Why isn't Jabari getting more minutes?

Sharpe had decent moments, but it didn't look like they ran anything for him.

2 games in, he's not doing bad. Had a sub-par shooting tonight (and he's 1-8 from 3 over the season..apparently it's an epidemic with the team).

Getting smoked by Luka Garza?

Well at least no one got hurt, and they helped their draft chances.

On to the next loss!

Shaedon funny enough did look rusty tonight. Is there such thing as delayed rust? I still wish he would have got more than 21 minutes. Unless he was saying he was gassed which he might have been, then I want him getting 30 minutes a night even if he's coming off the bench.

I wish Ayton would seek contact the way Banton does. He goes to the foul line a lot. Last night he pushed Wembayama so hard on D that it knocked him back about five feet. Tonight he was in there battling Gobert, forcing him out of the paint. Successfully defended against the stronger, bigger Reid a couple times.

He's on a minutes restriction, which I would guess is about 20 minutes a night. Same reason why Williams didn't play a ton of minutes.

the circumstantial 'evidence' seems to be mounting that Portland's veterans have very little trade value...Blazers stuck with them?

* Ayton: in 10 games he's had 8 FTA and blocked 6 shots
* Grant: in 10 games he's had 43 FTA and blocked 15 shots

and people want to trade Grant and keep Ayton?

Not me.

It's the 2nd most favorable between Boston, Portland and the Bucks pick, not just Portland and Milwaukee.

And if they're *still* in the lotto in 4 seasons, this pick is the least of their concerns.
Correct, and with the 2nd apron coming for Boston they might be a shadow of the team they are today. Or Brown/Tatum could have a fluke bad season from injuries. Lots of possibilities for two of those picks to be great.

With the strategic direction of our team, high variance of draft picks it's very possible our rebuild doesn't improve as we hope. Will suck if Washington gets that pick while Deni is a mediocre 9th man.

Doesn’t Deni at least have a desirable contract if we want to move him?
Problem is we gave up 1-2 lottery picks for him. I'm sure we could dump him in a trade at any time. But that would be a massive fail to lose lottery picks and a 2029 pick that is unprotected as high as #2 overall. Not looking good 10 games after the trade. This could be much worse than the Roco or Nance trades.

Even if Deni was playing much better it's a questionable acquisition since our team is so far from needing role players to fill out a contending roster. We literally don't know if we have a single starter for a playoff team.

Grant is a PF that had a single rebound tonight. 11 Blazers out rebounded him. If he is scoring 25 and shooting the three well you live with it. When his shot sucks like these recent games he just looks worthless out there.

It's fine getting blown out when it's our youth and a single vet which we'd expect. But paying these three vets 90 million to provide so little speaks to what a stupid direction this franchise has built this team in recent years.

I think people that prefer Ayton is more that Clingan isn't ready for big minutes but we have a lot of young wing options stuck behind Grant.

Personally I'd rather have Timelord/Duop in front of Clingan than Ayton.

Really I'm fine with any single one of Grant/Ayton/Ant on this team. One vet is fine. Two is the problem. Having all 3 is a delusional way to rebuild a team.

Probably just super amped up for his first game back, then settled into a more casual pace for game 2. Not that he wasn't pushing the pace up the court, but his smooth style makes it easy to fall off the wrong side of the razor's edge of intensity and relaxation.

If Edwards continues shooting anywhere near this well from 3, I take back anything bad I've set about him. Complete transformation since Paris.

Hold on, we can finally complete the Dame/Heat deal!

Bucks get:
Simons
Deni

Heat get:
Dame

PDX gets:
Herro
Duncan
Jovic
2026 1st

Eh

Since you like numbers and statistics:

Grant: PER 13.2 TS% 0.521, TRB% 6.5, STL% 1.2, USG% 23.4, WS/48 0.039 Net Rtg (O-D): 106-117 = -11 Age: 30
Ayton: PER 16.9 TS% 0.540, TRB% 19.0, STL% 1.4, USG% 19.4, WS/48 0.093 Net Rtg (O-D): 111-112 = -1 Age: 26

Yes, Ayton doesn't do a great job of filling the 'traditional' big of blocking shots and getting to the line.... But he does seem to have a better impact on the game.

which player do you think has more trade value?

Neither? I honestly think their trade value is equal (which sadly isn't very high).

It really depends upon the team needs.

maybe

I'm just inclined to think that a wing like Grant, with some 2-way and 3&D skills would have better value that a square peg C like Ayton. That's not to say Grant has high value; he obviously doesn't. I just think more teams would be willing to spend on a wing than a C like Ayton
