Blazers interested in Aaron Gordon

I don't like this trade but Olshey has been about Gordon for so long. Maybe he thinks he's worth the guy we just traded Ariza and two firsts for and happens to be our best defender.

If I'm trading for Gordon and MCW. I would rather trade, Trent, Jones and Hood. I don't think we can keep Jones and Trent next year anyway.

Trent/Hood/Jones for Gordon/Filler would be my guess.

Dame/Simons
CJ
RoCo/Nas
Gordon/Melo/Collins
Nurk/Kanter/Giles

Definitely need some backcourt help coming back.

Gordon isn't worth trading Trent and Jones (Hood is meh) for. I don't get why fans think he's anything great. His stats do not back up the worth you guys think he is.

It creates a HUGE hole in the backcourt, for a minor improvement at the 4 spot.

I think if Neil has already made that determination about Gary then this would be the trade to make. Obviously the DJ situation is his decision. I doubt anyone will give him better than the mid level this off season but he might opt out because of fit.

If we do that trade the numbers are really close between the prorated vet min and our money available before the luxury tax apron. So I would assume we would either have just enough to sign someone from the buyout market or get some G League standout that has never played in the league. I would imagine whoever we pick up will be a wing that's 6'5" or taller and can play the 2 or the 3.

If that filler is MCW he can defend both guard positions at 6'5" and run the offense as a legit facilitating backup PG. This all depends on how true the rumors are about Olshey being obsessed with Gordon and if he's decided that he needs to move Gary. If these two things are true, he'd definitely give up DJ, Hoodie and Gary for what he would consider a huge upgrade in the starting lineup.

Also does it really kill our bench? MCW, Ant, Nas, Melo, Enes... Ant would probably struggle to get consistent playing time in that rotation. Then we still have Giles, Elleby and Blevins that would never see the floor. I'm pretty sure we would have enough money left over for a buyout vet but I'm not positive, that's really close. If we don't we'll for sure pick up some G League star and that worked out pretty well for Miami.

MCW can't shoot for shit.

thing is, Gordon isn't a huge upgrade. He's a dunker and that is what most people outside of Orlando think of him, and thus he's exciting and an 'improvement'.

I just watched the Orlando-Knicks game. He is no difference-maker. But he can do more than just dunk. (7 assists)

People make mistakes and it appears he might feel he made one. I'm willing to forgive and accept him back.
Mistakes have consequences. I couldn't care less if he comes back.

If he's a value contract I'm fine with it.

2 Trades the Blazers Should Make Before The Trade Deadline

Trade #1:
Cavaliers receive: Rodney Hood, Nassir Little, and a 2025 Lottery Protected First Round Pick
Blazers receive: Larry Nance Jr.

Trade #2:
Magic receive: Rodney Hood, Zach Collins, Anfernee Simons, and a 2023 Top 4 Protected First Round Pick
Blazers receive: Aaron Gordon and Dwayne Bacon.

If we trade away Simons we need a ball handling guard in return

LOL...kind of a little problem with those Portland 1st round picks

and no team is going to trade a top-4 protected pick for Gordon....that's fucking nuts

I don't even need to read the article to know the author is sloppy

Trade 2 replaces Little with Collins. Good. We know Collins' limitations, but we have yet to see what Little can do. Little is bulky, and weak Collins is little.

A deal that could be made and agreeable by both Teams is: Gordon to Blazers; Hood, Collins, and Ant to Magic.

Our lineup would be strengthened by having starters - Dame, CJ, Covington, Gordon, Nurk. And a bench unit - Trent, Little, DJJ, Melo, Kanter. With Giles, Elleby and an additional PG from G league.

It also gives Magic additional young pieces to help their rebuild around Isaac and Fultz with Vucevic, Ross, Fournier as future trade pieces if they're smart.

So basically the Magic are getting Simons for Gordon?

They'd laugh and hang up.

Why on earth would the Blazers trade Hood, Little AND a 1st round pick for Larry Nance Jr?!

That would be a horrible trade.

And why would they trade 3 players + a top 4 protected pick for Aaron Gordon? And Bacon?

Seriously, what is with Blazer fans and their obsession with Aaron Gordon?

Every year "experts" predict Portland will trade for a certain player (or players) and grossly over pay and NEVER are the trades even close to what they predict.

I get trading for a young player who shows promise, but Gordon isn't young, and Bacon isn't either. Zach and Simons are both in their early 20's (though Zachs making it hard to justify keeping him).

It's like people just go to trade checker and throw in names that eventually match and go "hey, that'd work!"

Gordon for Hood/Collins/Trent
followed up by Jones Jr for Avery Bradley/Maurice Harkless

Lots of help to mask Dame/CJ/Enes/Melo's D. If you only have two of those guys on the floor at a time the balance of the roster can hold it together.

Why to both of these trades?

Harkless doesn't do shit now, and Bradley isn't really much of a player anymore.

and again with Gordon. I think people need to let that pipe dream go.

I agree with the guy that Nance would be an ideal acquisition for the Blazers. Would rather give them Trent than Little.

Both would balance out the roster, add defense and playmaking, and set us up more sustainably for the future cap-wise. To do nothing is to let assets walk for dick. Terry could get 15-20 MPG out of Harkless while we continue to groom Nas. Bradley played well last year, this year he had a positive covid test and has been slowly getting back. He's still a much better on ball defender than anyone on our roster.

Trading Barton sure worked out well. Even with the players you suggested, they aren't all the sudden vaulted to a contending team. And in essence, they'd be losing Simons and Collins for nothing.

Harkless hasn't played for shit since he left Portland. Stotts isn't some miracle worker.
