Pakistan is a huge part of the problem and we continue to provide for them and give tons of money.

As long as Pakistan and Iran from the Taliban support the Afgani's are screwed as far as being a country. The poppy trade is one of the problems.
I sure would have gotten my family out of the country along time ago. I feel bad for those that cant leave for what ever reason.

Yep. And Saudi Arabia. They fund all of the Wahibi schools that breed extreme fundamentalists.

If we were going into the middle east it should have been long term, and ending those schools and replacing them with open, science based schools should have been priority #1. Then eliminate all funding for extremist ideals, and commit to keeping it up and protecting those schools and hospitals (and tracking down and destroying terrorist cells) for 50 years.

Anything else completely destroys our credibility.

That was Cheney's condition to run with Bush. He would get Bush to the Whitehouse, but he would be the president behind the scenes.

Why on earth would two congressmen think it's a good idea to go to the Kabul airport on a "fact finding mission"? Sounds like a pretty dumb idea to me.

But as long as it get's them re-elected, all that really matters. To say it was for any other reason is a blatant lie.
 
Those two Congressmembers had to be protected by US soldiers and took two seats on flight home. They literally hampered rescue effort.
