Dame and Ant 35. 26 for Scoot, Sharpe is a fulltime SF.

Yeah probably not ideal but its better than dumping Ant for Maurice Morris or something.

Dame ain't staying for that. Neither is Scoot in 9 years. No one is advocating trading Ant for Morris.

Richman's thoughts are:

1. Jalen McDaniels
2. Oubre

3. Prince
4. Torrey Craig

5. Max Strus
6. Troy Brown Jr.

Knox is currently under contract. Portland has a team option on to keep him or not.
If we don't hear about Blazers waiving him by midnight tonight, his contract is guaranteed for next season.

Happy to hear about Badji. I don't see the value in Butler. I think there are better prospects out there, but the QO really doesn't mean much.
Yes, what I mean is they usually do this in batches. So if it's not here, I think it's most likely we don't pick up his option.

I've liked McDaniels for awhile. He fits what we are looking for. Full MLE is expensive for him though.

Scoot is 19 years old and we have control over him for 9 years. There's no reason to sell potentially exceedingly low on a potentially much higher-value asset like Ant just to immediately open minutes for Scoot.

It's certainly a situation that will need to resolve itself eventually, but taking cents on the dollar is probably not the right approach...

The trend for top players these days is to get the best possible contract and then demand a trade if they are not happy. Yes the team has control, but we all know how that works out. Other teams won't trade for players who don't want to go there. Bottom line is the players are in control

That's what they should've done. I would hope Portland would try to do something like that if they were in the same position.

Not sure if that should be the model since Kuptcheck never traded the picks; all he ultimate did was just took the player he thought was best. I don't see how that turned out any different then him just telling everyone after the lottery who they were taking. They'd have the same results.

I'd say Boston should be the model, trading Fultz for Tatum and getting picks. That was brilliant.

I've been beyond unimpressed with Richman's insight or NBA knowledge.

Strus is very likely to get more than the full MLE so I don't see how thats possible.

Craig is getting pretty old and basically played off the court for a Suns team with little depth, I don't understand that.

I've though Oubre makes sense even though I question the defense.

I'm not really sure on the others.

Anybody know the Badji and Butler QO amounts? I saw one list that had them over a million each which would be bad IMO but if they're only two way deals maybe its much much less.

I'd highly suspect we wave Knox. Isn't the deadline tomorrow? Seems like Jody has had a consistent theme as an owner and its cutting any salary possible.

If he is not waved I'd think the team has a trade lined up. But I highly doubt that will be the case.

The deadline to guarantee Knox is today.

Yeah this is concerning, its almost like why even have contracts? Just have everybody be a free agent every offseason with a hard cap.

Its as difficult to read as the US tax code. Theres a reason we have companies translate all of that stuff to simple basic English. NBA teams must have someone who does this, I've never seen that publicly available though. Larry Coon always had his website/FAQ that was pretty good but I imagine it will take him or someone else awhile to get this up.
the CBA text has always been available. Normal people just don't look for it.

I'm not normal.

I agree drafting better is the optimal strategy.

My idea comes from the place that most players make market value, where 1st draft picks are often under market value, which makes them artificially more valuable. I know why they have a rookie scale, but I can't think of why they'd want to artificially make future draft picks and players on rookie deals a more valuable asset.

It would be a tradeable contract. So Richman was floating that they might try to delay the deadline so that they could opt-in if a trade came along.

I'm not sure I'd call it a "tradeable contract" but it would be a contract we could use in a much larger trade if we need to match salary. Yeah that makes sense to extend the deadline, and he likely does it as he could potentially pocked a free $3 million for the delay.

I guess the reason he wouldn't is if the Blazers are likely to cut him and he then loses an opportunity to sign at the start of free agency with another team. Not sure if we would have to give him a little bit of a guarantee to push this back.

50-50 Portland trades Ant or Nurk, maybe 60-40

20-80 they trade Dame.

50-50 they trade Little

70-30 they use at least the tax-MLE

40-60 they use the Payton TPE

handle those odds carefully, they came directly from my colon

As good as any other prognostic tool.
