Except for Chief. Aminu just isn't a PF and he is certainly not a stretch-4 so why play him there?
defense....his wingspan is as long as any PF we have on the roster and he's a hustler on the glass

Just what is the topic. I like Rivermans take on the team and level headedness on the overall team this year.

I like Crowder but I also like Chief and Mo and am not so sure we are better over all. Just my two cents.

This puts me in a tough spot. Because I'm as big of a Sabas fan as there is . But, how much raw data do we really have to go off of with young Sabonis. A lot of it is second hand hearsay. We do know that he dominated a young David Robinson in the World Championships. A lot of what we have to go off of young Sabonis is mystery and intrigue.

Yeah, we don't know anything definitively about Sabonis but when someone references a "prime Sabonis" or a "young Sabonis," it's generally shorthand for what knowledgeable observers at the time considered him: one of the greatest center talents ever.

If you just mean "a really good player with mobility and passing ability," then yeah, that could describe Nurkic.

Also, save the condescending fetish bullshit for someone else.

That was a joke, not condescension. In fact, I'm fairly sure you purposely took my obvious hyperbole statement of "crushing disappointment" literally in order to be condescending yourself, so it's a weird complaint from you.

c'mon dude...you are making some huge assumptions and seem to have a real problem dealing with alternatives to your views here. Schilly is very astute when it comes to Blazers hoops.....you seem desperate to trade guys that some folks think are valuable to the team. You're on about trade machine scenario 1,000 now...when we're probably not trading anybody before tipoff
Hey, there's nothing wrong with being hopeful and doing a 1000 trade scenarios!

What's not realistic is to think we're instantly going to win it all next season if we sign Crowder and if we don't we'll suck...I don't buy any of it
Seriously! Crowder is a marginal upgrade. He might add a few more wins to our W/L record, but will not make a difference in how far we go in the POs. With that said, I'd still LOVE to land him on our roster...but I want him and Harkless duking it out for the starting SF spot.

A lot of people think a prime Sabonis was among the several greatest centers ever. Saying that getting Nurkic is like getting a prime Sabonis is almost equivalent to saying we got a prime Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Just setting yourself up for steep, crushing disappointment.

Unless that's your fetish...
A lot of people would be selling Sabas short. He was, quite simply, THE BEST TO EVER PLAY THE GAME!

The roster when healthy is much better than some people think.

Crowder would be a nice get, but not a major needle moving deal. Marcus Smart and or Bradley would be a bigger get because of the D they would bring to the back court. IMO.

I think Vonleh will have a great year next season. Especially with Caleb and Zach backing him up. Our bigs will do serious damage on teams inside the paint this year! I also look forward to watching the rebounding and defensive numbers this year. I can't say that about the last few years.

Can we get started already?

Wow, Memphis is retiring Zbo's number, I thought we retired too many numbers.
He kind of gave them an identity. And took them to their only wcf. I guess that's why.

I hope Swanigan can play decent defense because I want to see him back up all those second unit stretch fours under the basket so he can get an easy layup.

Memphis doesn't really have a long list of memorable players ...ZBo has been one of the better roster pieces they've had over the years. I'm glad they are showing him that respect ...he's been loyal to them for most of his career

Anyway it looking that Crowder might wind up in Utah with the sign and trade with Hayward.

You're starting to piss me off.

I say "I want Crowder because he's an upgrade and I think a lot of our role players as trash."

Then you say "What's not realistic is to think we're instantly going to win it all next season if we sign Crowder and if we don't we'll suck...I don't buy any of it"

Never said we'll suck without him, don't think we'll win it all next season. Just said he'll make us better. But you're sitting here putting words in my mouth.

And when I call you out on it you say I'm "panic attack" posting? Based on the shit you made up or because I want an upgrade and don't think some role players are good? GTFO.

You're a knowledgeable guy. My only issue is that you seem to have a very stark opinion about players. They're either good, or they're trash. My view of the league is in a wider spectrum. To me, a guy like Nolan Smith was trash. He didn't belong in the NBA. I don't think you can really say that about many of our players. They might be overpaid, but being overpaid doesn't make you trash.

Utah would have to add an extra, surely? They would be looking at getting a versatile player who is on a $6.8M rising to $7.8M deal for three more seasons, possibly the best contract in the league. Crowder is good.

Fuck that! Utah's losing Hayward, and the only way it happens is if Boston offloads salary. Hayward should insist that he be a sign-and-trade (a la Chris Paul to the Rockets).

Why would Hayward insist on it? It's in his best interests for Boston to be as good as possible.

Yeah except that's a problem.

It's like having a really slow car that gets bad gas mileage. Would anyone want a Prius that got 10 mpg? Not me.

But that's two totally different things. Overpaid and trash. They're not mutually exclusive. You can be overpaid AND trash.... but being overpaid doesn't automatically make you trash.
