The Wizards get one of our 2029 1sts.

I know that. I thought he meant two futures. Forgot we gave them the 14th pick this year.

i think the deni trade was fine. he fits a positional need and is way better than he has shown so far.

the roster build problem is stemming from ant/grant/ayton hogging the majority of the minutes and/or usage when it's becoming increasingly clear that they don't want to be here.

Ah, OK. I was just the opposite. I forgot we gave up the 2029 pick when I was looking up the terms of the deal last week.

Who does Anthony Edwards say helped him dial in his three point shot??? No matter how much it costs we need to pick that guy up as our shooting coach ASAP!

Right, Bub

We could have got Knecht
The Blazers could have done that, but then they would be in the luxury tax and that’s a big no no. Plus Joe wants some team to over pay for Grant. He should have been the one to get dumped, now Joe is fighting to get 1st round picks back.

Probably just a lot of proper reps. It's not rocket science.
His shot was not that clean coming into the league and now it's one of the prettiest in the game. I think someone helped him straiten it out but who knows. I also don't think it's just a coincidence that our team has so many guys who have nice looking shots that won't fall.

How am I the FUCKING VOICE OF REASON!!!

Do any of you realize the clusterfuck Joe has to clean up? Yes, has…as in present tense. Joe tried to keep Dame. He signed Grant, tried desperately to trade the 3rd pick, and had Ayton landed with another package. Then he had to pivot when no one wanted the third pick for any value. So he drafted Scoot, who was a consensus top 3 pick. Then Clingan, who was a consensus top 5ish pick. I wouldn’t have drafted either, but both good picks. Murray will play in this league a long time, Rupert is on a good trajectory. He then traded for a young player who has improved every year and has one of the best contracts in the league.

Chauncey telling truths right now. "That was fucking embarrassing." I agree.

This team needs Jerami, Ant and Deandre gone tomorrow. It can't wait until the deadline. Just ship them off because when your vets can't bring any level of professionalism they're not only getting in the way of your prospects getting PT but also they're setting terrible precedence.

Chauncey just said that the game tonight was fucking embarrassing. He told the guys if they sleep well tonight they are losers.

At this point it's his fucking mess that he's made that he needs to clean up. He can't continue to let these role players who only have the heart and minds of role players lead this team. None of Ant, Jerami or Deandre is a leader and so they're bad for our young guys... while simultaneously taking reps away from the same young guys.

Ant's playing like he can't wait to get traded.

The problem is he's hurting his trade value by doing that.

Is it my imagination, BTW, or has he shot the ball poorly in the first half of almost every game?

Yeah, I keep thinking he needs to change his warm-up routine, because he's ice cold to start the games.

Of course, he always has that stoned look like Brandon Ingram, so maybe he just needs to burn off his warm-up routine...

I think we had three and isn't in the middle of the three?

A lot can happen between now and then, but I just think from what I've seen of Deni lately, it looks like that was a 1st that didn't need to be dealt, and, yeah, that will hurt us because it's an asset we could have used in a trade even if we'd built a good roster by then.

You look at what the Grizzlies have put together. Several of those guys we played tonight were young guys that were undrafted. Aldami was the 30th pick in the first round. I think Desmond Bane who didn't even play tonight was the 30th pick.

That team is a great example of being able to maximize assets. Jay Huff looked like he was every bit as good as Edey and Clingan.

All these guys making millions and don't have to show up for work. Damn, what a deal.

Every player on the Blazers was acquired by Joe or signed a contract when Joe was the GM, as of the 2023-24 season!

Long past time to try and blame Joe's mess on Olshey. This Blazers mess of a roster is 100% Cronin.

I don't fault Joe for any of those picks you list that he selected.

I do fault him for having 5 worthless vets eating 100+ million in Grant Ayton Ant Timelord Thybulle. It never made any sense to build around these guys after Lillard was traded.

Yeah, it's looking like we should have just traded the 14 for future 2nds. Hopefully, Deni gets better.

I'm sure somebody did. There are probably dozens of people in every NBA city who could give him good drills and the right feedback. He just has to want to do it and actually put in the work.

Spurs got a future Minnesota pick, we should have done that type of deal if we didn't want to use the pick.

Trading for a role player to win when we don't have a single starter makes zero strategic sense.

Joe signed Ant and Jerami to their contracts. He has acquired every player on this roster besides the two of them and again, he gave Ant and Jerami those contracts. Ant didn't sign an extension so even if both his and Jerami's contracts had been agreed to while Olshey was still here, Joe still inked those deals. It is Joe's mess that Joe has made... if people want to get into speculation about Vulcan tampering with Joe's tenure that's fine but that's just Joe not knowing how to manage his managers.

This roster and the fact that we still have three role players in Ant, Jerami and Deandre that are getting treated like all stars on this team... that's on Joe and Chauncey but the buck stops with Joe for me when it comes to all things basketball. With Joe's history with Vulcan he should be able to sell those people on anything that he wants to do that doesn't put this team in the luxury tax.

chauncey is a massive part of the problem.

if he is saying this in public, i'm even more confident in my earlier take in this thread that he's cooked.
He might be, I think he says the right shit. I think he seems very engaged with the players but firing Chauncey is not the first fire I'd put out on this team. I'd definitely want to get Jerami, Ant and Deandre to teams where they are seen as role players and go all in on this rebuild. After those three are gone and no longer seen as the vets and leaders on this team, if we've got a bunch of young guys who don't look motivated then I'll be calling for Chauncey to be fired. Until then it's on Joe and even if you think Chauncey needs to go right now and then address the roster, that's on Joe too.

Joe acquired Grant.

The skill level between these two teams is outrageously one-sided.

One team does the fundamentals to play close to maximum potential. The other doesn't. I mean everyone on Memphis is a credible shooter and can counter that with a shot fake that at the very least allows them to get a couple of dribbles into the defense if your defensive footwork is bad.

Speaking of bad defensive footwork, Ant looks like one thing he learned from Dame is how to allow any offensive player to get two feet into the paint driving on him.

And while I thought Deni looked like a worthwhile addition in the first couple of weeks, these last few games he's looked like maybe one of the worst trades in Blazer history, to give up 2 1sts and a 2nd along with Brogdon to get a player that couldn't even defend a straight drive to the hoop.

Tonight we had way more talent on the floor. With Morant and Bane, they have the edge.

Joe acquired Grant.
Right... yikes. He tried to acquire him when he was doing all of those CJ, Larry, RoCo and Norm moves but didn't get it done until that summer. It was Joe's second summer when he signed Jerami even though Dame really seemed like he was not coming back. I forgot the timeline for a second there. Thanks.

The fucking train wreck Joe is turning this team into is sad. It was a mismanaged roster under Neil and I do prefer Joe's personality but what in the actual fuck is he doing here? Jerami, Ant and DA are valuable role players... I think all of them have reasonable contracts for what they bring. None of them are first option guys and none of them have ever showed anything close to leadership from what I've seen. So why are they here?

I could see it if these guys were the type of 4th-6th man on the roster who are top class NBA leaders... the kind of glue guys that inspire everyone around them... but these dudes are not close to being that. If these three guys... actually if Jerami and Ant aren't traded at the deadline, I'll definitely be melting down. It's just so shitty that Joe very obviously has no accountability for the basketball product he puts on the floor night in and night out as long as he keeps this team under the tax. Joe isn't going anywhere so we all just have to keep hoping that he does the right thing with Jerami and Ant as soon as possible.

Think your underestimating how little talent we do have.

Memphis was a 1.5 point favorite tonight.... Even after all their injuries and players out were announced.
