Pretty spot on as we all know. Poor bastards who think not only that Trump has ANY policies that can work, but that he cares about them. Trump doesn’t care about 99% of his voters. He thinks they are fools. (Uneducated). He has stated as much “if I ever ran for president it would be as a Republican because it would be easy to get their votes”. Any voter for Trump is either a true idiot or a terrible human (or both). He does not have a single redeeming quality and he is going to do irreparable damage to the country. For those of us with kids, this sucks. A true laughingstock around the world. Do people know Russia and China are lauging their ASSES off at America because they delivered Trump to their feet? So much stupidity in this country.

I'm pretty sure that quote was debunked, but I'm also sure that's exactly what he is thinking.

"Surely, some people voted not for Trump, but against the Democrats. People are tired of the 'kiddocracy' and the circus. They want a normal life. Every issue that matters—women’s rights, minority rights, BLM, climate change—all of it has become a money-making machine and long ago lost touch with reality. In the media, inclusivity has become more important than professionalism. People are tired of this circus, and the Democrats are behaving as if the world were run by teenagers.

The Democrats didn't have much to offer besides 'Trump bad.' Maybe Trump is racist, but isn’t pushing someone like Cardi B as bait for voters treating Black people like idiots? Isn’t that also racist? Isn’t constantly emphasizing that Kamala is Black just the same?

And talking about how rich people don’t care about us… and then Oprah and Barack step up, not to mention half of Hollywood’s actors. Give me a break. People didn’t vote against a woman; they voted against a circus that has nothing to do with their daily lives.

And by the way, I’d like to see a discussion on whether Floyd was a better person than Trump."

This sums up why Trump won vs the previous posted Atlantic article.
But you people keep rolling out the Trump bad/ they wouldnt vote for a woman card.
People will vote for a woman, just not Hillary or Kamala. Go find a better candidate in the Democratic party and we will see how it goes in 4 years.

Genuinely curious on how you figure that to be true.
One political party enjoys favorable coverage from over 80% of mainstream news outlets, who happen to also be sponsored in a large part by military contractors, and simultaneously push for every conflict we are currently engaged in. It’s currently conservatives who are rallying for an America first, more isolationaist policy while the Democratic left pushes for more foreign meddling and conflict in the name of ‘globalization’ which they pretend is the way of the future. It’s so good they have to force other countries on board through intervention with bombs and bullets.

So much wrong with this. I hope someone else decides to post all the inaccuracies about your view of mainstream media and how you use it to make Trump an agrieved, messianic figure, or how you think "foreign meddling" is avoidable for the largest world power in history and when a global economy is a necessary reality you have to be engaged with upheavals in other places, because I really don't want to take apart this second-grade level thinking and presentation any more than I just did.

There's an issue with that, though, being that you can't help the media for saying negative things about Trump when he says or does negative things and you can't say negative things about Harris when she doesn't do negative things and act like they are the same thing.

Hitler and Stalin shouldn't have gotten good coverage. If Hitler was running in this U.S. election against Nikki Haley or Kamala Harris, you would understand that he shouldn't get 50/50 positive coverage, because it's not about existing, it's what they say and do. And Trump was very open with epithets, denigration and lying. That's why those numbers are the way they are.

Most people who are worse off financially now than four years ago have inflation as the #1 reason. Biden and the Democrats pushing their spending at the start of COVID lead to inflation. Joe Manchin and republicans tried to stop some of that but weren't able to. So I totally understand why many people blame Biden's VP and think they would have been better off under Trump financially as they were four years ago.

VP's have historically made poor Presidential candidates. You really need the VP's president to be an overwhelmingly popular president like Regan was. Sure Biden was VP, but that was 4 years after his presidents term so it gave a chance for all the anti Obama sentiment to die down.

It is very odd how the parties have shifted from 20 years ago where today voters making under $100k are Republicans but those earning over $100k are Democrats. Has totally flipped. Theres a lot more people making under $100k than over.

Jeezus I can't believe anyone still pushes that line of bullshit. Trump started the inflation clusterfuck, no ifs, ands or buts about it. He gave the rich huge tax cuts and then turned around and gave American citizens checks amounting to $1200 each. That got the ball rolling. All Biden did was double down on it with another round of checks. He then took steps that were actually bringing inflation down. But Trumpers are too addicted to lies and bullshit. And too stupid to understand basic economics. If you think it was bad under Biden, hold onto your wallet. Because it's only going to get worse from here.

Harris spent 1.4 billion on advertising. Normally I do not watch political ads because I find them a bit insulting to our intelligence. But when they are run during a 3-hour football ball game that I am watching I see them over and over and over. Bashing Trump for hanging out with Elon while Harris is hanging out with the Hollywood elite did not go unnoticed by middle America.

Again I have never voted for Trump and I live in an area that is heavily influenced by Hollywood, but I do travel for work and I meet a lot of people in the middle of the country and the south and I am not sure the democrats realize how much the rest of the country despises the Hollywood influence. (Much like Oregonians who despise everything LA) I think it hurt her more than it helped her. As a general rule, all negative ads hurt more than they help IMO.

EVERY modern country had to spend for COVID because people couldn't go out and buy during COVID. If we didn't take steps to mitigate, who knows how many more people would have been infected. As it was, Trump's piecemeal approach put us in a worse state than anyone else. I also think he put through the first COVID checks, too, didn't he?

Maybe if Trump doesn't send mixed messages about whether or not to wear masks or whether or not it was serious or whether you can beat COVID with a shot of disinfectant, the U.S. wouldn't have suffered so much, and anyone trying to say early in the Biden administration not to put money in to stimulate the economy was the wrong thing to do was just looking for political points.

"Biden's policies" seem to have been imposed worldwide and we're seeing signs of return to normal. Inflation never was not going to happen. It was just a matter of whether you wanted to do nothing and lose millions more lives instead.

Do you think middle America hates Hollywood or middle America hates those in Hollywood that come out in favor of Democratic candidates, because I think it's the latter.

No one hated George Clooney or Taylor Swift when they just shut up and acted or sang. When they finally stepped forward as thinking Americans that had something to say and a platform to say it, then all of a sudden people hated them ... but only people in red areas. Seems kind of correlated, does it not?

This is very simple: if you did not vote for Harris you voted for Trump. You didn’t protest, you aren’t morally safe from the results of your decision. People, millions in the United States, are now at risk of death, and tens of millions are now at risk of deportation. You have caused this as much as any Trump voter has. And I will curse your names until the end of my days.

Sorry it didnt help with your narrative about unbiased press.

Agree it is the latter. Which includes most late-night talk shows.

Ironically and maybe surprisingly, I don't watch them. I'm surprised when the clips show up on Twitter or whatever and I see Colbert basically doing 10 minutes of rhetoric.

Yeah, I don't really care for that myself. Every once in a while, perhaps. But I turned on those shows to wind down after a hard day. The last thing I wanted was more political discussion when I'm trying to have a laugh.

Not if you live on the West Coast....which most of us do. I am pretty sure Harris got 100% of the electoral votes and it wasn't
close.

As for the risk of tens of millions of people at risk of being deported....I am willing to wager any amount of money that it won't happen. Some sure, but more than a million? Doubtful.

If you are quibbling about the electoral college then you already know I’m correct and are looking for a loophole. I hope that comforts you. Death is on every hand now. None will escape this eager hell.

I'd advise caution on trying to calculate what Trump will or won't do, or at least will and won't try to do. Some of the stuff he's suggested has been carried out in smaller degrees in red states.

It's like I said to someone else, it's kind of strange to hear people say they voted for Trump for something he said he'd do and then some of those same people spend time on the message boards telling people they didn't really think he'd do what he said he'd do.

And the younger generations keep whining and blaming the Boomers for the younger generation's failures to launch. Like we had it all handed to us. You don't know shit about my adult life and the route I took to get (and keep) my head above water. My contemporaries and I "launched" in the '70's, when the economy sucked badly and 6-7% were coveted mortgage interest rates. Unemployment was sky high. I worked several jobs (while going to school on the GI Bill) just to pay the rent and eat cheaply. Get the fuck outta here with your "no skin in the game bullshit". It sounds like you have a very good job and apparently do okay. Kinda like me when I was your age, only better. I'm not sure where your bitterness comes from. Speaking strictly for myself, I earned what I have through a lot of hard work and stress (and some luck too. It happens). I played by the rules (and didn't fall back on blaming the times....or other generations for cock blocking me), and now I'm trying to enjoy the rewards such as they are. If you want to blame where America is right now, bone up on your history. The bill for the Reagan years has come due in a big way. But quit hating on us for following the rules.....and for resenting the fact that an idiot who never followed the rules in his life and cheated his way to the top is now the president of the United States.
