah except Prince.

I said just about every one. I consider the Prince rumor to be part of the Lin rumor as I don't see us giving up a 1st for just Prince.Well yeah except Prince.
Maybe they want to move Aminu in a different deal.JaMychal Green is no better than Al-Farouq Aminu. I don't understand why we'd trade for him unless we got him back as part of a salary dump. I have doubts whether this rumor is even real.
Id hope Blazers target Rabb instead.https://www.blazersedge.com/platfor...mphis-grizzlies-jamychal-green-garrett-temple

JaMychal Green and Garrett Temple are reportedly on Portland’s radar.
Im less optimistic we make a deal this year than ever.If nothing else, I’d say we’ve been connected to more names now than in recent memory. Don’t know what it means, but I also think we’re in better position to be buyers, standings wise. Not sure about asset wise.
They have equal contracts, positions, ability... doesnt make sense to get Green to trade Aminu.Maybe they want to move Aminu in a different deal.
If you have a separate deal for Aminu, then of course it does. If Aminu nets you something elsewhere. They have equal contracts, positions, ability... doesnt make sense to get Green to trade Aminu.
What youd get for Aminu is what youd have to give up for Green. Doesnt make sense to swap them.If you have a separate deal for Aminu, then of course it does. If Aminu nets you something elsewhere.
I agree with a few other posters, only trade(s) we are making, if any, are salary dump trades. I will be shocked if we actually upgrade any talent.
id do the Love & Hood deal.Trade Meyers, Turner, 1st for Kevin Love and Rodney Hood
Trade Baldwin and a second to Chicago for Carmelo
Okay, the Melo part people aren't going to like but it's such a small part of this so here's my idea. It can be broken into smaller trades or as a big 4 team trade.
Sacramento gets Harkless, Swanigan, and Por 2019 1st (lottery protected)
Atlanta gets Por 2020 2nd (unless it's 56-60) and Miami 2021 2nd (via Sac)
Chicago gets Nik Stauskas and Cash (via Blazers)
Portland gets Taurean Prince, Skal Labissiere, and Carmelo Anthony
We get under the luxury tax line and add two players who are still on their rookie deals for one more year. Melo is to give our bench an offensive PF.
Dame, CJ, Prince, Aminu, Nurk
Turner, Curry, Layman, Melo, Collins
Baldwin, Simons, Trent, Skal, Leonard
We improve a little bit while making the finances better too. I'm not completely in love with it but I think it makes sense from the front office perspective. If Prince ends up being a dependable part of the core (or at least more so than Harkless) then this trade is a big win.
I still think there was a strategy in acquiring 2 guards and drafting two guards.
What could it be?

This is kinda what I was thinking. He's prolly as valuable as a mid first round pick maybe.
The contract and age are hurdles, but I think he's worth more than our lotto protected pick. Depends on the team. Unfortunately, we probably value him more than everyone else.

He is almost 25 and in theory, other teams might perceive him to have less upside than a potential first rounder.I doubt how is his age and contract a hurdle.

And he will be a free agent in 6 months and expecting a much larger deal than a rookie scale deal for a ~24th pick.
I'm comparing Jake's value to our lotto protected first.
I don't think they are getting a 1st for him without taking on a bad contract so maybe. The fact that they are future 2nds they'd probably like and they take no money back. Not sure though. You think Atlanta gives up Prince for 2 2nds?
This makes no sense to me, for either team, based on their salaries. and who we would need to move to get them.
Agreed, the only thing that would make sense is if it was part of a 3 team deal say for Love (just an example) where Aminu, Green, and Temple went to the Cavs as expirings and Turner and a pick went to Memphis and Love to Portland. Seems like the Cavs would need more than just expiring contracts though.Agreed. I can see Green being useful, but I don't see how it becomes value to us. Do we use a 1st to add him and dump a contract? Leonard and a 1st for Green? Does that really improve us at all this year, or going forward? Seems like an overpay for Green. He's decent, just not worth a 1st. Even with the salary dump, IMO.
Maybe if it was a backup plan to moving Aminu but, how many pieces are you really going to move? It's not fantasy basketball, or 2K, a team competing for HCA, regardless of what you can say about their contending chances, just doesn't seem likely to have like 3 deals in succession at the deadline, overhauling 1/4th the roster or something.
Harkless and a couple of2nds to Memphis for green and temple. Saves them almost 5 million this year, and they're close to the tax right now, so breathing room could be nice. Then those 2 aminu, Simon's for love? Is Simon's enough? Getting entirely out of his contract, and pairing Simons and Sexton in the backcourt?Agreed, the only thing that would make sense is if it was part of a 3 team deal say for Love (just an example) where Aminu, Green, and Temple went to the Cavs as expirings and Turner and a pick went to Memphis and Love to Portland. But hadn't thought of the expiring contract angle, and am now intrigued at the possibilities it could open up. Clippers want to be players in FA next season. Swapping Gallinari for Leonard saves them over 10 million next season. If we move Harkless and Leonard for Gallinar, Harkless to Memphis for expirings?Agreed, the only thing that would make sense is if it was part of a 3 team deal say for Love (just an example) where Aminu, Green, and Temple went to the Cavs as expirings and Turner and a pick went to Memphis and Love to Portland. Yeah, the only issue is it would have to be one big trade as you can't combine players after you trade for them for 2 months. But hadn't thought of the expiring contract angle, and am now intrigued at the possibilities it could open up. So many possibilities.
Oh for sure. Just easier to type out as separate. But I think a mo for those 2 is doable without tons of assets back to them. Something similar to Wilson chandler and lin deals from offseasonYeah, the only issue is it would have to be one big trade as you can't combine players after you trade for them for 2 months.
Looks like Thon Maker has requested a trade, any interest?
I also now wonder if our rumored interest in Lin was as an expiring deal, more than actual interest in Lin. Lin and Prince for Hark or Leonard and a 1st allows us in a 3 way deal to use a 13 million expiring.Agreed, the only thing that would make sense is if it was part of a 3 team deal say for Love (just an example) where Aminu, Green, and Temple went to the Cavs as expirings and Turner and a pick went to Memphis and Love to Portland.
