Jokic is lightning in a bottle.
Out of how many countless players that had those attributes....

You think Jovic has a chance to repeat? I still wouldn't bet on it.
Some thought Nurk might be close.

Why reward villainy on the part of Goodwin and by extension Lillard? OG is far superior to Jovic and it's really not remotely close. Those picks are OK, but late in the rebuild for us with a year 8 Sharpe and a year 7 Scoot. We could reroute OG if necessary to get more picks and get Dick and picks from Toronto.

I mean that trade is actually pretty much garbage and lets Miami give us a really crap package for Lillard. Seems you just want to give Lillard his way and give us inferior assets? Why if the Toronto OG package is on the table? The only reason I can think is you want to do what Lillard wants which is, IMO an absolutely horrible idea with far reaching and devastating consequences for us and the rest of the undesirables in the NBA.
Yup, I just want the NBA to burn. You got it.

Because in 2023 it's a stupid team building strategy, no well run NBA teams clear cap space anymore, even the glamor destinations.

And secondly yes Portland is not a free agent destination.

So it's a terrible strategy in multiple ways.
Which are also reasons he could leave.

Their names are almost identical so yeah, Jovic is the next Joker...

I think he has a higher ceiling but far less lower ceiling on defense than the other two. Let's not just add talent to our guys without considering the fit. We want defensive minded players around Scoot and Shae. In almost no world does Jovic become a good defensive player. I'm not against taking him, but at this point he's a complete unknown as far as what he can become.
That's why Murray and Jabari slot in more as solid role players where Jovic has some intriguing offensive skills for a guy his size where if they can be developed, could make him an extremely lethal offensive weapon that'd be more unique than a run of the mill 3 & D power forward.

The hope is that Scoot and Shae can be good enough defensively where the Blazers could be effective on both ends of the court even when they have a frontcourt player like that in the game.

Seems contradictory to what you've said in the past. Grady Dick is a more highly regarded prospect.

A more solid role player who knows his role and can hold his own has a greater path to success than a slow on his feet 4 who shoots well but can't play defense or rebound much.

Adding OG and Ayton solidifies 2 starters in the near future.

Getting deals done with Phoenix and Toronto is a big ask — but I’m asking.

Ayton, Boucher, Reath
Grant, Walker, Murray
OG, Thybulle, Dick, Rupert
Simons, Sharpe
Scoot, Simons

(without naming the others signed)
Out: Lillard, Nurkic, Little

A playoff team? In a year? Two? I don’t know when, but that’s a fun team to watch …
… there’s good reason for hope. Again, a BIG ask.

This is a playoff team in year 1 of Scoot imo. I'd be shocked if Cronin doesn't send Lillard to Miami.

Does Ayton make Grant a better fit as a PF or about the same as Nurk when it comes to rebounding?

I wonder if we had a meeting with Ayton before the trade? His problem is above his neck. All the talent in the world, but a ten-cent head.

I'm about as ambivalent as I can be on the Nurkic for Ayton swap MEH squared

Gonna see a lot of Scoot/Ayton alley oops this year. Their games do look like they may compliment each other very well.

I hope you're right... I worry that until/unless one of them develops a dangerous perimeter shot they'll clog up the lane for one another. I guess we'll see.

I’m just curious… Where would you all rank Ayton currently as far as being a Top NBA Center?

Top 10? Top 5? IMO he’s a top 5 center.

1. Jokic
2. Embiid
3. Bam
… and then from there I’d say Ayton and Towns.

Jokic
Embiid
Bam
KAT
Sabonis
AD
Jarrett Allen
Jarren Jackson
Evan Mobley
Gobert
Walter Kessler

I'd probably put Ayton in a group of C's that include Capela, Valunciunas, Steven Adams, Poeltl, Wendall Carter, Zubac, Nurkic, Mark Williams

Ayton has some upside but so do a lot of those guys

Ayton is not top-5; he's not top-10 IMO; somewhere in the 12-20 range

David Kahn had a thing about getting former Blazers.

Joe Cronin seems to have a thing about getting former Breakers....

You haven't watched enough full-game film of Ayton.
He's not much better than Nurk is. He has more potential... but is not currently better.

I guess I’ll need to watch more film of him. Also I completely forgot about AD.

Offensively I would say he is already top 10.
Defensively he has the potential to be top 10, but so far he is not.
