There also was talk of Merritt Paulson being interested a few years ago but he would need help.
Why? Removing the Northwest drastically changes the geographical impact of travel for the entire league. Having a team somewhere like Vegas rather than here suits the NBA’s recent agenda too much to think that they wouldn’t be fine if the NBA didn’t exist in the PNW.
Seems more like hoping?Ron seems to think we’re staying in Portland

More like Skeleton is copingSeems more like hoping?
In that case I hope the blazers move so you can be proven rightMore like Skeleton is coping
I don’t doubt it, but realistically I’m not sure it would actually come from a relocation.Could Vegas support 3 pro sports teams? PNW is a bigger market. Not to say it couldn't happen.
Well it seems like a natural now that he’s getting his own jet. He can fly in for a game anytime he wants
I'm convinced that Bron will be the face of the Vegas expansion team... that's what he wants and I think that LeBron still playing is why Silver said he is waiting on the expansion process. Not a conspiracy theory, just a theory. It's great marketing for the league to have a former player as an owner, showing just what the league can do for their players.Well the Blazers up for grabs then along with a few buddies I'd say it's Dame Time!!! You know he wants to own at least a part of this team. He should call Bron and Melo!
Just so we're all clear this is a great day to be a Blazers fan. Silver came out not last summer but the summer before and said he has no interest in letting any historic NBA franchise relocate and basically pointed to the bad press that the Sonics move brought to the league. The league will want a commitment from the new owner/owners that they won't pull a Clay Bennett... hopefully Vulcan will too.
I do not expect this process to be drawn out. I think we'll have new owners soon but I think I may have posted this same sentiment in late 2018... so as always, what the fuck do I know? The answer is, not much.
Yeah man, I was thinking the same thing. The team has basically been for sale for almost 7 years, so when I saw this announcement I thought that they might actually have a sale lined up too. The other possibility that I'm thinking of is that they want an all out auction starting today pitting parties against each other who have already shown interest.Im pretty sure they have a good idea who the new owner is. They’re just letting the “process” play out
God I hope not.Phil will buy the team and change the name to the Oregon Ducks.
If Phil buys the team he will make sure it stays the Blazers and stays in Portland basically forever. That dude is about what makes Oregon sports great and besides the Ducks, the Blazers are Oregon sports. Phil is still the dream scenario owner. Phil Knight's surviving son Travis has his really cool animation studio Laika based in Hilsboro. The family is Oregon.God I hope not.
Next starting backcourt will be Ant and CJ. He'll find a way to negate trades from the past 3 years and bring Nurk back. LMA comes out of retirement. Harkless finally gets called up from the Remix. Some fans rejoice.Dame retires, puts together ownership group, buys Blazers, fires Cronin.
Mettle is good, meddle is bad.I was excited to hear this news! I really hope and pray that we get someone who’s committed to winning but won’t mettle too much like Phoenix.
There were those rumors. How about MacKenzie Scott?
I don't care if Phil buys the team. It's that second part that makes me go...If Phil buys the team he will make sure it stays the Blazers and stays in Portland basically forever. That dude is about what makes Oregon sports great and besides the Ducks, the Blazers are Oregon sports. Phil is still the dream scenario owner. Phil Knight's surviving son Travis has his really cool animation studio Laika based in Hilsboro. The family is Oregon.
Well I think naming the team the Ducks would only water down the brand that Knight has already pumped billions into building at U of O.I don't care if Phil buys the team. It's that second part that makes me go...
