I don't care if he made that three at the end or not,

Steve Blake is the equivalent of nothing; he brings nothing to the team but turn-over’s, mediocre plays, and wasted minutes. This team will never win anything with him playing major minutes. I hate how Nate and the rest of this franchise think he's something he's not! Even our Broadcasters give him too much credit, WTF!?

Predictable thread ... and boring.

Blake played well tonight.

Blake outplayed Ben Gordon tonight.

The thread might be predictable but it's true and since I've never got to vent my frustrations on how painful it is to watch this below average player I feel this is the best place as any. He doesn't need to play less, he needs to not play at all. Bayless has the potential to be an above average player at least, Blake will NEVER be anything other than a mediocre stop gap player. He makes a big three once every five games but we wouldn't need it if he wasn't playing and making mistakes that force us to need one of those shots (like throwing the ball to the pistons in the posession before his "Big Three" tonight). It's sad that Bayless has to sit behind this looser!

He and the coach both need to go. This team has no edge. They play with no fire. What happened tonight was udder asinine.

BLAKE needs to play 12 min a game.He literally almost gave the game away. I also cannot think of one reason why he is on the floor. Our broadcast team is his big cheerleaders which also makes no sense. WTF is Right!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll give Detroit's trapping, pressing defense a little credit here, but some of those dribbles into the lane at the end where he either hoisted bad shots or turned it over were pretty painful. All I can say is that he mildly redeemed himself by hitting his foul shots and nailing that second chance 3 pointer.

But there was something pretty interesting at play at the end of the game. Brandon in that high pick and roll or the 1-4 flat can absolutely not have Miller in the corner on the ballside. Detroit doubled Brandon every time and left Miller completely alone. That doesn't mean they can't play together at the end of close games, but Nate is going to have to adjust that play, bench Miller or come up with something completely different.

My guess is that Miller gets moved before the deadline, he can't continue to play this spot up shooting role that Nate tries to force him into. I'm not exactly enamored with Blake at the end of games because of his tendency to try and do too much, but he does at least present the threat of hitting an outside shot.

On a positive note, he had 11 dimes, while also directly contributing to a number of fast breaks.

As usual, everyone blames Blake. However, he was not on the court at the start of the 4th, when that Blazer unit went to sleep and allowed Detroit to gain momentum. By the time Blake came in, it was too late. imo, Nate should have brought Roy back with Blake - not when all hell broke lose. Blake did have a couple of bad TOs, but hit the timely 3 when they needed it. And he didn't choke on the FT line either.

You also have to credit Detroit with a great pressing defense along with timely shots.

Blake is not the problem. Nate is. Nate is the one who is playing him despite Blake's obvious negative impact on this team and its players. If this team had a championship caliber coach Blake would be a good 12-20 minute a game player or would be on another team.

No doubt. You can't blame Blake for those big put-backs and shots that Villanueva was canning.

Blake was not bad tonight. Yes, he had a couple of BAD turnovers down the stretch... but he shot the ball well. He took the ball to the basket a couple of times (drawing a shooting foul and having another easy layup, and possibly getting fouled another time when he took it to the hole.

Too many minutes? Maybe. But if he shoots 50% from the field I don't think I'll be complaining most of the time.

Ed O.

They need to package those expirings (Blake, Outlaw) with someone another team would want and get a real third scoring option. If KP doesn't do this and just sits on this for another year it will be a joke! What is he gonna do when Claver and the rest of the Euro's are ready? CONSOLIDATE!

Here's someone from Blazersedge:
Brandon Roy’s efficiency is down. He’s shooting 44% compared to last year’s 48%. Why? Pull up his hotspots chart on nba.com. These charts show shot attempts from four zones (layups, short-range, mid-range, and 3-point range). Last year, 41% of Roy’s shot attempts were layups. This year? 25.6%. As you might expect, layups are Roy’s most efficient shot-attempt zone. He’s also not hitting his 3s (35% compared to 38% last year). Possible explanations for why Roy isn’t getting to the hole: Opposing defenses scheming to keep him out; Oden clogging the lane is making it hard to drive; Miller’s man is helping on Roy because Miller can’t shoot. Explanation I’d rather not acknowledge: Roy looks tired and a step slow this year.

I don't think Blake is comfortable in this three guard offense; maybe it will take some time, or maybe he needs to only play in two guard offense. It seemed part of the problem tonight was late we were almost stalling, not getting the offense going until there were six seconds left on the shot clock; it looked really ugly, and maybe contributed to Blake looking rushed and bad.

This thread is great, because I can literally just go down the list and pick out posters who clearly have no idea about the NBA. Blake must go!!! after scoring 17 points and hitting 3-6 from 3 PT land and actually getting to the line 4 times.

Thanks for starting it. This place is becoming a sewer.

No offense, but if you don't like my thread or thoughts on Blake don't bother reading or replying, there are other threads. I've been following the NBA since I was 12 years old and consider myself very knowledgeable. Blake makes a few plays here and there, the problem is most of them are just making up for his flaws at other points in the game. Like I said before Steve Blake is the equivalent of nothing, he won’t loose a lot of games for you but he won't win a lot either. He is a mediocre at best player who will never be a major contributor on a championship team. He needs to go because the team can’t progress further with him, he is what he is and its not enough!

No, he just needs to be a backup. That role would suit him nicely....even on a "Championship" Blazers team.

No offense, but you started the thread, and I don't like it, so I'll comment on how incorrect I think it is given tonight's game by BLAKE MUST GO!!!

I think it is a worthless thread. I don't know enough about you to know if you are ignorant to basketball or not, but the thread seems ignorant to me.

In other words, I would suggest that you don't start threads like this if you don't want to get some contrary opinions in the thread. Endgame? I'm pretty sure that a poster who can't differentiate between "loose" and "lose" probably isn't somebody who I will take seriously.

And I'm not going to look it up but someone should figure out how many other players at the gaurd position have worse numbers than Blake who play equivelant minutes.

Give me a break, I'm using the Quick Reply and am not so insecure that I need to Spell check everything before I post for fear that the grammar police are going to bust me. Get a life!

Quick reply or otherwise, this seems like a really ignorant thread to me. Blake played well defensively tonight and shot the ball well tonight. That's his role.
