I had my knee replaced at the end of October. I'm 65 so you must be younger than me. It is an extremely painful recover and it takes 6 months before you feel "normal", but I am glad I did it. I couldn't walk the golf course before.
Man, I missed that you had a TKR! Glad you are doing better.
Ive had two done in last 3 years and should have done 5 years earlier.
I can actually jog some, but mostly bike, elliptical & walk on treadmill.
Zero arthritic pain now in my knees.
At 73 I now feel 63 or younger.

Everyone can.
Nurkic briefly had a bromance with Justise Winslow during the 4-game win streak of 2022. They were on the same page as to how to move the ball between them to get a basket.
Scoot is the same way.
Any player who understands how to defeat the defense with ball and player movement will be rewarded by playing with Scoot. He's looking for those options on offense.
I'm super psyched to see how well this plays our. I'm not saying Nurk and Jeremy are gonna suddenly become Allstars because Scoot is passing to them. But I think there's a really good chance that their offensive output is better than last year because Scoot actually looks for other guys periodically.

Im 39 and can't jog. Well I can but I'll pay for it later. Was wondering if you could after tkr.

why Scoot Henderson's 21 minutes at summer league was so exciting

One of Scoot Henderson's biggest fans, Sam Vecenie, talks about Scoot Henderson's 21 minutes in the summer league. He is with coach Adam Spinella.

"There are NBA point guards that can't do that."

I wonder where they’d rank Scoot among:

Steph
Dame
Luka
Shae
Ja
Kyrie
Trae
De’aron
Jamal
Tyrese
Jalen
Lamelo
Jrue
Tyrese

Try again. You can run miles every single day for decades

Some people "can" most people cannot. I say this as a former competitive marathon runner (2:54). Everyone reacts differently to the impact, but I would be interested if you could name an individual over 190 lbs that ran that much or jumped that much that had a long career with no cartilage issues. Every body type has a certain number of miles they can get away with in their lives, given their unique biomechanics. Anyone who starts accumulating those impact frequently at an early age is at higher risk of having problems in their prime.

I can and have some...but many mostly walk and other cardio. I was a runner in my younger years and basically wore my knees out with the help of genetics.
Most O surgeons will tell you that running should be taboo as you could wear the new joints outs. Going to start playing pickle ball some as I know a few do with TKR's.

Agreed. Got a new hip a few years ago. Dr told me I can run but he wouldn't recommend it as it will notably lower the lifespan of the hip. He suggested biking, swimming or just walking but nothing that put such stress on an artificial joint.

He specialized in Hips and Knees and said that applied to both. What you can do is different than what you should do.

The replacements are no joke. Known two people who got infections after the surgery and had to have them removed and spent the better part of a year in a wheelchair (hipless) while they treated the infection and ensured it didn't return before they tried again.

Ick!

I would take him over Kyrie. He’s an absolute nut job and a cancer. Much rather have Scoot, even as an unproven rookie.

Good, We are going to talk about knees. I didn't start playing soccer until I was 25 so maybe that helped, but I played into my early 50's before I quit just because I was worried about the long term damage to my knees and spine. 15 years ago my one knee got so bad I could not walk. Arthritis in one knee was rated "4" which is the worst rating and "3" in the other knee. I was given a hyaluronic acid injection which got me on my feet again but doesn't have a lasting effect. But somehow I leveled out. I take a joint compound that has your usual chondroitin and glucosamine and MSM, I also do isometric exercises that work the knees sideways. Also take turmeric. Walk regularly. I'm now 78 and just in the last year have begun jogging short distances, which was somewhat painful at first but now isn't at all. One reason I haven't thought about knee surgery is that two guys I know got blood clots during the surgery and one of them ended up dying.

That's what got Jerome Kersey as well, I think.

You are absolutely right. I did not realize that.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The state medical examiner says former Portland Trail Blazers player Jerome Kersey died from a blood clot that traveled from his left calf to his left lung.

The announcement Thursday comes a day after Kersey died at 52. He had minor knee surgery Friday, but it could not be immediately determined if surgery caused the clot.

Here's a good 9-minute mix of Scoot scoring, passing and some defending.
Nothing new of course, but it does include some summer league snippets with G-league highlights.

Look at how he keeps his defenders tied to his hip and then when they least expect it, he turns on the jets and creates separation. That is Chris Paul level stuff. Half the PGs in the nba right now don't have the strength/handle/smarts to manage that.

Also, I need to find his floater efficiency with Ignite because if that's real, he's gonna be close to 20 ppg from day 1.

Sorry to hear the one guy that died from blood clot.
I too to the synvisc ? injections for a few years then they didn't work.
Ive always been a gym rat and worked my knee joints to keep strengthen and stretched. Worked for a while.
Ive never been more pleased with my results and wish I had done earlier.
Great to hear that you have been able to avoid surgery as the procedure is pretty ruthless.

Right now? They would rank him at the bottom of that list.
As a player? Maybe.

Sometimes you’d take a lesser player over a better one for various reasons though. Potential, salary, fit, etc.

I wasn’t very clear though, I meant if they were building a team for the next 3-5 years.

Oh, dear. Still missing the point. Thanks for playing, though.

I think that's the play that Sam Vecenie was gushing over. Not only is the physical strength insane, but it's just a very heady play for a 19 year old.

I don’t know about that, but I’d probably take him over Jalen and Tyrese Maxey. Probably Jrue too.

People are gonna hate this but, for our current team (aka COMPLETE non-contender), I’d take him over Dame and Steph too.

Are you saying build a team that can win a ring in the next 3-5 years?

Or starting from scratch?

If I only have 3-5 years to win a ring, I'm going with Steph, Dame or Luka.

If I'm starting a rebuild from scratch? Luka, Shae, Haliburton.... I'd put Scoot in that list.

I'm honestly not impressed at all with Ja, Kyrie, or Trae Young. Don't even really want them on my team.

The rest of these guys.... they're ok. I don't think they're the kind of guy you build around. I'm not even sure if Scoot is the kind of guy you build around. I think he can be a key component on a championship team. I think he could be the leader on a championship team. But I'm really hoping that Shae ends up being our best player.

Fox, Jrue, Murray, Lamelo.... they're good players. They can probably be the second or third best players on a championship team. I just don't think they can be alphas.

From scratch

imagine you’re an expansion team (that most likely won’t pull a Las Vegas knights and contend in your first couple seasons)

I

If you want to speed it up, you literally can with YouTube. Turn up the volume and set the speed to 1.5.
Sam pointed out that in summer league that Scoot played against some very quick and agile defenders, as quick and agile as he will see in the regular season.
And they were not able to stop him.

Ok so you're going to rule out 2/3 of your list immediately.

Steph (too old)
Dame (too old)
Kyrie (cancer)
Trae (tiny score first point guard who doesn't play defense)
De’aron (good player but not someone I'd build around)
Jamal (good #2 on a title team)
Jrue (role player)

Not gonna build around those dudes. The Hawks have been building around Trae for years. He's not the dude.

Luka
Shae
Ja
Haliburton
Jalen
Lamelo
Maxie

So Luka would still be my first choice. He's still young, he's insanely good, and he's the kind of dude you build around. SGA is also really good. We'll see if he's the dude you build around, depending on how OKC looks in the next couple years. I would not build around Ja. He's a cancer. I wouldn't build around LaMelo. I don't think he's good enough. Maxie really strikes me as another short combo guard. Isn't Jalen Green a shooting guard?

Here's my list (ranked)

Luka
SGA
Haliburton
Scoot

Scoot is a big dude.
It might take seeing him in person side-by-side with Shaedon Sharpe to see that difference.
This is an important fact in any analysis.
It's too easy to mentally think of him as a typical 6'3" point guard, which he is not.
