"Kyrie came to Brooklyn to win a championship alongside Kevin Durant," one veteran executive told B/R. James Harden's confidants, sources said, have communicated they expect Irving to be part of Brooklyn for the foreseeable future.
...for half their games...

Personlly, I think a Ben-Kyrie-CJ 3-way deal would make a lot of sense for all 3 teams (if Kyrie were actually willing to play in Philly). But I think the Nets are pretty much stuck with him.

I wonder if Simmons really thinks his management team is acting in his best interest? It seems pretty obvious to me they are most concerned with establishing themselves as bad asses that no GM wants to cross. If getting Simmons traded was the #1 priority, this would be a damn strange way to go about it.

Case in point - the stories about Simmons wanting to be THE #1 STAR! What reasonable GM wouldn't cringe at that? How does that make it more likely he will be traded? Instead of repudiating the idea, they are just letting it float out there and poison the well.

It is time (past time?) for them to shift gears from making the 6ers look bad to trying to make Simmons look good!

Morey is the guy who bought GME at like $200, watched it go up to like $350 and didn't sell, watched it tank and then climb and then tank and then climb and he's refusing to sell. Eventually the bottom will drop out and his stock will be worth $20.
That doesn’t bode well for us, or anyone getting Simmons for a reasonable price.

Man...you are super married to the “its all Simmons’ & Klutch’s fault, and Morey, Doc, Embiid and Sixers org/fans have zero responsibility” narrative.

Is it possible if not probable that Morey being fucktarded and wanting the Moon for Simmons is the actual issue?

You seem to think Simmons is trash, but conclude Morey is waiting for a reasonable offer (despite there being a near certainty he has received MANY reasonable, but not pure thievery type offers all summer long) and that Simmons is the issue?

The Tea Leaves all point towards Morey, a well known arch-stubborn POS, being the actual issue and Klutch and Simmons getting frustrated.

I read an article that said Simmons wanted to be traded to the Bulls and that Morey wants to trade him to the Western Conf.....who knows....at any rate we've got Nance now and a Nance Roco rotation is already a good thing in my view....everybody here wants to be here...what's not to like?

I would add they can ALL be assholes. Thats perhaps the most likely scenario. I still side with Simmons here, because (and I get we differ here) Simmons is a highly distressed asset who has elite skills that we actually have a shot at getting for CJ “redundant fit” McCollum plus sweetener. I want a title and that means we need a true 2nd star. Simmons is exactly that despite what many folks try and say the stats and accolades speak for themselves.

Well, I don't like being an also-ran instead of a contender. We aren’t close to good enough currently and 6/7th man won’t change that in the playoffs. If you're happy with another playoff floor waxing then OK. I want a title before the world implodes and/or Dame leaves.

Let me be clear. I don't give 2 hoots about Morey, or Rich Paul, or Simmons. I'm on the side of the fans. I don't see this as either/or - I see it as "a pox on all their houses!"

I'll be perfectly happy if Morey gets fired tomorrow for his part in this fustercluck. The catch is, I want Paul to lose also. The league can't function if multiple star players embrace this approach to doing business - and then the real losers are basketball fans. That's the only skin I have in this game.

I get that, and for a reasonable price (EG a straight across deal for CJ) I am OK with the Blazers taking that gamble.

If we trade CJ for Ben I would call Houston and see what the price is for Eric Gordon

I like our team, but we do need more size.

What article was that? I think you misread it.

Ben and Rich Paul asked for a trade in Chicago (at the Combine) not to Chicago.

Ben liked this pic on Dames ig

CJ says getting traded comes with the territory, Simmons is liking Dame's posts...

It's possible but I just read it yesterday...I believe the writer said he was interested in playing for the Bulls...what you mentioned might be true as well...it was an editorial so just someone else's take on the situation...and I don't think he's going to sniff Portland anyway or that we'll trade for him. I also think we'll be better than alot of folks think we will this chapter under Chauncey...we'll see.

I like the off-season moves too. I want to root for player that want to be here.

However, even though I think CJ is a good character guy, and a hell of a basketball player, I recognize that he and Dame can only get us so far in the playoffs. To be a contender, we need to take a risk.

Getting a second all-star is difficult, especially for a town like Portland. We drafted Dame. Check. Now how do we get that second star? Free agency? Nope. Draft? Quite tough, especially considering we have one all-star already who is doing a great job keeping us just outside of the lottery.

The only realistic chance Portland has of getting that second star is through a trade. Everyone likes to hope for a consolidation trade where we send out a bunch of solid starters and get back an all-star. Those don't come around very often. And when they do, that all-star is going to have flaws. It's just a question of if Portland can hide or manage those flaws.

I think this is a rare situation where Portland has a serious chance of grabbing that second all-star. Does Ben Simmons have flaws? Absolutely. But I think Portland, and especially Dame, is perfectly suited to take advantage of his unique skill set. Now how much beyond CJ do we offer is the question. My comfort level is CJ + (young talent) + future 1st. Should we go higher than that?

CJ for Ben straight across would be my preference and the salaries match. If we include future pick or so Im good with that.

These are both eminently reasonable takes. What's more, I agree close to across the board. :smiley-beerchug:

The preferred path for Morey may be to let the Simmons situation get ugly, withhold his next check, issue fines and/or suspensions and wait for other franchises to fall apart. How many teams feel great about their offseason moves at the start of training camp but awful 20-30 games into the season? Morey may need to wait for another franchise to feel a sense of desperation.

if it's to the point that Simmons is sitting out and Philly is taking action against him, the trade value of Simmons tanks even more than it already has. That will be ugly staining anyone involved. I think Morey would be an idiot to let it get that ugly
