defense....his wingspan is as long as any PF we have on the roster and he's a hustler on the glassExcept for Chief. Aminu just isn't a PF and he is certainly not a stretch-4 so why play him there?
http://www.basketball-reference.com/euro/players/arvydas-sabonis-1.html
I found these stats of Sabonis at an age similar to Nurkic in 89/90 he averaged 23 and 14 in a league far inferior in competition (especially at that time) than the NBA. That was when Sabonis was 25 years.
I think Nurk is capable of that if he played next year in the Euro.
This puts me in a tough spot. Because I'm as big of a Sabas fan as there is . But, how much raw data do we really have to go off of with young Sabonis. A lot of it is second hand hearsay. We do know that he dominated a young David Robinson in the World Championships. A lot of what we have to go off of young Sabonis is mystery and intrigue.
Also, save the condescending fetish bullshit for someone else.
Combine the two and you'd have a pretty solid player. Aminu's skillset is more like Bo Outlaw than Travis. But yes, both are a turnover waiting to happen.Aminu makes me cringe the way Outlaw did.
Hey, there's nothing wrong with being hopeful and doing a 1000 trade scenarios!c'mon dude...you are making some huge assumptions and seem to have a real problem dealing with alternatives to your views here. Schilly is very astute when it comes to Blazers hoops.....you seem desperate to trade guys that some folks think are valuable to the team. You're on about trade machine scenario 1,000 now...when we're probably not trading anybody before tipoff
I think Olshey made the one trade that counted...Plumlee for Nurk and Collins......game changer....as to Nurk...needle mover!Hey, there's nothing wrong with being hopeful and doing a 1000 trade scenarios!
Seriously! Crowder is a marginal upgrade. He might add a few more wins to our W/L record, but will not make a difference in how far we go in the POs. With that said, I'd still LOVE to land him on our roster...but I want him and Harkless duking it out for the starting SF spot. What's not realistic is to think we're instantly going to win it all next season if we sign Crowder and if we don't we'll suck...I don't buy any of it

A lot of people would be selling Sabas short. He was, quite simply, THE BEST TO EVER PLAY THE GAME!A lot of people think a prime Sabonis was among the several greatest centers ever. Saying that getting Nurkic is like getting a prime Sabonis is almost equivalent to saying we got a prime Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Just setting yourself up for steep, crushing disappointment.
Unless that's your fetish...
They both have the same problem...and it's what's in their skulls. At least Outlaw had a decent pull-up...but I still hated every second he was on the court.Aminu makes me cringe the way Outlaw did.
He kind of gave them an identity. And took them to their only wcf. I guess that's why.Wow, Memphis is retiring Zbo's number, I thought we retired too many numbers.
Memphis doesn't really have a long list of memorable players ...ZBo has been one of the better roster pieces they've had over the years. I'm glad they are showing him that respect ...he's been loyal to them for most of his careerWow, Memphis is retiring Zbo's number, I thought we retired too many numbers.
You're starting to piss me off.
I say "I want Crowder because he's an upgrade and I think a lot of our role players as trash."
Then you say "What's not realistic is to think we're instantly going to win it all next season if we sign Crowder and if we don't we'll suck...I don't buy any of it"
Never said we'll suck without him, don't think we'll win it all next season. Just said he'll make us better. But you're sitting here putting words in my mouth.
And when I call you out on it you say I'm "panic attack" posting? Based on the shit you made up or because I want an upgrade and don't think some role players are good? GTFO.
Makes too much sense not to happen. It'd be funny if neither team's record changed much.Anyway it looking that Crowder might wind up in Utah with the sign and trade with Hayward.

Fuck that! Utah's losing Hayward, and the only way it happens is if Boston offloads salary. Hayward should insist that he be a sign-and-trade (a la Chris Paul to the Rockets).Utah would have to add an extra, surely? They would be looking at getting a versatile player who is on a $6.8M rising to $7.8M deal for three more seasons, possibly the best contract in the league. Crowder is good.

Yeah except that's a problem. You're a knowledgeable guy. My only issue is that you seem to have a very stark opinion about players. They're either good, or they're trash. My view of the league is in a wider spectrum. To me, a guy like Nolan Smith was trash. He didn't belong in the NBA. I don't think you can really say that about many of our players. They might be overpaid, but being overpaid doesn't make you trash.
I'd take a Prius that got 10mpg if it had a cool racing stripe and a 50/40/90 season.Yeah except that's a problem.
It's like having a really slow car that gets bad gas mileage. Would anyone want a Prius that got 10 mpg? Not me.
