Blazers are for Sale

No.... It's next to a golf course, business and houses. It's 2.5 miles from the Alamo which is Downtown.

I mean it doesn't have fancy shops or restaurants nearby like the new Clippers arena which I'd assume is the goal of a new arena.

But it's way easier to drive to and functional than the Moda center.
You’re telling me that the Spurs arena isn’t built in the middle of Rodeo Grounds? They literally have an annual “RODEO ROADTRIP” in February on each side of the all star weekend because they have the damn rodeo there FAMS! And there is NOTHING around it but a shady neighborhood.

In fact the players have to drive thru the cattle and horse stockades just to park there cars in the loading dock. Great arena in my opinion, just smell like horseshit.

Well, if you zoomed out a little more, you'd see there *is* a golf course next door, and houses to the west.

It's almost as maybe Portlanders are wrong about having to have transit and infrastructure a must for a new arena (baseball or basketball).

That place looks, from the street view, like it's a mall.

I was just replying to my man saying that no it wasn’t built on rodeo grounds. It absolutely is. Not joking when I say you have to drive thru cattle just to get to the arena.

And I was pointing out you were both correct (in hopes it doesn't turn into another pissing contest).

I wonder if they've had offers leading up to putting the team up for sale officially and if any led to handshake deals already.

Yeah, that's why I said I think we could know in three weeks now closer to two (if what your saying is the case) or it could be mid to late season if it was just an announcement to open the bidding on an auction for the team. I don't see the Vulcans announcing this and it dragging all the way until next off season but I'm wrong a lot.

If I remember correctly the Sonics' move to OKC was also unexpected
You remember wrong. The Sonics tried to get a public funds to help with their arena but didn't receive any. Bennett was known for many years to try and bring a team to OKC before buying the Sonics. Stern had a close relationship with Bennett.

It's Texas... They have rodeo everywhere. They have a rodeo in Houston arena where the NFL Texans play.

I agreed there are not many restaurants or shops or such in the area. Yeah that's why they might build a $1.5billion new one in a new location. I was just clarifying it's not that the old arena is surrounded by horses and cows in the country like your post made it sound.

Yeah, Bennett had the OKC funding from day one. Some very good journalists reported that he knew that the city and/or county were never going to meet his demands, others reported that he just had that funding in OKC lined up for leverage... I believe those that reported that he knew what the outcome would be and had an agenda.

I think Stern fucked the city of Seattle by pushing an owner who was very keen on moving the Sonics. That kind of fucked us too... leaving us out on an island and without our nearest rival.

Silver was there for it. He's been there for all of the backlash too. I believe Silver when he says he doesn't ever want to see another historic franchise moved and when he continues to hint that bringing back the Sonics in Seattle is his first option in expansion.

I live like 80min away and go to more games there than anywhere except PDX... It's actually a great arena to drive to as tons of parking and they change the roads so there's about 7 lanes of traffic to quickly leave. One side goes to i10 and the other side i35.

Its certainly not fancy like the new Clippers arena but it has a ton of positives that the Rose Garden doesn't have. I greatly prefer going to that arena over the Rose Garden - which also lacks any good shops/dinning close by and is much more difficult to drive to or exit from.

let's hope bringing nba back to seattle doesn't come at the expense of portland. seattle trailblazers doesn't sound right

Chances the Blazers move is like so small it's not worth mentioning it but some of you like to torture yourselves or want to be victims -- STOP IT

I have heard so many interviews since the Blazers have been put up for sale and everyone I have heard does not think it's even an option they could move. Now the one thing that could push odds up is the arena and such but again the Blazers are so beloved in the community the city ( maybe State ) would find a way to make it work IF the arena becomes the sticking point. The NBA does not want another Sonics issue on there hands and I believe in the past Adam Silver has even alluded to this point so are you people so bored that you make up bullshit like this in your head to keep this thread / topic active ??

Basically agree with all your points.

I've just accepted people will always bring up the Blazers moving regardless of how unlikely it is or disconnected from facts. Sort of like the NBA conspiracies on the drafts and playoffs. Doesn't matter how many small markets contend or stars go to small markets - there are always a bunch of fanatics posting about how the NBA is fixing it.

Prediction:

Carlos Slim.

Blazer moving to Mexico City whining in 3, 2, 1

While I would LOVE to see an NBA team in Mexico, the Blazers will not be that team, IMO.

However, having Slim as an NBA owner, someone on the inside, would lead to the NBA getting a team in Mexico before an additional team in Canada.

Also, an NBA team in Mexico would open the door to the NFL having one.

Prediction:

Carlos Slim.

Well outta south Mexico City come a country foo'
He said, "I'm lookin' at the NBA on a whim
I am a team-buyin' boy, my name's Carlos Helú
But back home they call me Slim

You think in terms of the Blazers and Phil Knight that Phil Knight is like some normal dude and our Blazers are like Sydnee Sweeney??? I mean do you really want to go with that?

Phil Knight who made Nike out of nothing in Oregon and is worth in the neighborhood of 30B is the average dude and our franchise which has been languishing without true ownership for almost 7 years and is the 22nd most valuable out of 30 NBA franchises at 3.65B is somehow a Hollywood star that the average dude is trying to get with. Something seems really really ill conceived about this metaphor.

You're coming off like the child of a very attractive but still average woman who was being pursued by a filthy rich celebrity that you really wanted to be your new daddy. The celebrity proposed, your mom played hard to get, the celebrity lost interest immediately and now you're talking shit about the celebrity who has moved on and didn't end up being the dad you'd hoped for.

Made Nike out of nothing??? Try slave labor and sweatshops...

You remember incorrectly.

Clay Bennet (from OKC) purchased that team and almost IMMEDIATELY began complaining about Key Arena (par for the course for these piece of shit billionaires).
He then went to the city council to shake them down for money to build a new arena or renovate Key. When he KNEW the city wouldn't pay for it, he moved his recently purchased team.

Billionaires should pay for their own shit but they keep convincing folks who want a team that we need to participate in their business ventures. FUCK THEM.

counting others' money is a waste of time.
