Then I challenge you to go back and read his posts. He never advocated for the Mirotic trade. He merely responded to the people saying we don't have the contracts to make it work.

I didn't claim that he advocated for it. Just that it's kind of ridiculous to bash Olshey because we had the assets when it would be stupid to do the deal for that package. In my humble opinion, of course.

The Blazers had two expirings, neither of whom do they want to trade and who are arguably worth more than Mirotic.

well yeah, that's an argument; so is the inverse. And god knows we don't have enough arguments here

They certainly can re-sign Chief if they want, using Bird rights.

they could re-sign Mirotic using Bird Rights.

but the thing is, right now Portland will be 4-6M below the tax line with only 10 players. If they add a player using their draft pick, they would be 2-4M below the tax line...with ownership questions and without PA's deep pockets

and Portland would have Aminu, Layman, Curry, & Hood as free agents. And if Layman keeps producing similar to how he has been, he's going to get a good offer sheet; and right now, he sure looks like the priority free agent

I think Aminu is going to walk thru the same exit door that Ed Davis did, and Curry could be beside him, so any future value for Portland you see in those players is pretty questionable

but the more important point is that the Blazers need him as much or more than Mirotic for this year's playoff push.

really?? what's a better PF rotation, Aminu + Zach or Mirotic + Zach? One better defensively, another better offensively, but it was offense that failed in last year's playoffs. And would Portland really be a worse team if Curry's minutes were replaced by Layman, Harkless, Hood, and Turner?

I do not see any compelling argument for either situation, but we do know that the Aminu + Zach rotation didn't do a lot of good in the playoffs

There are a lot of reasons to bash Olshey, but I don't see this Mirotic deal being one of them.

geeeezuz....I didn't bash Olshey for this...do you get that? What I bashed was the reasons people gave for defending Olshey for the Mirotic trade because they weren't accurate. Portland did have expiring contracts sufficient and they did have draft assets

But what about the Finals?!
