I'd be ecstatic if Jaylen Brown were involved. A collins + pick for Brown trade would be tremendous.

They are so overloaded with guys who are bigger SG or SF type players. It would seem that at some point, something would have to give. The Pelicans might just wait for summer for what the Celtics have in terms of players/picks.

The Kyrie domino should determine a lot. If he wants to leave and they decide to cut bait next week, I think it makes it that much more likely that they try to rid themselves of the Hayward contract as well.

That trade yesterday is exactly why we should not attach picks to anybody to get rid of contracts this year. Having expiring contracts actually gives you opportunity to trade for players and acquire extra assets. You can get picks/young players with potential for taking on long term deals like Dallas did yesterday or you can just throw in some expirings along with your young players and picks and reach for a star. They are a very useful commodity.

Welp, the Thunder just opened up a roster spot and took a little bit off their tax number by trading TLC to the Bulls.

Normally that would be the case....but there are going to be SO MANY expiring contracts next season for the same reason Olshey overpaid for the 4 players he offered contracts to. (Crabbe gone). We went over that a bit in the podcast if you are interested.

If Wes were available, I would trade Turner for anything anyone would give us, then sign Wes.

Are we past the trade deadline yet?

unfortunately not and then the fallout of not making trade a or trade b will begin with all the complaining about Olshey once again. This forum tends to be stuck on wash, rinse and repeat.

If someone believes NO hasn't done a good job, is this not the right place to voice that opinion?
I get that it can be frustrating to hear it over and over and over...

Not everyone has to be happy with where the team is at, or what they believe the outlook is. People have varying views and really if we had the same views this would be a pretty boring place...

You know up until this year I was an Olshey apologist. However this last summer he admitted making a mistake by not making a move to have this team more ready for the playoffs and that he'd be looking to add proven players that get it done in the post season. After drafting two rookies that haven't played any meaningful minutes so far and signing Stauskas and Curry who have a combined 0 playoff appearances in the NBA I certainly believe it's within people's rights to question why he can't accomplish what he personally said he needed to do.

How many times can you complain about the same shit over and over and over again? Practically every trade thread in this forum has some of the same or similar bashing of the same person. This is called the "trade deadline thread". There are several fire or bash Olshey threads already in place and 80% of the bashing is immature name calling with little to know basis. What does that accomplish? (a perfect example is a post above by props) As for this forum, it can be pretty boring with so much animosity and constant bashing as well.

I guess I can complain about it a lot? I dont know...
Im not sure at this point how much Power NO actually has to make trades but usually (The Blazers are in an odd ownership position right now) the GM is the guy who is supposed to do trades, so if a fan thinks NO should do a trade I guess they can complain about it here if they want.

I sort of agree with you, not fully, but I understand your frustration at least. The only thing I’ll say is it feels like its been about two years since anything meaningful has gone on in terms of additions to the team (Nurk), I like Curry and some of the young guys but they either havent played yet, or havent played enough to know how meaningul they are.

I also see why Blazer fans are frustrated for many of us the last time the Blazers won a championship was long before we were born.

That’s because league sources say the Pels are willing to do a more general strip-down of the team in the hunt for future assets. The most desirable non-Davis piece is forward Nikola Mirotic, who has been sitting out for the last week with a so-called calf strain.

Mirotic missed time with an ankle injury in December but is still having one of his most productive seasons, averaging 16.7 points and 8.3 rebounds. He is making 36.8 percent of his 3-pointers and his 59.1 true shooting percentage is the best of his career.

According to a league source, one team that has expressed interest in Mirotic is the Sixers, who have been eager to land a stretch-4 after having traded away Dario Saric in the Jimmy Butler package. New Orleans is seeking a first-round pick, and the Sixers have all their own first-rounders and a Miami first-rounder in 2021, plus an enormous stash of second-rounders: three (including Chicago’s) this year, three (including New York's or Brooklyn's) next year and four in 2021.

There’s also the team that was the frontrunner at this time last year to land Mirotic from Chicago — the Jazz. Sources told Sporting News that they, too, have interest in Mirotic.

Utah is seeking a perimeter-oriented big man to play with Rudy Gobert and could land Mirotic with a first-round pick. The big question would be whether Utah would ship out starting forward Derrick Favors, whose contract is not guaranteed for next year, or piece together a deal featuring some young players (Raul Neto, Tony Bradley) along with a pick.

Portland, which is very much a buyer for roster depth at the deadline, could be a factor for Mirotic, and the Rockets have long coveted him as a long-range big man. Both are expected to make a pitch for him.

Can’t wait until the Jazz get him and then knock us out in the first round.

Yep, it’s part of my worst scenerios post:)
Id love Wes to come back, but it sounds like he and Olshey kind of poured gasoline on their ends of the bridge and watched it burn. I do believe wes appreciates Blazer fans (he has to know a lot of love him), but I dont think he’s ever coming back.

Imagine Utah with Conley and Mirotic.

Conley
Mitchell
Ingles
Mirotic
Gobert

Hmm...
