Are you suggesting Ant won’t average 20 in a full season? Is that your argument?

To stay on the floor with Lillard and make his 20 he has to be much better defender. If not, we're coming back to Dame/CJ problem. Was his 22ppg with or without Lillard?

Lillard finds the open man. If Ant continues on his current path, he won't have any trouble avg. 20 + per game. Take that to the bank.

The bigger question is whether we can keep Grant happy. I remember hearing that he wants to be the man, which I’m sure he understands coming to Portland he won’t be. But can we get him enough shots to stay happy? Nurk also has an ego.

Lillard is a leader, and will do just that. I think the guys will all buy in to Chauncey's plan. It's about winning.

Would having Hart in the starting lineup help?

He's only 6-8? Listed as 6-9 on some sites. he's a PF at best.
Blazers need to bring on a buyout Center and play Drew Eubanks as well.
Almost every team that went far in the playoffs used an undersized forward as backup center. It's all about switchability. I assume Watford will get backup PF and backup C minutes.

I love that idea, and having Ant be like our John Havlicek. But most seem to poo poo that idea. Ant would still avg. 20 in that position.

Yeah, he shot 47.8% from 3P on catch and shoot per NBA.com - and did it on 4 attempts per game, so this is not a small sample size

Dame, Hart, Nas, Grant, Nurk. Ant, GP II, Sharpe, Winslow/Watford, & Eubanks.

This is the stat I think a lot of people are sleeping on. Ant showed last year that he has come a loooong way as a PG playmaker. He will still get a chance to do that when Dame is on the bench. But, Ant is the actual best in the entire NBA at catch and shoot 3 pointers. If the coaches can have him focus on running off ball when Dame is in the game, he is going to be icing many rims. He should be studying game film of Curry and how moves without the ball.

Or it could win 50. Depends on how the youth performs, and chemistry comes together with new players. Health of course .
many other teams in the west would need to have injuries for that to happen. We are 6-10th in the west in terms of talent on our team.

Is there really much difference in size between Watford and Eubanks. From what I can tell they have the same standing reach, while Watford has a 3" longer wingspan. But I do agree we need a cheap buyout vet with size.

I think starting Dame, Ant, Grant, and Nurk is a lock. Now, how do they handle that 5th starting spot, and 2nd unit rotation minutes is the question.

I'm guessing Winslow starts at SF, and Payton and Hart are the first two off the bench. Those two could conceivably cover every position from PG to PF.

The nice thing about that is that Ant basically replicates (on offense) both CJ and Seth Curry from the 2018-19 season. He can be a lead guard, secondary SG and he can be an elite catch and shoot target. Seth Curry was actually a surprisingly good defender. Hopefully Ant can make progress there as well.

Winslow ahead of Nas???
Yep. Nas has to prove he can stay healthy and produce.

Last year's Per36:
- J Winslow: ppg 14.4, rpg 8.4, apg 3.9, drtg 114, PER 14.1
- N Little: ppg 13.6, rpg 7.8, apg 1.8, drtg 116, PER 13.5

Yes, Little is younger. But he's in his 4th year. No time for donation of minutes to develop him. I say put the player out there that gives the Blazers the most productive minutes.

Check Winslow's true shooting.

Or not. Our players are progressing, and I Don't Doubt Dame.

Not a bad plan. I do think if we start Ant at the 2 then we start Winslow at the 3 as you suggest. Winslow has good chemistry with Nurk and we have enough offense with the other 4 starters.

If we start Hart at the 2 then I would go with Little at the 3. That leaves Gp2 and Ant along with Little, Eubanks, and Watford with the 2nd unit. If Brown can improve his outside shot then I can see him in there at times instead of Eubanks. That 2nd unit could run.

Not sure where SS fits quite yet. Or Walker for that matter

Agreed. Nas is a more efficient shooter.

But if I'm coach, I'm not looking for a lot of scoring from these guys. I'm guessing Dame, Simons, or Grant will be on the floor. I need a hustle guy that defends and makes the team better. The glue guy.

i'll just disagree with that one. blazers have invested too much development time on nas to have him backup Winslow.

With Dame/Ant/Grant/Nurk all wanting shots, having a non-scorer in the starting lineup might not be a bad thing.

Nas is that guy. Both are low usage players but Nas can actually space the floor a little bit.

Yeah....it's Nas.....
