Grant is making almost twice as much as either of those guys (while the cap has gone up about 50% since 2016), he's older, he's been hurt three straight years, the team is not built to win, AND he has a player option. The new CBA is going to punish teams for signing guys to big, long-term deals unless they are amazing players, and it seems the whole NBA understands that except for the Blazers based on free agency this summer. Not saying it's a great contract (or even a good one)...and hyperbole aside, it's not the worst the team has signed in the last 15 years.
Evan Turner and Allen Crabbe would like a word with you.
Grant's deal is worse, and given we are still paying for Crabbe (we traded him for Nicholson, and he's still hitting our cap) that's saying something.
