Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups was a target for the Phoenix Suns and Denver Nuggets before signing a contract extension on Sunday, according to NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer.
Per Stein and Fischer, Billups was "poised to emerge as a candidate" for both Phoenix and Denver. There was also a "presumption in league coaching circles" that he would have interest in the Nuggets' vacancy if he became a free agent.
It was..
All I’m hearing is we’ve stopped underperforming for our roster.Dude has 2, soon to be 3 wins over teams with .500 or better records during the Blazers “renaissance” all wins at home with the best players from other team not playing. The only sense this makes is financial. Jody is cheap
yeah the Lakers added fat boy who is a top 5 talent but they also subtracted AD who was in that club as well and complimented LBJ better. Though older & injury prone, Davis has played more games this year and last then Doncic. I think their improvement is more about the complimentary cast settling in and playing well then the stars. They had a 5 win improvement, while adding one of the top 5 players in the league.
Marc Stein is who's reporting BR was referencing...i cant figure out how to get into or link to the article for some reason so here is a screenshot:

I wouldn't be surprised if they gave him an interview. I doubt they seriously considered him.still not buying it.
Not seriously. No way.No way in hell was DEN looking at Billups
thats whats been reported. Billups was born in Denver, starred at University of Colorado & played 5 seasons for the Nuggets. No way in hell was DEN looking at Billups

Solid pointwhen? Malone was fired 5 days ago, not 5 weeks ago. Portland has had 3 games in that time, including a road trip to Utah and back. I suppose Denver could have arranged a video interview, but again, I'm skeptical they were moving that fast. For chrissakes, they don't even have a GM right now.
this rumor just isn't credible
Read. My. Posts.Just got done watching Chauncey and Joe's exit interview/presser. A lot of typical Joe and Chauncey talk. The most interesting thing was at the end.
Joe said that he, Chauncey and Hankins have to meet with Kolde every goddamn week and that Kolde has constant input and questions about what teams they've talked with or teams that they haven't and why. Joe is being micromanaged by someone who is a glorified fan. Joe had to kiss his ass in that presser talking about all of the experience Kolde has with the team. That means that every fucking thing that is done with this roster has to include Joe kissing Kolde's ass.
Wow! It will be impossible with that level of meddling for us to ever truely evaluate Joe.
It seemed to me it was painfully obvious to everyone but the Conductor
I feel like they were showcasing vets for the trade deadline but couldn't get the deal done...Joe mentioned after the deadline they had a couple deals lined up to revisit in the off season...the vets didn't gain much value and got beat up...especially Rob Williams.Let me remove my online persona for a moment. Billups seems to have the team playing hard. Playing defense. Playing together. As this broadcast mentioned a few times, Billups letting his players know that they wouldn’t see the floor if they didn’t play defense. I LOVE THAT. It’s how it should be. My issue with that is that he didn’t hold everyone accountable. Sharpe sat while Ant played.
I also wish he wouldn’t have valued his vets so much because as a group, they weren’t as effective as the younger guys. I also felt because of this, the team took a step back in terms of long term development.
Are there worse coaches? ABSOLUTELY. Could we have found a more experienced coach? Yes.
Hopefully next year we can bring in an experienced offensive coach to assist our stagnant offense.
Now back to being my online miserable self

About $325 million...
Hopefully that was it. My thought on this is that Chauncey wasn’t guaranteed to be back, so he would have played who he thought was going to get him winsI feel like they were showcasing vets for the trade deadline but couldn't get the deal done...Joe mentioned after the deadline they had a couple deals lined up to revisit in the off season...the vets didn't gain much value and got beat up...especially Rob Williams.
ROFL I LOVE haters being disappointed. Y’all ate your crow with scoot, ate your crow with Cronin, and will have your next course soon.
the funny thing is y’all still so mad about losing Dame, you’ll hold our franchise in a crippled state like forever rather than just let it go
This place is, for the most part, an echo chamber. I think most fans do not think the same way about the team as most of the people here do, good or bad.

The common denominator is Grant lol.
I think the team might be thinking about moving on from Scoot. It just really doesn’t seem like they gave him the same shot that Sharpe has gotten.yep
Avdija is in 4 of the top-5; Sharpe is in 3 of the top-5; Simons, Camara, & Clingan each with 2 appearances in top-5
Ayton doesn't show up till the 10th best
Ayton, Simons, & Grant each with 3 appearances in bottom 5

Why bother asking for sourcing if, when presented with it by respected nba writers, you still dismiss it? Just jam your fingers in your ears and shake your head instead.still not buying it.
