We basically acquired DeAndre Ayton for Steve Blake and Ronde Hollis Jefferson (which is what we used to acquire Mason Plumlee, which was used to acquire Nurkic)

Thanks Steve.

Ayton is not an aggressive big guy at the hoop on O. He’s quite good mid range. Athletic. Younger. He needs the right coach(es) and PHX wasn’t it and became less so. He needs a big man coach who can maximize skills and abilities.

Yeah, in terms of on-court skillset, he plays more like a bigger, but less skilled LaMarcus Aldridge.

After seeing Scoot cheer his teammates on in Summer League - I think that type of positivity is exactly what Ayton needs.

Im cautiously optimistic about what that duo can become (and if they can help each other maximize their potential)

Good video, thanks for posting it. I liked how he was humble about his own mistakes, and growth, but at the same time, *knew* and understood what his mistakes were.

I don't feel that Nurk would be able to admit his mistakes without getting defensive or passive aggressive for the rest of the interview.

I think most of Deandres issues in Phoenix revolved around Chris Paul being an ass hat towards him, and Monte not knowing how to coach him.

Here he is eating Claxton's lunch. Combo of size, skill, and hands is something we haven't had since Aldridge. Such a massive target for our guards.

He's quick too. He will work well with a push the ball up put d on their heels.

Against many teams (or most teams?) one good pass and it's over. The fast break starting at 1:49 on the video, for example.
Nobody's getting in his way, at least not successfully.

New bandwagon fan here. 1st post. I like the team and Ayton fits well n his talents were sort of marginalized in Pheonix n I hope he can consistently stuff the stat sheets in Portland, obviously the west is gonna be ROUGH but I'm pretty confident the Blazers are gonna be competitive most nights n play a brand of ball the fans can enjoy. Plus even if its another lottery bound season, maybe next offseason can be a really big one n push them more towards playing .500 ball... which is gonna be a ridiculously difficult task cuz the west is so good.. but who knows, injuries happen -- The Kings were the healthiest team in the league last season that probably helped them shake off their big playoff drought, maybe the blazers can get some similar luck.
