That's not a travel though.

The steps start counting when the player enters his gather, not right after the last live dribble hits the floor.

Dog. I've refereed basketball from 5th graders to Division 3 college. This is my 16th season.

He traveled.

Your right. I got mixed up. Regardless, the most he takes is three (you're counting the gather step to get to 4).

And I didn't know this before, but Joseph was called for the grab so the play was dead and the shot didn't even count.

I'll give you that. He traveled nonetheless and I would called that shit. It's the whole reason why I'll never take my referee aspirations to the NBA level.

He literally takes 3 steps.

Now, is it a traveling call in the NBA? No, they don't call that traveling and you're hardly ever going to see that called. Just like the rip through move that Al Jefferson does is a travel every single time. He completely switches his pivot foot on the rip through and it is very easy to see.. but they simply don't call traveling on that move. Both moves are certainly traveling.
 
In regards to the poll question - I voted 'other'.

I don't post on here too often, but I certainly try to visit this forum at least once a day. This site is awesome, and it's because of a ton of great posters. Everyone has a different take, and that's what makes it such a fun read.

The list of posters in the poll is good, but a ton were left off - @Boob-No-More, @HCP, @Mediocre Man, @PtldPlatypus, @Chris Craig, @BlazerCaravan, @Eastoff, @dviss1, @riverman, @julius, @theprunetang, @Sleepwalker, @Orion Bailey , and @jlprk just to name a few. You guys are good entertainment.
