Before the 2022 draft, if someone said the Blazers could trade the #7 pick for LeBron straight up, 100% of the fans would have said do it. No brainer.

Now, if you said the Blazers could trade Sharpe strait up for LeBron...:smack:

What’s most impressive is his defense. He’s a 19 year old in a generation of no defense and he realizes he has the tools to be an excellent defender and he utilizes that.
the footwork on defense is eye opening. he generally keeps guys in front of him.

shocking for a blazer; much less a 19yr old rook.

nurk said it best about shae..." he doesn't yet know how to hoop; this is just beginning."

I think the best part of this is Nurk had a 27/15 night, Ant had a 30/7/5 night, and all the talk is on our 19 year old rookie!

Yet I heard that it was GB3’s dunk that made SC Top-10. Dunno if that’s accurate or not, but that’s what I was texted.

Here it comes. Blasphemy.

Sharpe shows talent, athleticism and potential. That is a given.

However as I watched the game tonight, I kept watching for him and yes, he made a few jaw-dropping plays but overall, he was largely a non-factor.
A role player.
An NPC.

Do I believe he can be more? Yes.

However, he seems to still have timidity in his overall game.

That's it.

That being said, I love the fact that he shows enough this early that he gets as much time as he gets and shows it is earned. I look forward to seeing his growth. Just not there yet.
He's only a role player because he chose to be in the second half. He passed on several open looks, even a couple open dunks for open three point shooters that didn't make it. Saying that a guy getting his first start and playing his sixth game above the high school level "still" has timidity is kind of funny. He was a star in the first half of his first game starting and his sixth game past the high school level.

That impressed most of us and Dame. This young man is for real. He's a future superstar. Like Booker now does, at some point Shae will overtake Dame with his game but the two will be a dynamic duo. I don't know what that means for Ant. In today's game they could be a dynamic trio on the perimeter or Ant could be traded in for some interior fire power. We'll just have to wait and see but Shaedon Sharpe is for real!!!

I think Sharpe fills out and is the 3 we've been looking for forever.

If only this team had a GM that didn't get "fleeced" last summer, as all the other GM's in the league line up to take advantage of him. (green font).
Yes, I am going to bring this up all season, as it is beginning to look like my bald headed buddy fleeced the entire fucking league.

That would be really cool but during Dame's prime he might be the perfect 2 that complements Dame and Ant might be better off running his own offence. We'll see maybe Dame, Ant, Shae, Jerami and Nurk are a championship starting lineup but maybe there's something better out there.

I didn’t get to watch the first half, but I saw in the highlights Sharpe’s first basket was used a Nurk screen to dibble into a mid-range. Sharpe needs to attempt that shot once a game like it’s a drill, let him shoot another if he makes it.

That one play is enough for me to be convinced he’s at least a net neutral. With an athletic backup C who can play, Nurk’s inconsistencies won’t be as much as of a focus imo.

I’d have been frustrated if I woke up to see anything but a W. Went to sleep at half time.

These next 4 games (MEM, @PHX, @PHX, @Mia) are going to be tough without Dame. Some tough games after that on a long 6 game road trip.

I get what you’re saying. The thing is…. What he has shown, essentially going from HS to the NBA, not playing real games for almost two years, missing summer league…. It’s insane and tells me his ceiling is pretty freaking high.

It’s hard not to be giddy and dream a bit.

Fully agree. Not there yet, but I am looking forward to the development and seeing him get there.

Why two consecutive road games at Phoenix? Don't think I have ever seen that before.

I think the NBA started scheduling teams for games like that in 2020 or 2021. I believe their reasoning was to reduce the overall amount of travel for teams.
Better for the environment maybe a bonus too

The Nuggets will bounce back from their bad start. They already are. I could see them finishing higher than 4. They are a good team. They have defense issues though that could continue to hurt them.

Utah is interesting. They could continue to be good or like the Suns a few years back, start really good and then fizzle out, once teams figure them out.
Sharpe has about 100 minutes of real game action since high school, over 18 months ago. Might want to allow for him being tentative at times

Can’t even imagine being in NBA at 19 playing against all those guys that you were just watching on tv. I’d want to try and fit in take my opportunities when they came but also not step on any of the vets toes. He took 12 shots that’s about starter amount so it wasn’t like he wasn’t aggressive.

Good point. Makes sense financially too.

I like it from the competition aspect as well. Like a miniature in season playoff series. Like playing a game 1/2. It’s different when you’ve got the same team twice in a row. Scout them today, and tomorrow. Study film from last nights win/loss and apply any changes tomorrow. Something you don’t really get outside of the playoffs. It will help some of these teams without playoff experience if they choose to take it seriously and treat it as such.

Low key one of the best changes the NBA has made in a long time.

This roster is nice mix youth and vets. Cracks me up hearing Simons is expandable now that we have Sharpe, that kid is stud 14 3’s in last two games. I like Sharpe at the 3 with some time at the 2 when Dame or Simons go to bench. The odd guy out is likely Little or Hart. Hart is glue type guy that I hate the thought of losing but don’t see how we can afford to keep him.

future is as bright as I’ve seen in years. As Dame gets older we now have guys who can slowly take the reigns

The really interesting thing about this kid is that he is this crazy mix of humble and confident. His answers also tend to be a bit blunt and short but I think that's just because he doesn't overthink things. It will interesting to see how he grows in this manner.

On a side note I can't believe this kid is only 3 years older than my son.

it goes for other teams too

phila just had b2b games in toronto

actually, it wasnt b2b, but they were consecutive games in toronto

I asked that a week or two ago. What I noticed is every team has to play two consecutive road games in the same city. The thing I noticed that is different is all the other ones I looked at gets a night off between the two games, where the Blazers have to play them back to back nights.
