Andre Miller is starting to make more sense to me

I think Portland has a tendency to play Mo-Ball when he's in. He calls his own number a lot, and his assists come at the cost of ball movement.

Mo has a USG of 20.4%, and an assist% of 28.8%.
Last year Miller had a USG of 17.9% and assist% of 32.2%.

Miller holds the ball less, and passes it to scorers more. And when Miller decides to shoot, he hits a TS% of 55% (to Mo's 49%).

When you have as many scorers as we do, this is what I'd love to see in a backup PG. Especially when he's logging a lot of minutes playing next to Lillard.

And the lobs....dear lord the lobs. Damian, Wes, Batum, LMA....right down to Lopez and Robinson...there are just a ton of guys on this team who would feast on lobs. And it's a skill that would likely rub off on Damian just from being around a PG who throws them so much.

Great post. Excellent points. Repped.

Andre has never been out of the first round....I don't want that bad juju back on the team. I know Miller won't have as big of a role this time but I'm just scared of him in the playoffs. Teams just sag off Miller and play 4 on 5.

I would love to have Miller back though.

Also once a player leaves Portland rarely, if ever, has Paul Allen brought them back. I could be mistaken but I can't think of anyone. I can't say for the 90s (too young) but 2000s+ I don't think Allen has brought back a player.

At this point I think we need a steadying influence on the second unit..... and Mo ain't it.

Sorry but I don't want a 37 year old point guard that can't shoot. That deal would be beyond dumb.

Add in that he's probably the worst defensive PG in the NBA right now...

Simple swap of Mo Williams, Earl Watson and Will Barton for Dre. Denver does it to clear the messy situation and the $5m owed Dre next year off their books. Will and Earl are expiring, and Mo probably doesn't re-sign. They are a .500 team, so it's not like they are really worried about helping a competitor.

Portland does it to get a backup PG who can actually pass the damned ball and make a high percentage shot. Plus Aldridge would automatically get two more lobs per game.

Dre is 37, which is old as fuck. But he's got a rock solid health history and the plus side of being suspended by your team for 15 games is that you're going to be well-rested.

This deal makes so much sense for both teams. Only thing holding it back, IMO, is the behind-the-scenes stuff with Dre. You never really know if he burned any bridges with Portland, or if there's a prima dona vibe to him that makes any GM to wary.

Denver doesn't have minutes for Miller, yet they're going to want Mo Williams and Earl Watson in exchange? LOL

People forget that we don't have a post presence in the 2nd unit. Dre would be that. He also is not any worse defensively that the sieve that is Mo. He will make all the players around him better.

Right now they have minutes for whoever wants to play point. Nate Robinson is out for a long time and Lawson has a minor issue that kept him out of the last game. yesterday no one in their box score was labeled as PG, although Foye may be kind of.

Sabonis left for a season and came back too.

You have to wonder how many more 50 point games Andre could've had if he'd wanted. Still one of my fave Blazers ever.

LaMarcus is a lot more personable in interviews when he's relaxed. Hardly a "y'know" to be heard.
The team put tremendous pressure on LMA and Roy to be perfect off the court. Brandon was a natural at it (pun intended), but LaMarcus had to really tighten up to get through it.

Andre is one of the unspoken legends of the game. Actually an insanely good basketball player and a real winner/fighter mentality. Having him here was great.

MB: *4 minutes into the game* Andre Miller needed that, as odd at that sounds.

Mike Rice: Wasn’t the prettiest girl at the dance.

Wonder what the wild ones take on the Blazers right now is.
